    Yes, i have......How can i help you?

This movie and Book of Eli have two things in common, it's a road movie and both characters are heading toward the ocean as their destination.

the road was just grim, not very enjoyable, effective but overrated - plus the ending was a bit rubbish

The book of eli is laughable, ridiculous tosh, denzel not too convincing either

Yeah it was pretty good. I've heard a lot of people making a big deal out of Brad Pitt's performance and i didn't think it was all that special. However the guy playing the SS "Jew Hunter" did a terrific job. I loved the scene when he started speaking Italian and pretending he didn't know that he was on to them.

I've seen The Road and the Book of Eli. For entertainment value a mix of the two would have been perfect. The book of eli started well but got progressively worse, the road was truly depressing but probably a very accurate description of what the world would be like if such a disaster actually happened.

FYI, do not take a female to see The Road."

I've read the road and really enjoyed it. Does anybody here have both read and seen the road? I wonder if I should watch it or avoid it?

Watch it on DVD rental. It's not an uplifting movie and not exactly a happy ending either.

Saw Sherlock Holmes. It was kinda good. Don't think I'd sit through it again though.

Was pleasantly surprised by Sherlock Holmes, nothing like the literary figure but good fun, Downey Jr. makes it

Daybreakers was poor enough, good concept but film meanders along with little suspense, very formulaic with no great payoff in the end

District 13 and District 13:Ultimatum, a French action film, very enjoyable, particularly the first...great stunts, no cgi

Invictus - pretty pedestrian by the numbers account of mandela and the 95 rugby world cup. Its not awful, its just exactly as you would imagine a Holywood account of the episode to be. Plus, the director obviously doesn't get the game of rugby - the last 15 min which is the springbok-kiwi final has little suspense, just a lot of sweaty guys grimacing in successive mauls and rucks.

    You mean Clint Eastwood?

Yeah, he didn't have a great understanding of the sport of boxing either.

Sometimes I wish he would just stick to police procedurals and westerns.

I've had this film for over 3 weeks and have little to no inclination to watch it.

    I'm not sure why. :dunno:

watch it, it's good. it's pretty fast paced and exciting and has a good ending.

    Sherlock Holmes - 6 out of 10

Score looks low but I honestly couldn't justify going any higher. Sure this film has it's moments but I don't feel any compulsion to re watch this. As films go it's good.

Holmes is almost nothing like the character he is based on and Downey comes across as miscast to me. Law plays the one dimensional Watson quite well but once they made Holmes a physical character rather than an almost purely cerebral one, the character of Watson himself seems redundant.

    Possible spoilers ahead:

Ritchie's interpretation of Sherlocks' famous deductive powers is to show everything happening step by step in slow motion with RD Jr giving a voiceover explanation. Once that is done it is shown in realtime. While this is quite effective in the underground boxing scenes, it came off a little hokey to me. More like something you'd see in a cartoon then a movie.

They're already pushing for a sequel by not using Holmes' most famous villain in Moriatry and I'm sure I will watch it when it comes out. I've bashed this film a bit but for all of it's 'flaws', it's worth a watch. Just don't expect too much going in. It would also help if you knew nothing about these characters before watching.

This is Sherlock Holmes in name only. He's more of a mad scientist with an action hero touch to attract the general public. Good for what it is but could have been better done as a real thriller.

    Avatar - 3D

    Just saw this movie
I'm not gonna pull any punches.. this movie was absolutely amazing. I got completely pulled into it, the movie is a complete trip, and feels like it has 6000 deep themes wound together in an incredible, emotional action/fantasy/drama plot. Complete originality, complete movie.

    10/10, easy

Top 5 movie of all time for me, right up there with Godfather 2, Apocalypto, Terminator 2, Fight Club, Scarface, Forrest Gump

    Inglorious Basterds
I wanted to just mention this, as a comparison, it basically sucked. The only good part (and I admit, it was VERY well done, thus a descent score) was the intriguing dialogue during the interrogations. That was delightful actually, the rest of the movie was just schlock. And it was pretty disgusting too, the level of violence, and the joy the characters took in it.

I enjoyed Inglorious Basterds much more than Avatar. Acting, story, dialouge was about 3 classed above Avatar. But Avatar had special effects, so people like it.

I watched Avatar in IMAX 3D. It was entertaining enough but probably will have no replay value unless it's in this type of theater. Average, predictable, cliched storyline. White man goes into the land of the natives and begins to learn about their lifestyle, and meets a girl. From that point on you know what's going to happen.

The visuals were insane though. Definitely better than James Cameron's other biggest blockbuster ever, Titanic (one of the most overrated things ever in the history of entertainment). I guess it works since some of his movies made so much fucking money, but his biggest movies have focused more on great spec

I just watched Cameron's "The Abyss" again the other night. A bit dated now, the very end is complete bullshit and the film quality has degraded over the years.

Still, one of Cameron's most under-rated and enjoyable movies.

Still haven't gotten to see "Avatar". Waiting for the only 3D Imax theatre in the state to clear out a bit.

    Bram Stoker's Dracula - 6 out of 10

Rewatched this for the first time in a few years and have to admit, it was not as good as I remembered. Looks very dated now with bad special effects. Still a good watch for the most part with a good performance turned in by Gary Oldman.

Still a good film, if not great as I thought back when it was new.

This line right here kills everything in your review.

Agree it was so cliched & so predictable yet still entertaining.

As for Titanic it has lots of replay value as long as you skip the early love story and just watch from the beginning of the sinking. Cameron could have shaved lots of time off that movie, but what he did was genius. Putting that love story in there is what made that movie the former number 1 grosser. Had he not had that, it might have done less than half its current numbers.

The problem with that movie is,9 out of 10 actors/characters where all miscast:lol:
