To break away from the tedious "Floyd is a pussy", "Manny is a cheat" bollocks that has been sucking the life out of this board lately, we now have one of the fights alot of people have been looking to see, how do you guys break it down and what do you see as each guys keys to success? Does Shane have the tools to get through against Floyd?

    Floyd's key's to success:

    1. Train hard (but this is a given)
    2. Pay attention to defense (this is also a given)
    3. Make him miss and make him pay (this will discourage Shane's offense)

    Shane:

    1. da body da body da body....

I just can't see how Shane could do it anymore. These days he is only effective as a counter puncher and Floyd leaves no openings for that. I guess he has to move forwards and land heavily to the body but I can't see it having nearly enough effect.

Anyways, Mosley's key to success is to hit Floyd real hard an often and not to let Floyd hit him in return

    Mayweather's keys to victory:
    1. Hit Shane to the head and the body
    2. Don't allow Shane to him you to the head and the body

    Shane's keys to victory:
    1. Hit Floyd to the head and the body
    2. Don't allow Floyd to him you to the head and the body

The outcome of the fight depends completely on these factors for each fighter.

Floyd should try winning rounds clearly by throwing more than 10 punches

Contrary to popular belief, where they say you have to pressure Floyd. Yes, but a CONTROLLED pressure. Shane can't extend himself, and try to pressure Floyd into the ropes or follow him around the ring.

Mosley has to stay in the CENTER of the ring. He is just as fast as Mayweather. He has to time any jab or lead rights Mayweather throws. If he counters effectively as he moves forward and Floyd finds himself on the ropes, Mosley needs to go to the body but not in an overcommitted way allowing Mayweather to duck and dodge. As Mayweather gets frustrated, he might try to open up more, that's when Mosley should unload counter power shots to break him down for the latter rounds.

Mayweather has to be light of foot, pot shot, run, use his jab, avoid ring cutoff.

This all calls for one BORING ass fight.

Only in terms of handspeed. And that's not that helpful by itself. Make no mistake..Floyd is faster in every other category (footspeed, reflexes, upper body movement, counterpunching) and so would appear faster in the ring.

Oscar had faster hands than Floyd, even when they fought....but it didn't appear that way...simply because Floyd was faster in every other way and as such often made Oscar look pedestrian.

So it's misleading to say that Shane is just as fast as Mayweather..because in sayin gthat you're implying that he can match Floyd for connect percentage and general "boxing" success. He can't.

    Very relevant.
A couple of weeks ago this guy said the fight wouldn't happen
A couple of days ago this guy said the fight would be postponed.
Now he's saying the fight is going to be boring.
What fight? According to the guy himself, the fight isn't happening.
So, I'm just trying to figure how a fight that won't happen (according to him) will be boring.

Only if he wins by KO within the first 3 rounds in the most spectacular fight of the last 20 years.

    Floyd: be Floyd.

Shane: develop some patience and resist the urge to chase Floyd and force the action. Draw Floyd to lead as much as possible.

Won't happen, comfortable night for Floyd.

I agree. People who come at Floyd in a straight line or predictable pattern get eaten up with ease. You absolutely have to be unpredictable with Floyd, and you have to change your rhythm and pattern of attack.

Mosley is a great fighter. Still, age 38, he is one of the best welterweights in the world. But he IS a bit predictable, and that's why I'm picking Floyd.

Although Mosley is not even nearing the league of Trinidad in regards to ring stupidity, he's not much of a thinker in the ring, and not that adaptable etc.

By by fuck I would like to see Mosley win. I really like Mosley, and pretty much always support him.

This pretty much sums up the fight IMO.

It's Floyd's fight to lose. All he has to do is be himself and he wins.

Shane is the one that has to come up with the gameplan and fight the perfect strategic fight in order to win.

I don't think unpredictability has much to do with it. I just agree with Freddie Roach - Mosley sucks against guys who force him to lead, yet he's always ready & willing to play the role.

He doesn't know how to fight any other way. He's a slugger.

Sluggers are always undone by competant boxers who can take their punches. I thought he lost the 2nd DLH fight too, simply because Oscar decided to box in that one as opposed to the one-dimensional flat footed strategy that he (oscar) used in the first fight.

Hey staff, an even WORSE version of Oscar made your beloved hero Faggoty Floyd look like a pathetic piece of sh*t too. Floyd scraped through by a split decision!!!

Larry Holmes scraped by an older version of Norton via Split decision..the same Norton who was soon to be KOed early by both Cooney and Shavers..and had previously been destroyed (when in his prime) by Foreman.

