According to Michael Marley of Examiner.com, unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr. isn’t moving forward with his fight with World Boxing Association welterweight champion Shane Mosley. Marley states that a source within the Mayweather camp says that Floyd has added up what he’d likely make in his bout with Mosley, which is $10 million, and compared it to the $40 million that he’d get in a fight with the smaller Manny Pacquiao and sees that as the easier fight compared to Mosley.

I was waiting for this to be posted here. I will wait to see a real reporter and a real website report this. Just a no name reporter hoping to get lucky if the fight falls through.

    FUCKING COWARD!!!!!

Mayweather fucked up the chance to make 40 million vs. Pacquiao by asking for special testing...

What he thinks that the 2nd time around Pacquiao is going to agree to testing???

Pacquiao is fighting CLOTTEY a very dangerous opponent and top 3-4 Welterweight...if/when he wins...what you think he is going to do?? WASTE 2-3 months negotiating w/ Mayweather?? HELL NO..he will go ahead and fight Mosley.

Marley's latest article says it's just the usual posturing and heckling over money splits.

He's probably considering just agreeing to the compromise that Manny put forward....the random urine testing, the 30 days no blood testing prior to the fight etc...

What i've been thinking is....if Floyd is confident that he can beat Manny, based on what he's seen of Manny, then really what does it matter to him if Manny is on something, as long as he wins?.....if he somehow loses, then he casts doubt on the validity of Manny's victory in light of him not agreeing to a strict drug testing regime. Either way, he's 40 million richer.

Pacquiao is the more dangerous fight for PBF IMO.
I doubt that PBF will back out against Mosley now. Even for PBF it would be too obvious.
It would be kind of amusing to read the PBF apologists attempt to defend it though.

Adam, I've been saying this all along.

I said if Floyd was truly confident he'd beat Pacquiao, he wouldn't give a FUCK what Manny was taking, and if anything, could use at as a method of nausing Pacman and getting in his head.

If he started taunting Pacman, saying things like "Yeah Manny, I know you're roided up to your ears, but I don't even care, I'll still bash you" etc - that could affect Pacquiao's confidence.

But now? The way I see it is the psychological factor is completely with Manny. He'll be more confident than ever going up against Floyd now. Why? Because it's pretty obvious Floyd is shit scared of him, and doesn't REALLY fancy his chances against Manny.

Floyd should have done the fucking math before ruining the Pac-man negotiations.

He really is a stupid fuck.

Yep and Mayweather will probably fight Morales and try to sell it as legit because of Erik's win over Manny.

Ha, the funny thing is, it wouldn't even surprise me. I can just imagine it, Floyd yapping about how Morales is a legend, and that he is the only guy to hold a victory over Manny at the higher weights etc.

Plus Morales is coming back @ 147. Therefore Floyd would be fighting a true welter.

There's NO Justifiable Excuse for Floyd to NOT Face Sugar Shane NEXT...Since the Berto Fight Fell Thru, Floyd has NOfuckingCHOICE but to Fight Sugar Shane...Shane ISN'T as Marketable as Pacquiao, so Quite Naturally the Money will B LOWER in this Fight...

Pac had NO Problem Turning Down 40 Mil for a LESSER Purse Against a TOUGH Welter...The Pressure is NOW ON Floyd to Do Likewise...NO EXCUSES!!...

The pressure and spotlight, SHOULD STILL,.. be on the performance enhancing drugs cheat,.. see this is the thing,.. we've got a bazerk explosion for a matter that doesn't concern Pacquiao's drug use, as if it were a shovel of dirt to bury the issue. If Fraud withdraws from this fight, after Mosely accepts the random tests, and a purse split,.. then Fraud's the bitch, Fraud withdrew, Fraud ruined the fight,...just the way Pacquiao did,... it was him who withdrew,..it was him who wrecked the fight on the account of his intention to come in unaturally enhanced, and there's no eleviation for Pacquiao groupies to be had here, despite the fact that they're trying.

    disagREED

The pressure is on Erik Morales. He never fought JMM who Floyd shut out.

If he's going to come back at welterweight it should be against Mayweather.

Gabe Montoya, a reporter at Maxboxing with a reputation for being anti-Floyd, responded to this article on their forum and said there's more to the story... and if the fight doesn't happen, it won't be Mayweather's fault.

He has actually been covering the story so I'm going to wait this one out.

Yeah, this is a fight where a lot of things can wreck it...namely purse split. Floyd really has a chance to shut a lot of people up if he goes to Mosley now and then to the very probable juicer.

I don't believe this fight will happen.

Mosley is ancient. But even at his advanced age, he still doesn't fit the description of a guy Floyd Jr. would be inclined to fight these days.

I've a suspicion that what will happen is that he will try to make it appear that he wanted the fight and pursued it without ever really intending to go through with it in the first place. Something happens and the fight will be a no go. He'll posture. Then he'll fight a Matthew Hatton or something. Some no hoper.

    I hope I'm wrong though.

As old and past-it as Shane is, it'd still be a good fight.

Floyd is becoming one of the most disappointing athletes of recent times. Its funny cause early in his career he had a well earned rep for seeking the biggest challenges, but I dont know what the hell happened.

He really didn't, though, except for a maybe taking on Genaro and then Manfredy right away. Sure, he snuck in Corrales who was considered a big threat, but when he moved up to Lightweight to face Castillo, there really wasn't much worry that he would beat Castillo easily. That fight, imo, has been viewed as far more risky in hindsight.

So, he left 2 of his 3 biggest threats at jl (freitas and casamayor) and he never fought anyone at lightweight other than castillo. After that, it's all downhill with some Royesque wins, but never a career-defining win. All the while, he missed out on Tszyu and the big threats at welter, except for DLH.
