General Discussion Rules Updated.

To save you guys the trouble of having to jump out of this thread and into another I took the liberty of copying the new rule right here for everyone to see.


8) Do not post links to PPV Streams or Links to Torrents to Download Any Fights.

Nobody reads the rules. Then they update the rules and expect you to go check it out real excited, like.

I checked because with all the in-fighting over the Pac-Mayweather thing, some new rules might have been issued...

 

Yep a PM is fine. You can even request that someone PM you a link on the forum.

I am kosher with the rule...on other websites, such as soccer, they have entire threads dedicated to watching online, HBO must be very powerful.:fightme:

I would think #7 could be relaxed. We really shouldn't be posting any articles "without" a link.

 

A lot of the time I use links its because the fight is not available to buy over here- it simply is not on the tele.

 

Why would our rules on streams be more strict than a forum like Maxboxing?

Max actually covers the sport on a day to day basis...

 

Because Cupey told us we were denied Press credentials to Top Rank events because somebody there was cruising our site and found links to illegal streams.

 

I've been saying that for years, and I have never obeyed that rule. Every time I post something, I post the link. It's not like I'm the one breaking these MMA stories, so I give credit where it is due.

Cupey is gone. His retarded ass rule should leave with him.

Honestly, we don't know what the fuck we're doing. You want to take a stab at it, tell them you're with FightBeat, go for it.

 

We've drafted letters before. I'd be happy to give it a try, but cupey is the one who knew about that stuff. We haven't been doing much over the holidays because most of us are actually taking holidays.

 

I'll call Cupey and try to get ahold of him as soon as I get home. However, I know that the UFC isn't going to issue us credentials if we post torrent links which take business away from their viewing software like UFC All Access.

On the one hand, I get flack for saying we can't link to streams or torrents. On the other hand, I have someone saying "whats the point of having a site if we cant get this stuff for these members". I hate to say it, but we can't have it both ways.

Either we allow streams and torrents while forgetting about press passes and such (and perhaps receiving potential lawsuits), or we keep torrents and streams off the forum.

I'm not being a bad guy here. Let's here what the forum members, staff, and owners have to say in a thread. I'm open and willing to listen, but we simply can't have it both ways. :dunno:

As a general rule, we should stay within the law as much as possible. Discretion is the better part of Valour. Where is the point hosting illegal video which gets the site into more trouble than is worth, when you consider that most people will catch it on youtube, or on a friends TIVO, or on an illegal source outside of this site.

 

Right, so we eliminate the links. What's the problem with PMs?
