Brigg's mother in law works at Newark Vocational, next time I see her I'll have to tell her to let him know that he's just gonna embarass himself.

At the same time, if Briggs can make 265 and stifle takedowns, he'd be hell to fight standing up for most MMA participants.

If he actually bothered to throw a few punches, which is doubtful.

Briggs was training at ATT a few years ago, before his comeback in wich he won the WBO title, and was supposed to make his mma debut. Words out of the camp, for what it's worth, was that he was very impressive.

I know a guy that trained at ATT while Briggs was there. He said almost the exact same thing. He is a middleweight, but he said he sparred(kickboxing) with Briggs and he said Briggs would destroy most HW's if he could keep it standing. He told me they were not working on any BJJ with him at all. Just takedown defense and escapes/standups. I would love to see it.

Well, we have a guy who I would say is the hardest puncher MMA has ever seen with a single shot. Where are you REED?

If he was so impressive I think we would have seen him in the cage by now. I'm thinking there are probably still some big holes in his game that need to be ironed out.

Nah. In boxing, Briggs is never all that far away from another title shot worth a lot more than a successful mma career would provide even if he loses. If he wins, he's guaranteed more than about 10 mma careers for his next fight.

    Yes.

You honestly don't know how mikE's post has anything to do with what you wrote?

My bad. I actually thought Briggs was done with boxing because I thought the Sultan fight was his last, but I see he just fought last month. So I guess it is "possible" that he gets another payday.

However, since he has been pretty much retired the last 2 yrs it seems that he is going for the MMA route, in which that boxing payday won't happen.

I just read today that Briggs was caught using illegal PED's and the KO1 is being changed to an NC.

In my mind, a heavyweight boxer with Briggs' pedigree and resume and record is just always too close to another title shot in boxing to risk doing mma. Mma is far too brutal and dangerous for its payday when you have the boxing $ potential that Briggs does.
