I don't disagree with that, it's only the idea of Sherk landing barrages of punches I found preposterous :: PS - it's funny how much the Mercer - Sylvia fight has affected TFK, he can't stop making excuses for Sylvia ::
No way... Chuck always "tests the waters" because he usually has the edge in striking and the other guys are better on the ground most of the times. Of course he could be a caveman and try this against Toney, we won't know before he fights him but none of his MMA fights suggests he's stupid inside the cage. He was never in a fight where he shouldn't have tried to box with the other guy.
Good observation. This style has become very prevalent just since Liddell did it to Couture a few years ago.
REED "Likes to Argue"???::...YOU'RE the Attention Starved TOOL that CLINGS to THE Most ASSinine Opinions (NUMEROUS Sanctioning Bodies Being GOOD for Boxing Among them; Barrera NOT Being "THE MAN" @ 126 is Another) just to STAND OUT...U Sit Back, Listen to Opinions, then Pick The LEAST PLAUSIBLE Argument & U Latch Onto it... That's Been your M.O. from Day 1...It's TIRED, LAME Ass SCHTICK...But it's YOUR ONLY Way of Getting Noticed Around Here... So Quite Naturally & PREDICTABLY, U're NOW Acting as if 6 FEWER Oz's of Padding is INSIGNIFICANT...Or that ANY MMAist is On Par w/or Even REMOTELY Comparable to James Toney is Terms of Punching Technique... 1nce Again, U're Living DOWN to your Reputation...But Hey, @ Least U're CONSISTENT.... REED:shit:
You're full of excuses for Sylvia, you absolutely can't stand that he was blitzed by a boxer. Yet whilst making these excuses, you conveniently leave out that Mercer is about 60, and not exactly at the top of his game himself ::
Tim Slyvia was once a decent fighter, MMA has passed him by. He's a big strong lumbering oaf that got by with his better than bar room brawler striking and pure strength. Tim Slyvia is the past and by today's standards is basically Tank Abbott.
That's what I've said all along. MMA has evolved past the days of when just being big, strong and having a decent punch was good enough to succeed. TFK
I agree with your signature and think it should be your permanent moniker. I never said Barrera wasn't 'the man' at 126, I have said that he wasn't a world champ when Pacquiao fought him. Different concepts and probably above your head. I do think multiple sanctioning bodies are good for boxing. I wish it had been three, but there are four who are legit. Structure is important for sports. Sanctioning bodies provide it for boxing. Multiple sanctioning bodies provide the necessary checks and balances that history has shown are required in boxing. "Least plausible" doesn't mean incorrect. I've never said less padding doesn't matter. Reread my posts and clarify your position if you like. Otherwise, improve your reading comprehension. If Toney is effective as a puncher in mma, it will not be due to him being an above average puncher at the top. Rather, it will be due to his accuracy and the smaller gloves. The fact is, with little gloves, you don't have to be a great puncher to knock someone out in mma. But you've already concluded Toney is some huge puncher based upon the fact that he is a boxer and nothing else (except that he knocked out Nunn back in 1948). And to help you along, I'm asserting that there are plenty of mma guys who have enough technique that their actual greater power than Toney would be reflected in results if you were hit by both. I'm not sure why you can't grasp this concept, but I'm blaming it on brainpower.
Total nonsense.....he was champ, what, 2 years ago? He since lost to Fedor who he would have lost to 3 years ago anyway. Wheres the evolution here - because Brock Lesnar came along and, what, revolutionized MMA striking technique?
If he wanted a legitimate claim to a featherweight belt or being the featherweight world champ, he didn't get it by beating Barrera.
Look at the UFC's HW division now compared to 2 years ago and tell me there isn't a difference. Why would I say Brock revolutionized MMA striking? That is stupid. He is however a far more Athletic big man than Sylvia ever was or could be. Who in the UFC would you even pick Sylvia to beat? Kimbo?
