Boxing is putting up bigger numbers now than in any other time in history. We just saw 2 million buy PPVs back to back. Boxing is dead????

From a personal standpoint, I have less interest because my favorites have retired, yes.

This is my point. I mean my favorite is retired well not really but he needs to be retired cause I'm tired of seeing his ass get ko'd. Roy Jones Jr please retire. But still even though he ain't a force in the sport I still watch the fights and every time I watch a fight I get hyped cause its the sport where 1 punch can end the game. No other sport has this and that's what keeps me going. As far as the talent is concerned. There's talent out there they just don't have the big big superstar type names.

By the way football (american football) is the greatest sport of all-time for the record. I'll Holla 5000

From my perspective, numbers don't mean shit. In fact, my guess is that the better numbers boxing does, the worse shape it's in as far as good fights getting made consistently. And the key word here is, "consistently."

I think this presumes that all 'good' matchups are on ppv. A faulty premise, imo.

I don't think I'll ever be "done" with boxing.

I was though extremely disgusted with the whole Mayweather-Pacquiao circus, but I assume they will fight in late 2010 provided they win their next fights.

So Reed's fight for the integrity to clean up the sport, was really just a hollow temporary act of defense for Fraud Mayweather?.

Whatever dude. I never said I was done with the sport merely that I'm not the fan I used to be. It's mostly because I don't always have the time to dedicate to watching tv like I used to and most of the fights I miss is because I'm away on deployments for 6 months at a time.

So, sorry to disappoint you but I'll still be here to hand you your ass everytime you decide to talk out of it.

I really can't comprehend how anyone can actually like Boxing. The industry, the politics, the bullshit, the lowly forms of "human" life who support the sport Arum, King, Dibella, Shaw (all lowly greasy scumbags.)I have always hated it.

I was making a distinction (which I understand is difficult for some of you.) There is nothing like a classic fight, nothing. When I saw Gatti/Ward, I couldn't sleep. Same way when Forrest defeated Mosley, Wright beat Mosely:lol::lol:Sorry, you get my point. We all have fights that we love and watch literally 40 times. I love a good fight. It is Boxing, the industry that I abhor. Sorry for not being a brainless fan boy who looks at a totally empty cup and says it is full.

Boxing needs to have more tournaments and less 25 fight "prospects". Like Vanes, the dude Ouma just fought had something like 27 victories(look it up) and in 2010 his biggest fight is Kassim Ouma. The Industry needs to be more big picture and less about creating comic book superheros who never lose. Basically, do what Dana White has done with the UFC. The UFC does a fantastic job promoting itself. Best of all, all the "name" fighters fight each other. The "Only" prime boxer who that can be said is Manny Pacquiao.

So no, I am not at all seeing a contradiction in saying boxing absolutely sucks and I can't wait for the next fight. There isn't one. Sorry, if that rubs the stupidly optimistic fanboys the wrong way.I love the fights. I hate boxing.

boxing hasn't changed all that much since the late 90s.

can't say for sure that it's gotten worse, but ppv numbers have gone through the roof since the post-prison tyson days.

if anything, i think internet has been great for the sport and has garnered more fans than the 90s.

there has been plenty of great and significant fights in the last decade and that's not about to change anytime soon just because mayeather and pacquiao aren't fighting each other when we want them to fight.

if i did lose any interest, it's probably in the lower weight divisions where i actually used to give a fuck about.

You can't say you hate "boxing" then.

You obviously love boxing, but hate the boxing industry. Which is fair enough.

The way I describe it is, I love what happens inside the ring. The problem is what happens outside of the ring.

Which is essentially what I just described ;)

You like boxing, but not the industry.

I guess that would apply to me too, but I love boxing so much I choose to ignore the industry and the politics and not let it bother me too much.

You've got to understand Mex, Ike's too 'intelligent' to like anything or anyone. He's just a lofty observer of humanities sweaty circus, it's all beneath him. Sure he watches boxing all the time, gets excited when he does so, then spends half his free time here talking about those boxing matches. But that doesn't mean he 'likes' it. He despises it.

I do like Ike, but yes, I wish he'd give it a rest with his lofty, self imposed depising of all humankind.

He's the archetypal pseudo nihilist. He probably carries a purposefully tatty and coffee stained copy of Thus Spoke Zarathustra everywhere he goes :kidcool:

Typical behavior from a guy who was teased as a teenager and probably sodomized a couple of times as a child. I can just see him now with his bi-focals, greasy hair and pocket protector in his basement cursing the gods and swearing to reinvent himself as a confident, chip on his shoulder, overbearing jerkoff.

I wish you would just stop responding. You just aren't smart enough. You are the same guy who was shocked when you learned the difference between "your" and "you're". :atu::atu:English is your first language as well. You clearly missed the entire spirit of my post and mex and tfk(of all people) understood it right away. I was addressing you in particular because I understood you do not have the brain power to make distinctions. Again, I am not the smartest guy ever, just smarter than you and by a lot.
