There is no way this fight should be a PPV fight. It should be on Boxing after dark or WCB "FREE" on HBO.

Split of the purse 50-50 with 60-40 going to the winner if by knock out. This makes it interesting, since Hopkins is so cautious until the later rounds.

farce. If Hopkins doesn't wanna fight anymore he should retire.

In other sports there is a division based on AGE. Boxing is no such sport. I give him CREDIT for fighting at 45. A fight with Jones Jr. is the closest we'll get to a SENIOR circuit in boxing.

This is the fight that makes most sense from a FINANCIAL and RISK analysis standpoint. Obviously a Green, Dawson fight would be preferable.

Haven't seen Jones fight since his KO loss to Tarver. Likewise, haven't seen Hopkins fight since his UD win over Tarver. I think I'll keep the streak going.

You stopped watching Hopkins after one of the best wins of his career?

He deserved enormous, BIBLICAL credit for fighting at world class at 45. Jones is a huge step back for him in terms of his standing as a relevant, world class fighter. He'd get more credit for retiring.

A 10% incentive for Hopkins. Jones will look like William "Chipmunk" Joppy after the final round, if his punch resistance isn´t completely gone. Oh well Hopkins can´t punch anyway.

And people complain about the heavyweights.

I hope Roy kills him. I mean, severs his spinal column and ruptures his spleen.

And then Roy dies in the dressing room afterwards, Toney suffers an arterial burst during an eating spree, and Coach Merk is indicted for illegal crossbow possession. Oh and Floyd gets hit by a bus trying to hand out free food to those less "blessaged" than he is.

Then we dont have to worry about any of these mothers no more.

Great. This is all we need: another reason for RJJ to worry about getting KTFO. First, he fights cautious as it is. Second, he was KTFO in his last fight. And now, he stands to lose money if he's KTFO. Expect RJJ to fight Hopkis like he did Tarver in the third fight.

And actually, Hopkins has a 20% incentive, not 10%.

It's Comical how DESPERATE Bernard Is for PAYBACK...@ this Stage of their Careers ALL of the Pressure is on Bernard to Not Only Win, but to KO Roy...Since Everybody Else Seems to B Doing it, Bernard HAS To....

Thats why I never liked Bernard. Bernard is the typical midget child.....always resentful of the attention that others get.

he's also very picky about who he fights and when.

Admittedly it wasn't on purpose. I just happened to miss those fights although I have RJJ-Tito on video I just don't care to watch it. The only fights I really wish I could catch would be Hopkins-Pavilik and both guys fights with Calzaghe.

And was that Tarver win really the best of Hopkins career? I find it hard to give too much credit when your opponent is basically a walking punching bag and isn't offering anything back. It's just like Shane with Margarito, that was an overrated win too. So based on that shouldn't the Pavlik win be considered Hopkins best over the Tarver one?

I think Hopkins is just doing it for the money. I really don't think he cares about getting even with Roy.

wow how much money will they both get for this? it does seem rather shameful on hopkins' part to still push for this fight.

if he loses he will forever cement his place below Jones in any all time ranking.

if he wins.... does it make their head-to-head matches a wash? Hopkins the more green fighter in match #1, Jones the more shot fighter in match #2?

Hopkins should only get the attention of Jermaine's living room, with his arse being on the mantlepiece and all, but I have to disagree in part, a grandiose sense of worth is not only consistant with narcissism, but also a symptom of sociopathy, and you gots ta choose, infant or predator?../ dibs on the tail.

Hopkins is indeed a sociopath. Unlike Ricky Womack, Hopkins has not got the courtesy to clear off.

Ironic that Jones fights Tarver, Calzaghe & now Hopkins whilst shot after going 10 years without fighting a top drawer Light heavyweight during his prime. I doubt there's a precedent for that in boxing history.

It proves he wasn't scared of anyone. It also proves that the other guys he beat were worthy and that no one could touch him in his prime. Hopkins included!:cheer:

I've always been a Hopkins fan and a Roy "hater", but this fight means nothing for Hopkins. About as irrelevant as you can get. He can knock Roy stone cold out, in the first 30 seconds of the 1st round and it doesn't mean a lick for his legacy or his rivalry with Roy.

He's got nothing to gain but a payday from this fight.

Roy? I used to be a "hater" but I never wished ill of him and I thought he was a pretty good announcer. I wish he would retire. Every fight he takes (win or lose) will exact more permanent damage on his mind and on his body. He had the chance to get out, with a lot of money in the bank, a clean bill of health and having a permanent ringside seat with HBO that Lennox Lewis now inhabits......................definitely!

I really don't know why he fights on, unless the "record label" he owns/owned sucked him dry of more money then we think. :dunno:

1 Loss Virgil Hill WASN'T a "Top Drawer" Lightheavy???...w/the Exception of MichalSHITski, Roy Jones Beat EVERY Top Rated Light Heavy of his Era....RING Magazine (PRE-Dela Days) Kept Ranking 'em & Roy Kept Knocking 'em Down..."10 Years" REED's ASS...

There's CERTAINLY a "Precedent" for GROSS EXAGGERATIONS when it Comes to Roy Jones...

I'm actually pretty excited for this fight,
2 of the best middle/lt heavies of all time fighting each other!

Yes Jones is way beyond shot, but to me this is still an intriguing fight, and in my opinion the only viable fight out there for Jones. Hopefully he gets brutally KO'd, the worse he loses the more it enhances his own legacy, imagine that!

Just had this convo last night about Roy...guys he beat at light heavy (and super middle) went on to win titles. Not only win titles but were ranked in the top 10 for years to come.

say what you want about their quality but he fought 'em and beat 'em.

I think Pavlik is a more impressive win than Tarver.

Pavlik was young and undefeated and Nard just schooled him. It was an insane performance given Hopkins' age, he looked fast and sharp.

Pavlik was pretty much tailor made for him but still, it was a hell of a performance.
