Funny How Everybody's Using the "Haye DUCKED the Klits" Logic, while NOT Referencing this... REED:hammert:
How about referencing he was going to save boxing from "white Ivan Drago robots" ,.. screamed desperately, in copious over-flowing press releases,.. he'd do anything to get in the ring with them, he wanted them so badly, he was a man obsessed, Im not sure, but I think I even read somewhere that he'd even fight them for free...:: he declared himself the saviour, and swore to give the fans the matchups we all want to see, with his 'exciting knockout style'. What have we got since?.. Withdrew, one after the other, after initially agreeing to terms,.. participated in a fix where most had Valuev winning, in a severe bitch eye-scorcher,.. and is talking up his WBA mandatories to come,.. mind you, this is a belt stripped from Chagaev, who tried to unify the titles,.. and ironically, Chagaev took Haye's place on two weeks notice,... Chagaev musta took a 'slave wage' for that, I wonder if we can all 'forgive Wlad' for not fighting Haye because he already owns the title Haye carries. Reed please,.. James Toney talks more contraversial 'shits & giggles' smack,.. why cant he 'refresh' the division in the manner Haye is?... is it because Toney isn't "sexy" ...?..
There's 'contract terms' and then there's getting your pants pulled down. They wanted him to agree to so many contingencies I'm surprised they didn't stipulate that he get their names tattooed on his face.
Please. WHat they offered Haye wasn't all THAT unstandard, especially considering Haye himself said he wanted to fight the brothers in order and possibly even again.
If I remember right though, a lot of his portion of the purse for either or both brothers was dependent upon his deal as hayemaker promotions with the cable channel Setanta. Once that folded or began to fold, he was faced with the prospect of fighting both guys for next to nothing under the existing arrangement. Bailing out with a phony injury was weak but I wouldn't put it down to choking or cowardice
Ah, to be honest I totally forgot about the whole setanta logistics. I remember now. Yeah, so I don't think it's fair to say Haye out and out ducked them, it was probably the wise thing to do if he would have ended up fighting for peanuts.
That has been the case for long. If you want to fight a heavyweight champion, you have to practically sell your soul to Don King or whoever. I am not sure what the demands have been here, maybe they were shitty even, but it is not like it was unusual in any way
It is very unusual for Ukranian champions to demand any conditions. When Don King does it, it's an accepted and long-standing traditions, when two cowardly brothers do it, it's a different matter entirely.
Haye was TOTALLY dependant on the Setanta money. They paid him a £2m 'welcome' fee and were due to pay him again after all of his fights for them. That's why he turned down Werren, because Setanta were basically throwing money at him. This was very well publicised by both Haye and Setanta at the time because Setanta were (as I'm sure all the UK posters here know) buying the rights to and screening practically ANY fight held anywhere in the world at that time (including Calzaghe-Hopkins as I recall) and they considered Haye a real feather in their proverbial cap. Sadly (though not entirely surprisingly), a few weeks before the Wlad fight, Setanta went bust and Haye was one of the biggest losers. His contract for the Wlad fight (and this is according to Haye as published in Boxing Monthly) contained no provisions at all for his being paid by anyone bar Setanta. So when Setanta went under, he was faced with fight Wlad for FREE and without TV coverage at all in the UK. Of course, the usual collection of haters and internet warriors completely ignore these FACTS and decide Haye 'bottled' Wlad. What utter gash. Who in their right mind would fight for the HW championship for ZERO money? MTF :dunno:
I really don't believe that. I have never heard of a fighter's entire purse coming from a third party. You really believe his only pay was going to come from a network? The promoter was going to pay him nothing? I find that very hard to believe. I'm sure his purse would be a lot smaller without the pay from Setanta, but to say he was going to fght for free is surely an exageration on Haye's part. If what you are claiming is the truth, why wouldn't Haye just say he wasn't getting paid? Instead he gets "injured"
Riiiight. You got me there. I'm just posting about the Klitschko's all the time. You fucking stupid troll. Shut your man pleaser.
Believe what you like my good man, but the Haye-Setanta deal was very heavily publicised in the UK at the time. In putting together the Haye-Maccarinelli fight, werren tried to get Haye to agree to a load of options and Setanta stepped in and made Haye a ridiculous offer which he signed. I'd agree that Haye probably was going to get something from the promoter but it would have been a complete pittance compared to what Setanta were gonna give him. Of course it doesn't make a lot of sense, but bear in mind that Setanta went BUST inside of eighteen months. This sort of madness was their modus operandi. They just threw money all over the place and it came back and bit them in the ass. As for the rest of your post- does anyone actually have any PROOF that Haye wasn't injured? Haye himself vehermently denied the claims that he faked injury. MTF :dunno:
You would have had a point had Haye ACTUALLY signed to fight Vitaly. As he didn't and instead received a better offer from Shrek, you have no valid point at all... MTF
Need I remind you that personal insults are strictly forbidden in GD? if you can't stick to civilized boxing discussion, maybe you should not post here, mate?
They can ban me all they want. Fuck you. The day you make a meaningful post in here is the day pigs fly. You're the cockroach of this forum.
They agreed to terms. Funny how much shit he talked only to fake an injury. If he had all these valid reasons not to fight why not just say it? Why fake an injury to get out of a fight instead of telling the "truth"
I guess that settles it then, because he is not one of those treacherous Russians? There were strong rumors that Kali Meehan had knocked Haye out in sparring while Haye prepared for Wlad, just a little before Haye got injured. Meehan did not deny these claims
'Agreeing to terms' doesn't mean shit. Contracts are the name of the game, not informal 'agreements' and whatnot. What would YOU have done, if you'd discussed with someone the possibility of doing something but then someone offered you more money to do something much easier? It's a no-brainer... Again, can you PROVE the injury was a fake? If you can you have a point, but you can't as well you know, You are simply speculating on something neither of us has any inside knowledge of :dunno: MTF
It has nothing to do with 'treacherous Russians'... :: The bottom line is that Haye said he was injured and there is not a shred of proof to suggest that he was not. I know it's fashionable on the Internet to presume that everyone and anyone who pulls out of a fight is a lying bastard, but that doesn't make it so. Bear in mind that this is a guy who not so long ago went to Paris to fight the CW champion, in his own backyard and then fought a unification fight against another champ a few months later but suddenly he is a coward who is faking injuries? MTF
Of course not, but do we have any proof of that the contract that was offered to Haye was indeed 'ridiculous'? All we have is his word for it, Klitschko camp has not confirmed that. We can only choose who to believe I guess. Also, I do think there is a difference between going confidently against Mormeck or facing Wlad. If the stories about his unlucky sparring sessions are true, I wouldn't blame him for cancelling the bout for a while. And on a sidenote, I am not accusing Haye for anything and I do like to watch him fight, but after talking that much beforehand he kind of ordered the bashing for himself. But a convincing victory over a top opponent will erase it all
I don't disagree that Haye 'set himself up for a fall', so to speak, after all the trash he talked. I just happen to think that he'll fight at least one of the Klits in 2010 anyway. Moreover, I quite like the double standards of some people on this board. When Haye was calling for a fight with Wlad, quite a number of people argued 'til they were blue in the face that Haye was 'undeserving' and needed to get his ass in the queue like eveyone else and fight some top-ten guys first. As it turns out, Haye has fought Valuev, who is a lumbering oaf but probably a top-ten HW in today's stagnant cesspit of a division, and will then fight Ruiz in March, another top-ten guy and then quite likely one of the Klits. The same guys who bemoaned Haye getting a shot at Wlad without fighting some contenders are queuing up to now bemoan him fighting some contenders. Go figure... MTF
