I cant wait for MMA to get big enough where orginazations like Dreamforce and UFC can co-promote.

Unles the other organizations catch up with the UFC it will never happen but I agree it would be better for the fighters and the fans.

May not have to. If Fedor fights Werdum in March, then the final fight of his contract around July/Aug, then he could conceivably fight in the UFC by years end or beginning of 2011.

Sounds like you're already joining them together. [IMG]

if nothing else, Dana's recent discussions with M1 will serve to irritate Coker

This may sound odd, but I think it may be better if Fedor never signs with the UFC.

Sure, short term we lose out on some potential great fights between Fedor and the UFC heavies like Lesnar, Carwin, Velasquez, Mir and Dos Santos, and that would be a bad thing.

But if Fedor signs with the UFC, where does that leave Strike Force? It would in all likelyhood destroy them. And for the future of MMA, not just the UFC, but all of MMA, that would be a much worse thing, especially with the collapse of so many other MMA groups like EliteXC, Affliction, Bodog and others over the past few years.

CBS rolled the dice with EliteXC and lost. They rolled the dice again with Strike Force, and if Strike Force fails, that's it for MMA on network TV. The UFC is more likely to get a network TV deal if Strike Force is successful on CBS than they are if Strike Force fails, no matter how good the UFC does on PPV.

Network TV is all about copycats. Survivor was a huge hit, suddenly reality shows were everywhere. Who wants to be a Millionaire was a huge hit, suddenly game shows were all over prime time. If Strike Force becomes a hit, you can be damn sure the other networks will come begging for the UFC to air programming on their networks.

But if Strike Force fails, with the previous failure of EliteXC, that's all she wrote. If the UFC is really going to evolve and become mainstream, if they're gonna 'take over the world' like Dana White loves to say they're gonna do, they need to be on network TV.

And if Fedor leaves Strike Force before Strike Force has established itself as sustainable on it's own regardless of their roster...the way the UFC is now, Strike Force is done. And MMA's best opportunity is lost.

And that would be much worse than never getting to see Fedor fight Lesnar.

Damn, that is a good post. It's more than likely true, but Dana is gonna try to stamp out competitors as quickly as he can.

I have to admit though, watching Fedor run roughshod over the UFC heavyweight division would be pretty awesome. Brock still might not fight ever again. He might need more surgery on his intestinal tract.

If you like it, feel free to edit it, or have me re-write it, and put it on the main page. Any new content is good content, right?

Godfather and the other owners have the keys to the site as well. If you want to put stuff up though, PM me because there's a bit we need to discuss and you might wind up disagreeing. I think the site looks more legitimate with people's real names on their articles. You may prefer anonymity.

That would make a decent piece to put up there though with perhaps a bit more expansion on the subject matter. Then again, it might stand well alone.

Personally I think you could write good articles on MMA.

I do prefer my anonymity and would not use my real name. And if I were to use a fake name, I would like one better than 'Don Shuler' which Reed insisted on.

good post. I like Strikeforce, and when i sit down and watch one of their cards....i'm hoping that it is gonna be good, not just for my sake as a viewer, but for their sake. Whereas i don't mind seeing UFC get bitten in the arse once in a while.

However, competition is a double-edged sword. Sure we are being deprived of Lesnar-Fedor for now....but if Strikeforce becomes bigger and bigger, these unfeasible dream match-ups are gonna crop up more and more.

One thing that needs to happen, and if Strikeforce were to get big enough, it might be in everybody's interest....is co-promotion, not on a regular basis, but when the fans really demand it....that'd be a big pill for Dana and the UFC to swallow, but it is a long way off from even being a consideration

A MMA blog section would be cool. And yeah, come up with some fake name then. Something that sounds good. Like Roger Hemmingway

TFK, it's your choice, but just out of curiosity, what have you got against using your real name?

That's a good point actually. You'll get a handful of dominant fighters in each organisation, and fans'll be left wishing for them to fight each other.

    Co-promotion would be great.
