Easy win for Gerry. One punch to the face, and Wladimira will collapse, as she always does in such circumstances.

I agree. I also think Tony Galento beats them both on the same night.

I wonder how Jerry Quarry would have done

I would expect one of fightbeat's resident militiamen to at least be able to correctly spell the name of one of the most famous and best white heavyweights (I say one of the best because the era he fought in was far and away the best in heavyweight history and he was damned good)

Jerry/Gerry/Dzherry only became good after he retired!!!, that is to say, when he was no more of a threat to the Ron Lyles and Earnie Shavers of this earth.

The pre-Holmes Cooney would blitz Wladmira within 3 rounds. Too powerful, and too aggressive for the fragile Ukranian to handle.

    Wlad beats the post-Holmes version.

agREED. Cooney was an emotional wreck after the Holmes fight, which always seemed strange to me because the Holmes fight proved he was not just another Duane Bobick, but a legit fighter despite the loss. But then the long layoff, and drug and alcohol issues ruined Cooney and he was never the same fighter he was going into and including the Holmes fight.

So I'm with you. Cooney from the Holmes fight and before...he gets to Wlad early and often on the way to a TKO win. But anytime during his post-Holmes career, he loses.

Now that I am finishing this I just realized the the topic is about "Gerry" QUARRY. Oh well.

Wlad is taller, stronger, heavier, Faster, More Powerful. No way Cooney beats Wlad.

DisagREED. Cooney was a big heavy himself (at least as tall as Wlad), and was the harder puncher. Combine that with Wlad's amazing ability to fall apart when hurt or tired and it's very easy to see Cooney disposing of him.

Folks keep telling me what a Superhuman heavy Wlad is and how he's bigger, stronger, faster, speaks more languages and has better table manners than any other heavy ever, blah, blah, blah, etc...and but I keep finding myself remembering he has stoppage losses to Sanders, Brewster & (OMG!) career journeyman Ross Purrity.

I think Conney's stamina vs. Wlad's would be his undoing. Wlad can jab away patiently and finish him off at the end.
