Yeah. As a matter of fact I am. I think I made myself pretty clear. Don't sit there and try to rewrite history. PBF didn't beat anything up that night except the public's wallet.

Pedquio would win..but like his other wins, it wouldn't count

I'd agree with Sly if he claimed it would be the same fight at 135. But anything at 140 and beyond, Marquez is out of his element, which makes all of the difference in the world.

Yes, Floyd would've won regardless, and at any weight. But here's the difference - Floyd looked significantly better/more dominant in this fight than any other at welterweight. Why? Because he wasn't facing a welterweight, he was facing a lightweight carrying around seven extra pounds of fat and piss.

That would be the difference in a Pac-Marquez fight at 147 as well. A still photo reveals how well Pac and how poorly Marquez carries the weight.

I dunno..he looked pretty good against Sharmba Mitchell. :kidcool: But I see your point, homie.

I do think though that Marquez is Pacquiao's Norton. Marquez may be a little slower at the higher weight but he's still durable and he still has that keen boxing brain. Marquez just seems to know how to deal with pacman's fury.

I'd pick Pacman also to be fair...but I don't see it as being the blowout that most would suspect at his point.

Sharmba was a light punching champ at 140...they fought at 147.

    Try again.

    Ok.....Carlos Baldomir.

PBF looked like absolute crap against Baldomir.

I'm not saying it was a GREAT win or anything...I'm only responding to the "Welterweight" comment for a bit of fun.

LOOK AT THE FUCKING CONTEXT IN FUTURE!!! :kick:

  12. Double L

so you admit PBF has not had one impressive victory at 147. right?

  13. Muzse

    Again...another light punching champ.

Beating Baldomir was a good win in that he utterly dominated the consensus undisputed Welterweight champion wihtout breaking a sweat. It was easy.
Beat Judah was also a good win as Judah was no easy touch.
I also count the De La Hoya win..although it was at 154lbs..because it was against a proven bigger fighter (and Floyd weighed 147lb or thereabouts fo rthat fight)
    .
Now of course we can denigrate the opposition of any opponent if we want to ...I can play that game too if i wanted.

Let's even take de La Hoya.

I can argue that his only meaningful win was against Quartey...and then could say..most people thought quartey won anyway..and quartey would soon get dominated by Vargas.

i could say that Chavez was old and past prime..and already lost. Whitaker was undersized and would get dominated by Trinidad. He lost to Trinidad. he lost to Mosley. He beat a shop worn Vargas that was a shell of his former self after getting destroyed by trinidad. he lost to Hopkins. He never fought Wright or Tzsyu or Forrest or Margarito.....

    Blah..blah...

you see how easy this game can be?

pick any fighter that you don't like...see how easy it is to denigrate their wins.

not the point. he was a legit Welter..and he also happened to be the man who beat the man who beat the man who beat the man who beat the man.....

    Muzse "Twinkle Toes" McJack

Despite all of that...Oscar fighting once per year for three or four years...Floyd had problems with a clearly past prime Oscar and won a majority decision.

The more Oscar's shit on, the worse Floyd's win comes across.

the fact that you didn't address it or attempt to refute it tells me clearly that you see my point...which is...

you can denigrate any fighter's resume if you want to...

(you should know by now that I don't easily fall for diversions)

Not a diversion...any post which shits on Oscar is a good post in my book.

On this point i saw a well written KO magazine article in 1987, soon after Leonard beat Hagler, saying that Hagler never fought or beat anyone.

We all say now how great Hagler was and how good his resume was..blah blah..but there was a feeling among QUITE A FEW sports writers and commentators at the time that Marvelous Marvin was overrated all along.

i remember (shows my age) reading that his only good win was Hearns..but still Hearns had already been stopped by Leonard at the Lower weights and was a blown up Welterweight.

They talked about how mugabi was nothing and would soonafter by stopped in three rounds by Dwayne Thomas.

Duran was small, past prime and was destroyed by Hearns.

they had no respect for his other defenses.

If you think I'm lying I'm sure you can research the internet a find a link to the article on Hagler post Hagler Leonard and read it for yourselves.

Everyone can be criticized for who they fought.

That's right, because it was only an unimpressive split decision.

If he had dominated Oscar from start to finish and given him a beating like Manny did, it would be one of Floyd's best wins.

  23. LATIN KING

    LATIN KING Undisputed Champion

Pacquiao would probably KO Marquez at 147. Not only has Manny gotten better but JMM has slipped alot. Not just for his standards but he is way out of his weight class.

JMM should go back to 135 I dont' even want him to fight at 140 for a payday. I dont' think he can win a tittle there.

I would rather he go back to 135 and beat the shit out of Valero, Soto, and whoever else wants to claim that division.

That's the truth,.. everybody is conveniently dampening the alarming matter at hand,.. "Let's just......talk as if he hasn't been exposed,...and we should leave this clean and natural athlete alone"..:shit::shit::shit::shit::shit: for dahhhh beddament of boxing,,,..

It's funny his head broadens every fight,.. how does one explain that?...

"Shhhhhhh...." as ya get olda ya head naturally sags to the sides.. is one attempt I've heard..

  29. Erratic

Marquez might still give him some problems, but ultimately lose, and this time, the fight wouldn't be close.

Pacquiao carries the extra weight better, plus he's peaking, while Marquez is getting up there in age and slowing down a bit (although he's done well to compensate for some of the areas in which he's declined).
