I LOVE YOU, MAN THis is one nice little comedy that achieves its goal: entertain. The story of a guy who never had a male best friend and desperately needs to get someone to be his Best Man at his upcoming wedding. Paul Rudd was very good here as well as Jason Segel as the obnoxious, weird and out of the ordinary new best friend. A 'bromance' that delivers the goods. 8/10

Librarian: The Quest For The Spear This is an old TNT original tv movie which I have been ignoring for years as an Indiana Jones rip-off. well, it has some elements lifted from the Jones films, but for the most part is an original fantasy film that has a nice mix of humor with adventure. Better than I thought. Kelly Hu was hot as usual. Better entertainment than The Big Lewoski. 7/10

I recently rewatched Watchmen. It was even better the 2nd time around.

Saw District 9 too. Another good film. I don't see it having much rewatchability though.

Might rewatch Donnie Darko later. . .

    GI JOE

    SCORE - 6.5/10

    GENRE - ACTION

PREMISE - A new military enemy is trying to get their hands on a new type of war head to hold the planet hostage and take it over. At the same time a new military alley has come together to stop them. Who'll win in the end? Why the good guys of course. Or will they?

CRITIQUE - I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. You have to dispense all common sense and just take it for what it is, but once you do you're in for a nice ride. The story wasn't bad, the character development was okay. There were a lot of cliche's and it was pretty predictable but the real story here was the action sequences and CGI and to be honest they were all pretty cool. I would recommend this movie. I actually liked it better than both Transformers movies but then that's not really saying much is it?

    The ending: Gerard Butler dies.

18% fresh according to Rottentomatoes, i bet even Stepfather will score higher.

This movie was pretty good. I like anything produced by Apatow. This was pretty good. Kind of silly but it's supposed to be.

Watched a few movies this week, none of which were worth critiqueing in my usual style so you'll just have to settle for this:

Surrogates - Not nearly as good as the trailer makes it out to be. Very little action, bad flow and a mediocre story. 4.5/10

Crush - Not bad for a horror that only was a horror the last 30 minutes or so. Did have a couple hot chicks with an okay story though. 5/10

The Tournament - Best assasin wins, format here. Pretty ridiculous and farfetched but kind of fun with some cool killing scenes. 5/10

Taking Chance - Movie about a soldier escorting another dead soldier's body. You're probably wondering how they could make a movie about that right? Exactly. Still though it did manage to tug at your heart strings when something did eventually happen. 6/10

What Doesn't Kill You - A true story about a couple of bad man who do crime jobs for pay. Didn't flow as well as it should have and felt like it was missing something. 6/10

Year One - Started off kind of funny, but got worse as the movie went along. Wasn't terrible though. 6/10

I am a huge fan of Larry David (seinfeld, Curb)! I thought this movie by Woody Allen was pretty good.

For me the only problem is that Larry David played himself or his normal character from Curb. So even though it was funny it's not something I haven't seen before.

It was like a 1 and half hour episode or Curb Your enthusiasm.

I actually had time to watch a few films this weekend. Here are my thoughts:

Star Trek - very good. Likeable characters, great action, and a decent story. What the new Star Wars films ought to have been.

In Bruges - VERY good. Had everything you would want in a film - comedy, action, gore, and a bit of romance. The script is excellent too. Get involved.

That movie is hilarious, LD is the fucking man. His character in this was a much biggeR asshole than in CYE. It is by far my favourite Woody Allen movie.

In Bruges was terrific, I will see it again soon.

    Up In The Air 9/10

The topic is relevant to what's happening now in the job market. Alot of the dialogue are sharp, witty and funny. I wouldnt call it the best movie of the year, but definitely it's one of the better one shown in the theaters now.

It's a scene by scene remake of a Danish flick.

Jeff Bridge's Crazy Heart seems to follow the same formula of The Wrestler.

2012 Alright this movie has received so many bad reviews that I went such low expectations that honestly did film did not deserved such bad rap. It was more enjoyable than The Day after Tomorrow which I did enjoyed. Sure, this film disasters sequences are totally and completely incredible and at fault of logic. But hey, this just a damned popcorn film, not a boring matter-of-fact "An Incovenient Truth" that tries to enlighten you. Think of it as an Indiana Jones film set on an apocaliptic background. Once you are at peace with that you can enjoy the ridiculous 'chase' sequence (a car with our heroes is 'chased' by an earthquake!) And best of all: Woody Harrelson as a looney disck jockey conspiracy theorist roasting to a crisp by a fiery volcanic rock while singing like a happy demented hippie!) And I did liked the fact that this was another remake of 'When Worlds Collide' with a nice twist, something the previous two remakes (Armaggedon and Deep Impact lacked 7 1/2 of 10

A Christmas Carol I have watched so many versions of this Charles Dickens tale that I was not a bit eager for another remake. But having Robert Zemeckis at the helm and Jim Carrey doing his over the top antics seemed interesting enough to give it a try. well while this is not the best version it came pretty close since it was closer to the original story than the sugary versions made til now. It was a very good film, entertaining and the CGI is top notch. My only concerns with this film was the totally unneccesary and out of place 'rollercoaster sequence' where Scrooge is chased through the streets atop the rooftops etc. and that some parts were too damn frightening for children under 13. Still a good film worth watching. Just avoid shedding extra money for the 3D version: it has lousy 3D effects like ALL Disney 3D films. 8/10

Kuro-Obi (Black Belt) A good martial arts film is as rare to find as a pearl in the ocean. This one is a true pearl. It despicts some of the most pure and authentic karate fights ever put on film. No CGI, no strings, no 'spectacular unrealistic techniques'. The fights here are usually brief, but realistic. The plot is kinda of predictable from the start: during the pre-war era military and police forces are taking over the karate dojos for their own selfish purposes. One dojo resists this injustice. The old master passes away, but before he does he instructs his three disciples to resist using the ultimate budo teachings: do not use karate to hurt people, use blocks and not attacks against the adversaries. The one who accomplishes this will be worthy to be his successor and wear the sensei's black belt (kuro-obi). One of the three has been crippled in the first confrontation with the japanese police, the other two are almost equally good with the difference that Taikan does not hesitate to attack the adversaries in combat while Giryu follows his sensei's teachings of only blocking the attacks. This brings a clear ying yang to the plot as both disciples take opposite paths that at the end pits one against the other in an emotionally charged climatic duel. This is a thinking man's martial arts films. It two main actors are real life karate experts and it shows! A great film. Highly recommended. 9/10

Confessions of a Shopaholic This is a very predictable by the numbers chick-flick which is saved from total disaster by the charming personality of its star, Isla Fisher. She is so delightfully adorable (and sexy!) as the uncontrollable shoppping addict that you can't help but root for her in all her hilarious shopping sprees that will bring her down big time. And she can wear a tight mini skirt better than anyone! She is the kind of girl you always dream to marry with pretty face and the killer ass & legs (wipes drool from mouth). the movie: 5/10 Isla Fisher 9/10

Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian In this plotless sequel the museum exhibitions are transferred to the Smithsonian thus engaging in a battle with the exhibitions there. The end. An excuse for more special effects and to cash in on the success of the first film, which btw wasn't that great either, but at least had a plot. Robin Williams agains does a cameo as Teddy Roosevelt while the always cute Amy Adams tries to pass as a smart ass femenine Amelia Earthart with mixed results. A rather forgettable film. 5/10