He DOESN'T Know Enough about Boxing OR Combative Sports in General to STAND OUT from the Pack on the Strength of LEGITIMATE Boxing Points...Therefore, this SCRUB Embraces THE most RIDICULOUS Premises Imaginable & DEFENDS them like his Life Depends on It... This 1, the Sanctioning Body Thing, when he BOLDLY Said that Kessler was "ALREADY a PROVEN GREAT Fighter" & When he Says that Using MMA Gloves WON'T Help James Toney to Hit HARDER.... REED:hammert:
So Who EXACTLY had the "Legitimate Claim" to Being Featherweight Champion???...ENOUGH w/your IDIOCY... REED:shit:
There's not much good I can say about Chuck Liddell,.. but he did have some very, very rock hard hands,.. I can tell by the way he hurt his opponents, when he thumped his knuckle against your skull, the brain would feel the vibration,.. but really if it wasn't for that, and his take down defence,.. he'd be a dog-shit scrub,... and he can find himself lucky that at this stage in MMA's evolution,.. not many noteable fighters are cross-trained in Judo/Sambo,..because that particular skill can take the 'shoot defence' right out of the equation.
that it was stupid was the whole fucking point; its what you were impliticly suggesting - that mma technique had evolved so much in the last two years that sylvia was now the equivalent of tank abbot (and by extension not a good benchmark of MMA striking skills). Junior Santos is the only new guy to have come along since then that can strike worth a shit. Lesnar is just a freak athlete and Carwin's a grappler. MMA striking technique in the heavyweight division hasn't progressed one iota since Sylivia was champ.
People with a belt. Once you start giving credit to people for being world champions who do not have a belt and who never had a belt and who never fought for a belt, things get meaningless real fast. Calling Pacquiao a world champion at featherweight is a good example. It's the 3rd grader's "he's a world champ because I say he is" argument. Who was the next featherweight world champ then, brainiac? How did you determine that? I don't expect you to answer because you aren't bright enough to proceed, but give it a shot if you will.
Just as REED Figured... U CAN'T Even JUSTIFY your IDIOCY::...U CLING to the Premise that Pac SHOULDN'T have Fought Barrera OR Marquez, yet U CAN'T Name BETTER OPTIONS that Pac SHOULD have Fought...How Fucking LAME is THAT???...Again, it's a PATHETICALLY TRANSPARENT Way to Draw Attention to Yourself...No MORE, No LESS... "Hey, Look @ Me, I CONSISTENTLY Spew THE Most ASSININE Boxing Opinions Known to Man...Do U Actually NOTICE Me Now???"... That's EXACTLY who YOU R, Scrub... 1nce Upon a Time, Prince Naseem Hamed had @ Least a CLAIM to All 4 Sanctioning Body Belts...EVERY ONE of them...Wilfredo Vasquez was the REIGNING WBA Feather Champ just PRIOR to Being STRIPPED for "Daring" to Fight Hamed for High Dollars...But Effectively, Hamed had a CLAIM to All 4 Belts...w/Out Question, Hamed was THE GUY @ 126...Then Barrera BEAT Hamed CONVINCINGLY & Became THE GUY... Manny Pac Became THE GUY by Beating Barrera, who Beat THE GUY that ACCUMULATED all the Belts in the 1st Place...& Barrera went MORE than 2 Years After the Hamed Fight w/Out a Loss...But in YOUR World, Because Some LAME Ass Sanctioning Body STRIPPED Barrera Under BOGUS Circumstances, he LOST his Claim to Being THE GUY???...Hell No, That's Determined IN THE RING & the ONLY Guy that TOOK Any Featherweight Prestige from Barrera was Manny Pacquiao...PERIOD... It's Really EASY to Follow Along, it's LOGICAL & It Makes PERFECT SENSE...Except to Contrarian LOSERS that MUDDY Shit Up just to Draw Attention To Themselves... U're PATHETIC, Dude... REED:shit:
I never said technique evolved, I said the sport of MMA evolved. They have a far greater talent pool and the top guys are far better than the top guys of 2 years ago. (In the UFC)
Here is what I originally posted. How on earth do you get "MMA STRIKING has evolved" from this post? Are the top guys today not more well rounded than Tim Sylvia?
