Apparently he might be fighting Martinez next.

Why the hell is he fighting a junior middleweight? What on earth is going on?

I'm still so surprised at Pavlik. He really did strike me as a fight anyone kind of guy.

If he fights Martinez, that would be Rubio, Espino and then jr middle Martinez in a row.

That Nard loss must have seriously dented his confidence.

I think Martinez will beat Pavlik.

    Really?

Well it wouldn't shock me I guess.

Pavlik was outslicked with ease by Nard. Martinez is slick, and arguably beat Tall Paul.

As long as he can take the odd hard shot by Pavlik, he could win.

But still, he is an aging junior middleweight. On paper at least, it's not the sort of opponent Pavlik should be fighting.

According to rumors he has been drunk ever since Hopkins beat him, probably before that too

Are you joking or is that for real? I haven't heard anything like that.

There were similar rumours about Cotto, though I think they were very exaggerated.

I think it's a very good opponent. Other than Williams, who should he fight instead?

Yes, I have read plenty of rumors about his problems with alcohol. I don't know if there is truth to them

Yep. There's not much at 160. Martinez is a legitimate threat.

Why the complaint over Martinez? Williams,Martinez and Pavlik could make for an entertaining round of fights against one another.

Maybe I overreacted a bit. I guess with the Super 6 guys tied up, who else is there?

I know Martinez is a good fighter, don't get me wrong, but it's mainly just that he is a 154 pounder really, that made me think this.

But despite becoming known at 147, Tall Paul is a natural middleweight if I've ever seen one, and Martinez arguably beat him at 160.

And thinking about it, Martinez certainly has the style to beat Pavilk, if he keeps busy, moves a lot, and doesn't let Kelly get into a rhythm.

I take it back, it's an interesting fight actually, I look forward to it

I've kind of put Pavlik completely out of my mind until I actually see him in the ring with a relevant opponent.

I think he HAS had lots of medical problems along with who knows whatever else is going on with him.

I'd like to see him fight somebody decent, sooner rather then later.......but I'm way beyond the point of looking forward to a Kelly Pavlik fight.

Martinez is a good opponent for him BTW. I could see Pavlik easily losing this fight.

However, until he's actually in the ring with Martinez, Pavlik is completely off my radar until then.

I know I know, that's partly what made me change my mind

I just had it in my head that Martinez was a Jr Middle and Pavlik shouldn't be fighting him, but Martinez is clearly legit, and arguably beat Tall Paul at 160.

i dont get it. pavlik gets shitted on for not fighting another so called jr. middle in williams and now he gets shitted on again for fighting a guy whose last fight was at middleweight and by many observers' opinion did enough to beat williams?

Admit it. You actually did read the whole thread but didn't want to waste your initial outrage by just clicking on a different topic.

Which one? Give the name. When the second best middleweight is Felix Sturm (who wouldn't step in the ring with Pavlik if he got a billion) and other top rate guys are likes of Sebastian Sylvester, there is nothing wrong with this fight

There are good middleweights in England like Matt Macklin. Let's face it, we know Kelly doesn't have an issue with gimmes vs Brit flops.

Macklin is solid but still way too untested. Walking through Asikainen is not that big of an achievement. If Pavlik fought him, he would be accused of facing a green nobody.

It's a decent fight....i'm not overly-keen, mainly because i'd like to see Martinez stay at 154, and ideally face Williams in a well-deserved rematch at that weight.

I'd pick Martinez to win.....he'd have a very considerable speed advantage, but Pavlik's size and power would make this one a good styles match-up.
