Let's look at some facts here:

    1.) A PBF/Pacquiao fight is being discussed.

2.) PBF has managed to duck the most dangerous opposition throughout most of his career.

3.) Pacquiao signs the contract to fight on March 13.

4.) Floyd has not signed the contract yet. What is the hold up?

5.) PBF has managed to duck the most dangerous opposition throughout most of his career.

6.) PBF and GBP's make a demand for special testing for both fighters based on the belief that Pacquiao is using PEDs. This dispite the fact that Pacquiao has never once been caught using PEDs and has no history of ever doing so. However, PBF has a history...

7.) PBF has managed to duck the most dangerous opposition throughout most of his career.

Yeah, I'd say he's a coward and to be honest I'm not surprised. Not one bit.

And to those who say the word coward is taking out of context here let me just say that you don't get to constantly label yourself as the best who's ever laced them up. You don't get to claim you're better than all time greats who've proven themselves. You don't get to constantly call yourself pound for pound the best. You don't get to do none of that when you have absolutely no intention of proving it. To do so makes you nothing more than a coward.

I actually side with PBF on the drug testing issue ( don't get me wrong, I think Floyd probably juice too, just that he thinks he does it not as well as Pac as Ropeadope said in a previous post ).

But if the fight don't comes off, he better fight a top WW ( or higher ) guy and not some scrub, even an elite samller weight fighter like T. Bradley won't cut it ( unless Floyd fights him a Jr. Welter ). If he doesn't, then yes he is a coward and a bitch.

I wrote on Boxingfanatics that Floyd should just cut the bullshit and campaign at 140. If he's too afraid to face the best at 147 just go to 140. There's decent comp there and as long as he stopped claiming he was p4p the best and better than a bunch of all time greats I'd have no problem with him. He wants to be considered the best but doesn't want to prove it.

Hell, fucking Shane is nearly over the hill, would take short money, any weight stipulations, and any testing regultions all in an effort to prove he's the best. He puts Manny and Floyd to shame.

I'd actually let them slap me. Man, the civil case on that alone would net me a new beach home in Malibu, all paid for by Floyd Mayweather Jr, it's almost sexual ecstasy.

Exactly, PBF, above lw, act exactly like the type of guy who pass himself as an harcore bad ass street fighter, who lited up a couple of smaller clueless dudes withouth much provocation. But who suddenly balks when he's around other known bad asses,, now fighting on the street isn't cool. In other word, a coward

Point #7 is the one most Floyd fans fail to grasp. After getting his ass kicked by JLC, Floyd hasn't been the same hungry fighter. JLC essentially took his heart, and now he's been using the Roy Jones Jr model of maximizing profit and minimizing risk.

he couldn't make the catch weight for the JMM fight, so there's no reason to believe he could make jr. ww. Man up Floyd, you are a welter, now start fighting some ( and by some I mean the good one )

I think he could have made that weight. He just chose not to to give himself an added advantage over JMM.

The easiest way to justify not fighting the top welters and having to come up with brilliant reasons for it such as olympic style drug testing would be to just campaign at 140.

I mean think about it. He's not going to fight Mosley, he's not going to fight Pacquiao. Clottey and Paul William present all risk with little reward. So really who at welterweight is even intriguing of a fight for Floyd?

At 140 he's got Alexander, Bradley and even Khan could make an interesting fight. You also have the possibility of Maidiana and Ortiz still having a chance of getting a little more hype and making an interesting matchup down the road. I'd rather have Floyd fighting the best at 140 then 2nd tier talent at 147 which is what he's going to do.

Actually what I bet he'll do is just fight the best at 140, only he'll call them out at 147 which they'll accept because of the money. Yep that's going to be Floyds next move right there. You watch and see.

Excellent post. Concise and factual. The proof is in the pudding.

It's Floyd that introduced a fight breaking demand, it's Floyd's who's consistently found a way to NOT fight the best competition, and it's Manny who has consistently fought the best competition his whole career, and seemingly has no fear of anyone.

Oh and lb4lb, excellent point. 140 represents the exact kind of fighters Floyd would want to fight. Unfortunately for flid, I think he has grown into a proper welter, and he can't make 140.

So what the fuck is he going to do now? He's becoming a joke.

Roy had more balls than Flid.

I think in context of what he does and what he claims to be, that Floyd is indeed a coward. Compared to my neighbor who is kind of fat and runs a restaurant, Floyd is probably far more brave. But this is the fight game, and more is expected.

However, Floyd being a coward has no bearing on whether or not Pac is a juiced-up cheat. Whether Mother Theresa raises the issue or Larry Flynt does, the issue should be assessed on it's circumstances and merits. There are so many people who are just diehard Pac fans (understandably so), that they are willing to say anything to defend their guy. First it was superstition, then it was needles, then it was something else (I can't even remember anymore). When that failed it was that Dana White agrees with Pac, then RA Rugged Man, and I think someone threw in a quote from Pee Wee Herman or Dick Cheney as well, I'll have to go back and check.

All of which is irrelevant and stupid. Oh and don't forget that when a few sources printed articles which made Pac look bad, Pac fans actually personally attacked the people who wrote them, calling them assholes, pieces of shit, etc., even though no one here probably ever met any of them or talked to them in person in their entire lives. Of course a PRO-Pac article would have garnered those writers praise and adulation from the same group. So we now learn that it's OK to verbally beat the shit out of and personally degrade a writer, even through you can't prove "in a court of law" that he did anything wrong... but it's not OK to do that to their man Manny Pac. Got it.

