I had that same feeling. I won't outright say he would have won, but to me it did look that way.

I think Faber gives Aldo a good fight, win or lose. He won't get blown out.

We will have to disagree on that one, Z. I don't think Faber lasts the first round with Aldo. Its simple, a really talented athlete going against a master of his craft. Aldo wins easily.

I'm banking on Faber's speed being something that troubles Aldo. We will see though. I'm not picking Faber to win, I don't think I could do that. I just think he gives a good account of himself with a slight possibility of winning.

Good description. I also felt Varner was in complete control, when my stream went down. I had to check a gif to see the end. The knee-choke combo was perfectly executed. Actually not a bad idea to go for a choke, if the opponent is badly stunned. Most guys will try to knock their opponent out, maybe a choke attempt against a dazed opponent is not such a bad idea.

Even though I think Aldo may may be a tough matchup for him, I would never count Faber out. He is a tough kid who can cause a hell of a lot of trouble for Aldo if he got him to the ground. Faber has some brutal G&P.

faber would be in very big trouble against aldo. faber has such shitty stand up skills and makes a lot of stupid decisions when he fights

REED Knows Aldo Wasn't in FIGHTING Shape, but he Looked SIGNIFICANTLY LARGER than Faber...Taller AND Bigger...Either this Dude Cuts A TON Of Weight or he's Gonna have a RIDICULOUS Edge in Size, Come Fightnight...

    He'll B SEVERAL Inches Taller @ Worst...

Faber gets a lot of grief from MMA fans, most likely because of his 'pretty boy surfer' look, but the guy is tough. He hung in there against Brown in the rematch with 2 badly hurt hands and never stopped trying to win the fight. A lot of fighters would've quit or would've gone into defense mode, but Faber was still throwing elbows hoping for a miracle.

I like Aldo in a fight against Faber, but I wouldn't count Faber out.

Ditto. I was going to say, no fucking way is Faber 5'6.

5'6 is approaching the normal looking height range, Faber looks proper small.

Also, I've never thought much of Faber. He is sort of fun to watch I guess, but he is more style over substance. He is kind of flashy and athletic, but he's not that great in any area.

I expect Aldo to put the beatdown on Faber.

By the way, what kind of a name is Urijah Faber? What country would a name like that originate from?

And TFK - I agree, Faber is tough, he's clearly a proper fighter, I just don't think he's that good. I'd be very surprised if he beat Aldo.

I only have a sherdog thread to go buy and according to them he is a "european jew".

I'm 6' tall which is decent but I think 6'1'' is the ideal height.

Personally, REED Looooooooves Faber (REED's Always Been a "Bells & Whistles" Kind of Fan) but U're Right, he's More of a "Style Over Substance" Guy...He's QUICK & EXPLOSIVE but Not Overly TECHNICAL...

REED Often Sees Comparisons in Boxers & MMAists (Remember REED's Roy Jones-GSP Analogy?) & Faber Reminds REED of an MMA Version of Sugar Shane Mosley...Like Faber, Mosley is ATHLETIC, EXPLOSIVE, TOUGH, yet Not the Most TECHNICALLY SOUND Guy in his Profession....

I dunno who said it, but whoever thought that Varner had Henderson's measure and was in control of that fight wasn't paying attention. Both guys were cautious to a fault, but I was watching Henderson get in and out comfortably and landing kicks to Varner's midsection over and over. Eventually, when the shot came...it seemed out of desperation to me and he tapped real quick.

I like Varner, but he was not winning that fight.

I couldn't have said it better. Faber is a world class Wrestler. He doesn't have world class submissions nor does he have world class stand up. Aldo has all three.

i actually hate ben henderson almost as much as varner. Cerrone is a bit of an asshole but i like his fighting style. I also thought the cowboy beat henderson in their fight
