I don't think Clottey is shitty at all. More like an underachiever with not much self belief.

He's OK - pretty slow, which will suit Pac to a tee.

bold move by pacquiao if this is true. whether he wins or doesn't, he's gonna be roughed up for sure. not a wise move if the plan is to fight mayweather later this year.

I disagree! I think after the Pacquiao/Mayweather fight falling off, neither fighter can ask the public to buy a tune up for their next fights.

Pacquiao will make a statement with this fight. Your right it will rough even if he wins. But that's the whole point in making a statement.

Floyd in my opinion needs a harder fight more than Pacquiao because of his recent competition. Good luck trying to sell the fight with Paulie.

I guess Clottey's strength is good. Other than that, he is not a good fighter. It is just funny that Floyd wouldn't get within a mile of Clottey but a tiny blown up midget fights Floyd's fights for him. Pacman has humiliated Floyd the last couple years. He literally shit all over his legacy when Floyd bitched out and quit, running from Cotto, Margarito and anyone else with a pulse.

Floyd makes unprecedented and ridiculous demands and then decides ok I can't fight the best so I am going to fight Paulie Malignaggi, lol. Anyone who defends Floyd has no regard for boxing at all. Floyd is cancer to boxing. I have a feeling this fake ass thug will get taken out on a Las Vegas side street soon so at least Karma will be served. I just want to see him stomped in the ring, but with his microscopic balls, ands exceptional talent, we never will.

Clottey is a tough fight for anyone. Not sure if Pac can penetrate his high guard easily.

Credit to Manny - this is pretty much the hardest fight he could possibly take. In fact, Clottey might be worth a punt in this.

My thoughts exactly. Clottey is no joke. Just yesterday, I was saying I wouldn't only watch Pac or Mayweather if they fight each other or Mosley, but this is an interesting road for Pac.

You mean a guy moving up from lightweight, where he didn't belong, to welterweight, where he DEFINITELY didn't belong?

I think Floyd would beat Manny and maybe even stop him, but Manny is taking the tougher fights right now.

I'm still not convinced Manny is a welterweight and Clottley is one tough welter weight. This is one fight I will definitely watch. As I said in a previous post Manny has fights out there that will interest the gen pop and Manny will take those fights. Floyd on the other hand is going to bore us to death against Paulie.

Tough fight. Offensively, Clottey doesn't give Manny as many problems as Cotto, but he's just as strong and more durable. I thought they'd go for the Foreman fight. My hope was that he'd go back to 140, just to re-establish who's the boss from 140-147, but i'll take this. And yes, Mayweather-Mallignaggi is a shitty fight to begin with, and in comparison to this, even more so.

well...let's see if this is true...I will say this...if Pac fights and beats Clottey his welterweight resume surpasses Floyd's in the span of two fights.

Arum is an idiot risking pac against Clottey and shitting all over any potential we had for pac vs floyd later in the year. OK, this is why you don't have an almost dead old man negotiate for you. He does not give a shit anymore he will be dead soon.

Clottey would beat the shit out of Yuri Foreman. IMO this is a far riskier fight than Foreman would have been. Nobody looks good against Clottey win or lose. This is a pointless fight really. I really can't believe this is even being considered.

    This fight makes no sense.

I hate Clottey, he's a negative bitch, but he's tough and cagey, and basically not an easy guy to beat in the slightest.

I don't give him much chance of winning, but it seems like an unnecessarily tough fight without much reward.

I doubt Manny KO's him either.

Clottey is with top rank however, is he not? Maybe Pac can fight Foreman then after, then Margarito or JCC Jr, keep it in the TR family..

It would be strange for Manny to fight Clottey. As others have alluded to, he's tough as old boots and difficult to look good against. That said, he's one of the best handful of WW's active right now and when Manny wins, which he will because Clottey ALWAYS finds a way to lose his biggest fights, he deserves props again for fighting yet another guy that Floyd doesn't want any part of.

Indeed, but like you said, you can't look good against Clottey. He's too negative, too defensive. And a KO is very unlikely too.

I'd be very, very impressed if Pacquiao managed to stop Clottey.

You've hit the nail. Arum's first concern appears to be not having to share the promotional pie any further, not with the best interests of Manny's career. Foreman and Clottey are both silly fights for Pac.

Clottey would have been a better opponent for Floyd and Pauli for Manny at 140. Or even better Bradley.

I dunno man, Clottey is hard as nails and pretty big. It's not an outlandish thought.

Clottey always loses his biggest fight, even though he seems to be heading for victory in most of them at some point. It's like he just can't help it...

He didn't look any bigger than Cotto. An inch or two taller, but a tad less chunky.

No way Clottey beats Pacquiao, not a chance. He's just not good enough. We're talking about Pacquiao here, one of the best fighters ever.

Clottey is basically a world class spoiler, he'll make Pacquiao look bad, he'll make it a tough fight, but he won't win.

To lose to Clottey Pacman would have to take him very, very lightly, and just be going through the motions etc, which is unlikely, given how he's looked lately.

I would much rather see Pacman - Bradley. Sure, little Timmy would get smashed, but it would be a fun fight.