And what he hell is up with you "proof" and "in court" people? Are your brains on hold until the Supreme Court decides on partial birth abortion, or did you stare blankly in space until the O.J. verdict was read? Are you all that igorant and vapid in your own lives? Do you not know if you got a good deal on a used car until it is proven in a "court of law"? Are you confused about who stole your wallet when you see someone running away with it, until it was proven in a "court of law"? I personally make all of my decisions and forumlate all of my opinions... wait for it... with no input or bearing from a COURT OF LAW!!!! Scandalous, I know. Fire up the brain instead of wating for someone else to do the figuring for you, it is rewarding. I am not asking you to throw Pac in jail, I am asking you to determine what you THINK is happening, not what you can "prove."

As for Floyd, he is probably mixed on whether he wants to fight Pac or not. I am sure that for all the bravado, he is in fear for his undefeated record that means so much to him. But at the same time, I think he wants the cash, and I think he legitimately thinks that Pac is soaked in PEDs. I have to tell you, I re-watched the Pac/Cotto fight last night and when Cotto's mouth is open and he looks like he is going to die in the 10-12th rounds.. Pac isn't even breathing hard. He isn't just fresh... he is literally not even breathing hard. He looks like 12 rounds to him were like a light jog. And before you cite the punches as the reason Cotto slowed down (which of course it contributed), watch the fight again and look at how many clean body/head shots Cotto landed, especially in the first half of the fight. If Pac is not taking PEDs, then he is the best conditioned athlete I have ever seen in my entire life.

It's not proof of anything, it's just odd. And both Floyd Sr. and Jr. noticed it, along with a handful of other people in the boxing game. So Floyd came in with a win/win strategy and he raised the testing issue, knowing that if Pac refused he would look bad, and if he complied then Floyd gets a fair fight. But what no one is taking into account is that Floyd could not possibly have known the extent of Pac's PED use, and thus (with a guy as fearless as Pac) it was probably very likely that Manny just agreed to the tests and signed the fight. Floyd dropping out then would cause the whole deal to backfire, and Floyd would look so bad there would be no way to recover except of course to come back and take the fight.

But as it turns out, the Mayweathers (for all their apparent idiocy and shameless, often cowardly behavior) were right, and Pac is involved enough in the juice that for what appears to be the first time in his career he passed on a multi-million dollar fight for reasons having nothing to do with the purse or the fight itself. For the first time, he is passing up the biggest possible fight, something that could vault him into the short list of all time greats for something of little or no importance in comparison.

So Pac gets to finish his career knowing he "stood up" to Mayweather at the negotiating, table, eh? Great story to tell your kids someday. What if Hagler had "stood" up to SRL and refused the bigger ring on "principle"? That would have cemented his legacy, hey? Sometimes you just have to deal with the BS in order to get something important to you.

    So by your own definition:

(If Manny wins via STRENGTH & POWER, he's on PED's
If he wins via SPEED & SKILL, he'll DESERVE ALL Credit (not on PED's).

He could not have been on PED's against DLH or Hatton and deserves "all the credit" for those victories.

In that case, on what grounds can you justify PBF's unprecedented (not included in the rules, NOT as per standard procedure) stipulation, unless he just doesn't want to fight Manny?

This is all well and good but it's pretty irrelevant to bring up money in an effort to probe Manny's motivation because unlike Floyd and much like Mosley Pac has shown more desire to prove himself and fight the best as opposed to worrying about his finances. I'm not saying he's going to fight for peanuts but it's not important enough that he even feels the need to involve himself in it. He pretty much just lets his team deal with getting him his financial worth while he concentrates on fighting.

It also won't hurt Pac financially that he's missing this payday the same way it will hurt Floyd. For one Pac isn't the one living a super lavish lifestyle and having several kids out of wedlock. He also isn't the one who's having financial and tax problems. On top of that I'm pretty sure he would have no problem making close to what he would have made for the Floyd fight in 2 or 3 other fights he'll have. Pac is a pretty big draw and since he's actually willing to fight tough opposition and Floyd isn't than I see Pac and not Floyd still having the chance to have another superfight somewhere down the road. I'm not sure how much more Floyd can hoodwink the fans by fighting guys beneath him. I don't think Floyd is financially secure enough to turn down this fight the same way Manny is. But Floyd has reached superstar status where people come see him more because of his name than because of his actual performances. Manny is just the opposite but he's getting close to reaching that name status as well.

I think either Floyd commits suicide or needs to be watched in the eventuality of being knocked out by Pacquaio. He probably deep down knows that and is trying to AVOID it at all costs. And that my friend is some SERIOUS matter.I don't like his antics but I don't want to see him severely injured or DEAD.

If he'd rather die than lose a fight then what better way for him to die than in the ring under the gloves of Pacquiao himself?

I think he might rather die AFTER he loses a fight, not die rather than fighting boxers he knows he can't lose to.You know when some fighters are never the same after their first loss, Mayweather, I think, fits this case, where his O is EVERYTHING for him inside the ring and in his life outside of it.Envious, he rather try to DISCREDIT Pacquaio's accomplishments outside the ring instead of in it.
