This is intruiging if it happens. Two scenarios come to mind: • Hopkins Pavlik replay-Where Hops is just way too crafty & Green is way too fundamental. • RJJ Green replay- I'm sure we aren'tgonna see Hops gone in a round, but could it be another case of Green happenning to get a legendary fighter just at the right time & we finally see Hops look old, without any answers & dominated. Thoughts? (Please don't answer by not answering-"it won't happen anyway", etc)
It won't be the rjj replay. The fight really doesn't make any sense to mE. Nobody in the US cares about Danny Green or his prestigious IBO belt. He would have been better off beating Roy in a war so people would remember him. As it was, it was just a footnote on a pretty boring Vs card. If Hopkins wants to fight at cruiser, he ought to fight a champ. I guess if he can make $10 million as someone (Tam, I think) said that Roy did...well, more power to him.
Danny Green is very strong, but he has zero skills, he's slow as a snail and will get frustrated by Hops' clinching.
I dont mind the fight, because I know Danny Green can be a dirty bastard in responce,.. he's also tough, and wont be discouraged in any way by the nut crunches, headbutts, and clinches,.. he's also got a good jab to use when Hopkins is cowering in the corner with his fist cocked playing 'keep away' ,.. so stylistically Green could present a few problems, but I'd expect bitchkins, to win on the account of 'cleaner harder and more effective blows' even though Green possesses more power, and will probably land more through the entire fight, it's just da way it is to celebrate a legendary, masterful, all time great top 2 p4p :shit::shit::shit::shit::shit:.
Hopkins is gonna do what Roy would have did if he didn't get caught which is win almost every round against Green..
The question is whether Green will let his hands go. If he lets his hands go, he will take away Hopkins offense. If he slips back into the state of mind he was in when he fought Mundine, he will do no damage and will allow Hopkins to get his own shots off. Double whammy.
this will be a very dirty fight...that won't be in Hopkins favour if in australia i keep thinking Hopkins-Pavlik....but at the same time Pavlik was a smaller fighter moving up...and if a stronger fighter like Green has a rough clinch filled fight with an older Hopkins in Australia...could be interesting but i think Green would be better off rematching Roy Jones though..more chance of winning and there'd be more interest than the first fight
Green is another one of these Semi Euro type dudes who have casts on their gloves and dip them in con-concoctions of poisen
I could see Green working in like a touristy hotel, like hauling the coats around or mopping the foors..
Sometimes,.. weight-divisions, aren't a real indicator on how big a fighter actually is,.. Hopkins for example, 'career middleweight' ,..as it happens, I dont know any noteable supermiddleweights who are bigger than him,.. and Green aint bigger than Hopkins either. There can be a span of 6 divisions with jumbled sized fighters,.. it all depends on how well you cut weight for the day before weigh in,..thats how boxing measures 'size'.
It was supposed to say "WHO" not "When"....but you are correct, Tarver is a taller, longer fighter, unfortunately Green suffers from truncated white limbs.
:notallthere: so wtf is Green thinking here: Earlier today Danny Green advisor Gary Shaw told Boxingtalk.com, "Bernard Hopkins said that he wants a 60-40 deal to fight Danny Green. At any rate, I spoke to Danny Green last night. Danny Green absolutely will not give Hopkins a 60-40 deal. When we were at Richard Schaefer's office over a week ago, we offered up a 50-50 deal and we've been waiting to hear the results for a while now. The first results we hear is coming from Bernard via a statement to the press that he wants a 60-40 deal. Danny Green called him yesterday and Hopkins told Danny Green that he went and got the money from HBO, which is not correct. Danny Green was with me when I spoke with Ross Greenburg and I put Danny on the phone Ross, so Danny knows everything I'm doing. Hopkins told Danny that he wants the HBO and gave Danny a wrong figure on what the HBO money is, as I had told Danny what the HBO number was prior to his call. Bernard said he wanted to keep all of the HBO money and split the rest 50-50. And Danny said, mate, that's not happening! :atu::atu::atu:
