It's funny to me that Floyd lovers are quick to mention the box office of Floyd's last few fights but never mention just how f*cking god-awful boring all of those fights were. LOL!!! No replay value in any of that sh*t.
Well, IF he wins then yes....it would have paid off. But as it stands, i think this fight for him is at least just a tough as the Pacman fight, yet he won't be getting the same kind of money, nor would he get the same kind of recogntion should he win....also, win or lose....i don't think it'll make for a spectacle that will get casual viewers jumping out of their seats. He could end up winning a very tough fight, only to be told he beat an old man and didn't look that good in doing so.
No way Mosley has as much chance of beating Floyd as Pacquiao. Pacman matches up with Floyd much better, he's younger, faster, and more unpredictable than Mosley.
I see where you're coming from, it's just my opinion. I would pick Floyd against Pacquaio and i'll probably be picking him against Mosley too. Mosley's not going to give Floyd as many openings as Manny...offensively, he should make good use of his jab.....like Oscar should've done.
Mosley lost to Vernon Forrest twice. He lost to Winky twice. He arguably lost to Oscar. He went life and death with Mayorga and Vargas {Part One}. The man was not even a very good welter in his prime....he beat Oscar, good win but close, and then beats some Brit Bum, a fat fella with a bald head.....and Shannon Taylor. The lad is so far past his unimpressive steroid enhanced best its beyond words. And you know what? Floyd is going to turn fag and let it go the distance. And somehow, in the midst of all this shite, Floyd "up's" Manny, despite Manny taking on a guy who is smack bang on form, bull strong and who has very very narrow losses to Maracheato and Cotto on his resume. Sure. I dont give a fuck how much money Floyd makes for this. Pacman is likely to be facing a far more dangerous foe. Is Floyd-Mosley a good fight? Sure, I Have no beef with it, per se....but its not Hearns-Leonard I so lets not pretend it is.
There I have to vehemently disagree with you. For as great a fighter as Mosley is, and has been for years, defense has never been one of his strong points, even when he was at his speedy best. Pacman's defense has improved exponentially. In his last 3 fights, he's looked less hittable than Mosley has at any point in his career. Mosley has always been a sucker for the jab, and when he punches, he commits a lot, and leaves himself wide open for a counter. Not only does Pacman now have excellent head movement and lateral movement, but he seems to be mastering the Duran trick of slipping and punching at the same time. I have absolutely no doubt, Floyd is going to be able to tag Shane easier than he would Pacman.
Whatever! I'm making an opinion that the health of the sport is dependent on the boxers who provide a good show. And Floyd doesn't even compare to Pacquiao when it comes to excitement. Remember when Wlad turned chickensh*t and produced that farce against Ibragimov in a unification fight which had even non-casual fans interested? And then we got that piece of sh*t fight? That's what Floyd is. Good for promoting crap which doesn't and hasn't ever lived up to the hype.
Dude! When they were looking face to face with Kellerman inbetween them, Floyd could barely even look into Shane's eyes without almost crying. This is not a fight Floyd wanted. When they get it on, Floyd is going to apply that usual backfoot bullsh*t running away pot-shot style and try to win on points. At the end of the night, Shane is gonna wonder if a fight even took place.:: It's up to Shane to force the action and whack this pussy into the grave.
Irish come on. Mosley has won some and lost some, but that's because he's taken risks, and fought the very best around, in every division he's been in. He's also generally looked worse at 154, and Vernon just seemed to have his number, he ahd the exact style to beat Mosley, the timing, the reach, the jab, and just the overall mechanics of Vernon matched up perfectly with Shane. But Shane is a better fighter than Clottey. Clottey can fight, but he is a choker, and has never won a big fight. You mentioned Clottey's narrow loss to Plasterito, but did you see Shane batter the absolute shit out of Plasterito, in as one sided a fight as you can get? (Though to be fair, Mosley fought the unplastered plasterito, who is obviously a complete bum without his magic handwraps :: ).
Shane at least convincingly beat a prime Oscar at 147 in 2000. Floyd on the other hand went life and death with an Oscar who wasn't even half as good as the version Shane fought in 2000. And Floyd barely edged Oscar in that fight.:: A f*cking shot old Oscar that is.
...Pacquaio's punch out-put is higher than Shane's, and so on account of that, and not defense per se, i think they'll be more openings. I think Shane will start off cagey vs Floyd, using the jab....only if that isn't working will he become more aggressive. If Pacman fights cagey, then with his movement, you have a point...but i'd expect him to fight aggressive.
I agree that Floyd certainly looked pretty nervous of Shane, even though Shane is one of the least scary top boxers around :: I'm a real Mosley fan, but by fuck I hope he beats Floyd, and he DOES have a realistic chance, but the safe pick is Floyd by boring, pot shotting decision. Mosley is 38, and I just don't think he'll be quite sharp enough these days to beat someone as slippery and defensive as Floyd. Plus, as I said, Mosley has always had so-so defense.
Everybody here knows including REED and Neil that Oscar in his 1997-99 prime would tear Floyd apart.:: Neither of them were impressed at all with Floyd's performance against the shot deteriorated Oscar. Floyd's been very fortunate in that he's able to fight guys who are long past their best.
Neil's probably long forgotten in his relentless lust for Floyd's tiny little shrivelled testicles, partly from all the xylocaine - but he said right after that fight "I wasn't impressed, I thought Floyd would have won far more convincingly against a part time boxer/boxing promoter".
Shane isn't a scary guy but face to face with Floyd, you could see he was a much bigger and stronger guy and that put fear into Floyd. Floyd knows Shane has no fear of him and is coming after him like a freight train. This ain't another case of a midget coming up 2 weight classes to meet Floyd. Floyd's gonna have to contend with a bigger man. It's gonna be fun!:cheer:
Exactly. And REED has been silent on the subject since it happened. Put prime Oscar in there and Floyd is dead!
Floyd is plenty strong. He should be, he has had plenty of time to acclimatise to 147. Dont underestimate Floyd's strength.
Make no mistake: Shane IS old but he's also both successful and relevant in his weightclass. Good fight for Floyd. No one should have an issue or excuses over this fight.
No one SHOULD....but i fully expect, if Floyd does win, reading opinions on May 2nd along the lines of, 'so what?'
Yeah good points....but he is still dangerous, and Pacman is still a naturally smaller fighter. Yes, Plasterito probably had the plasters on when he beat Clottey.
Yes, the villain has ended up OWNING the much celebrated pseudo nice-guy, and people's champ. I love Fraud's paranoia,.. everybody clean in boxing SHOULD be paranoid about thier opponent,.. this is the way proper regulation can be installed,.. I hope he also demands more stringent handwraps scanning,.. not only one person present while his opponent wraps his hands and then leaves the dressing room, only for his opponents camp to re-wrap them while they're gone,.. watch the fucker aaaaallll the way to the ring.