Holmes went on to stop both Shavers and Cooney and most boxing experts would pick Holmes over Foreman in a mythical matchup.

So...stick to curry, cricket and the "five K's"..and leave the boxing discussion to us Westerners...

No, he's a pure bred counter puncher, that's where his talent lies. But he has the mentality and impatience of a slugger.

In terms of an abject lack of boxing brains, Mex' comparison with Tito is fairly apt.

    Keys for Shane:

-Stick a hard jab in Floyd's face, double and triple it so Floyd can't counter easy. Shane has the reach advantage. Plus, do not paw with the jab.

    -Go to the body

-Shane is the naturally bigger and stronger guy. Make it a rough physical fight, that favours him. The 'cleaner' the fight is, the more it favours Floyd. Clinch when possible and disrupt Floyd's rhythm. Also, do not underestimate Floyd's physical strength. He's a very strong guy himself.

-Be consistent throughout the rounds, throw punches and have as high a workrate as possible. Floyd is difficult to hit, but Mosley is an accurate puncher and if he's throwing more and Floyd is on the defensive it looks like he is making the fight and showing ring generalship.

-Do not get reckless or overaggressive, it will play right into Floyd's hands

-Throw his looping right hand, when Floyd is in the shoulder roll. It has a better chance of finding its target than a straight right would. Its Mosleys' best punch.

    Keys for Floyd:

-Throw the jab early. It will set up the right hand, a punch Shane gets hit with alot.

-Keep the fight in the center of the ring. He can use his great movement to circle Shane and stick the jab in his face

-Try to stay off the ropes. He can get away with it against De La Hoya, but Shane hits harder and he's a more accurate puncher than De La Hoya, plus he goes to the body better.

Thanks for the crappy examples. But your boy is going to die! :crafty:
He was brutally exposed by a shot Oscar and lost to Castillo. Now he's going to get his crappy little streak ended by Sugar Shane and sent back into retirement! :kidcool:

it's not unfeasible that Floyd be so cautious and throw so little that the rounds are close...like against DLH

then if Mosley jabs alot more than DLH did, who knows

I want to see Mosley tear this motherf*cker's heart right out of his chest and take a big sh*t on it!
The end of Floyd is near as is the end of slystaff and all the other bros on here who will leave this board once their beloved hero is brutalized and exposed!!!

If you look at figgitiness, twitching movement, looking to avoid any kind of punishment by not being in range, yeah , Floyd is better at that than Mosley.

When smaller bloated opponents get frustrated by not being able to catch Floyd, they get open to lead right hands, jabs to the body.

If Mosley stays within himself and force Mayweather to come to him on certain occasions, not giving his REACH advantage away with an active JAB, and putting on display Mayweather's intentions of just counterpunching. Mayweather in a zone of inactivity. Then Mosley can win the decision.

Doesn't call for a fight of the year award or connect % records but this fight is what it is.

If Mosley doesn't come forward, there won't even be a f*cking fight. Cocksucker Fraudweather isn't going to step towards Shane. He's going to backfoot his way to a points win and fight cautiously and defensively.
I hope Shane f*cks up his life and buries him!!!

Also Mosley did something in the Margarito fight that I've never seen him do in his career prior. He switched southpaw and threw lead lefts. He did it many times against Margarito, and badly staggered him in the 8th, which ultimately led to the knockdown.

Floyd goes into the shoulder roll, Mosley can do that, he has the handspeed and the mobility to do it on the fly, its unpredictable and fast. Mayweather has no defense for that in the shoulder roll. It will land.

Interesting to see what Nazim has done with Mosley, he'll probably have Shane show some new tricks come fight night we haven't seen before either.

Couldn't help of think of an Enter the Dragon quote here: "Boards, don't hit back"

Margarito is a big slow, no defense having, no counter punch having Mummy. As such Shane treated him like a punching bag and could switch soutpaw at will and throw whatever punches he wanted to at will knowing that Margarito would just stand there and get hit by them.

If Shane tries that soutpaw mischief against Floyd he will compromize his own defense in the process...because it's more difficult to defend yourself when in a stance that's not your natural. Throwing punches from another stance is one thing...but defending against punches is another.

As for Mayweather having no defense in his shoulder roll against straight lefts from a southpaw stance: perhaps you didn't see the Zab Judah fight.....

Just imagine a Jose Luis Castillo but with hand speed and faster lateral movement. That's Mosley.

When in the center of the ring, Castillo stayed contained, countered, jabbed, when on the ropes, he went to town to the body and looping right hands, but he overcommitted many times, allowing clinches and elbows to the throat. Yet he still won.
