If Mannys legacy is hanging in the balance for NOT taking a test, then a lot of other fighters legacy just dropped thru the hatch for failing one.

Hey Reed, nice seeing you, it's been a while.

I'm not worried about Manny, win or lose. He's accomplished more than most of us pinoys thought he would, and he's done well. If he loses to one of the best fighters the U.S has produced in the past 20 years, then so be it. If he wins, it's a cherry on top of a legendary career.

But let's be honest. While Manny has spent $30,000,000 trying to instigate economic growth in his home province, Floyd was last seen throwing $30,000 into a crowd of random club hoes, and thugs.

Even if Floyd moved up to Heavyweight and beat Wladimir by KO, his legacy is already tarnished enough from his out of the ring hijinks and the attitude he has chosen to represent himself with in public. That same can't be said of Pacquiao even if he loses by brutal KO.

The funny thing is, I'm still not even convinced "Roid" Jones Jr was juicing, despite apparently getting caught.

Fuck I might be completely naive and wrong, as people like winner by choke and others seem to think all top athletes juice.

But just for example, the only time Roy failed a test was against Hall right? Which JUST so happened to be the only time Hall failed a test.

Now either whichever commission tested them had much better tests than everyone else, or quite simply, the test was wrong.

When I first heard this, I immediately thought "take the test if you don't have anything to hide."

Then I ran it over a few times in the mind. If Pac accepts this, this is a very peculiar precedent to be setting. Instead of an Athletic Commission setting guidelines for fights, fighters will? Why should Pac be forced into a situation no other fighter has ever been in? And not because a state commission says to, but because his opponent says to. There are several fighters that have had "rumors" or suspected of being on performance enhancers, but never were they forced to do anything more than what the state commission or athletic body perscribed. If Floyd wants stricter testing, he should appeal to the commissions and world sanctioning bodies. Plain and simple. I have no stake in this, don't really care for either fighter. I just don't see the logic in it. There is a right way of doing things, and a wrong way. Floyd is doing this the wrong way.

    wtf

why is everyone acting like this is such an unfair demand?? what next? complaining if someone wants to make sure a fighters hands are wrapped correctly?

this demand should set a precedent for the future of boxing

Mayweather is playing an important role as pioneer here :cheer:

If Floyd requested Pac put on less wrap or more wrap that what the governing body set guidlines for we would all have a problem with it. There are rules set for a reason and there are processes set to change rules. Floyd is just a boxer, no more than any other boxer. And no boxer should be allowed to change commission guidelines because he/she doesn't like them.

It's a great precedent to set,.. it gives the opportunity, for clean fighters, to flush out the rats, how could anybody have a problem with the implimentation of the strongest drug testing procedure being introduced to boxing?..

I had a similar thought pattern.

I STILL do think it's suspicious, and shit, Manny might be a voracious juicer for all I know.

HOWEVER - putting myself in his shoes, I would think the same. Who the fuck are you to tell me what to do etc, it's the commissions that govern these tests, not your opponent.

Perhaps Floyd should suggest it to the nevada state athletic commission, and if they say yes, we want these tests, so be it.

And on the flipside, I also think it's a little odd making such crazy demands like 10 million per pound overweight

I'm surprised Floyd agreed to that, even if he doesn't have much trouble making weight. Probably the only reason he did agree to it is so that he could pull this stunt, like hey I agreed to your ludicrous demands, now here are mine.

I sure wouldn't, I would love it. But I still believe its a horrible way to do it. Its a slippery slope. What would fighters be allowed to demand next? I definitely think there should be stricter drug testing in boxing. But not because Floyd says so, because the governing body does.

I've never said that Manny has never made mistakes. He was a national hero by the time he hit the age of 25. Of course women are going to throw themselves at him. This isn't the point of the previous line of discussion however.

The image that Mayweather willfully takes on as this flamboyant, gangsta is one that almost ensures that whatever he accomplishes in boxing will be overshadowed by how others perceive him. You might not have the foresight to see how that will negatively effect him, but it has happened before to very talented athletes.

I respect allot of you guys on here who don't agree with me, I just think you are missing the whole point. We all want stricter drug testing. Then use the processes in place to change it. Its the old saying "The inmates are now running the asylum".

I agree with jarhead. There's many reasons Pacquiao should refuse to succumb to PBF's demands. If he refuses the testing, it should in no way imply that he's guilty. He needs to take a stand on this and not let boxing get any worse than it already is.

Pacquiao can save boxing from becoming worse than it already is by not backing down to PBF's egregious demands.

Pacquiao - saving boxing for us all over again.

Fighters must defend themselves at all times in the ring from dangerous blows,.. I think they've got a right to defend themselves from steroid cheats aswell, because the governing bodies inferior method of drug testing is not good enough, if the strongest procedure was automatically applied,.. there would be no need for the clean fighters to have to include this kind of clause.
