If Hatton was EVER as GOOD as Some of Ya'll Portrayed, there's NOfuckingWAY he'd Go from 1 Extreme to the Other, Based on 7 Lbs...So if Floyd DOESN'T Deserve Credit for Beating Hatton, then what U're REALLY Saying is, Hatton was NEVER That Good to Begin w/....

I aint saying that at all. Ricky was the man at 140 and a very good fighter, I will give credit to Floyd for KOing the Hitman. I'll say it again Floyd is supposed to be an all time great. I EXPECT more.

Mayweather should have been fighting and beating the best at welter and only take a fight like Hatton to shut him up not to prove how great he is.

Sure- I saw him decision a guy he had taken apart at a lower weight. Then I saw him look like a club fighter at a slightly higher weight against a guy who lost to the guy who Pavlik demolished in seven rounds.

Does that mean that Pavlik is shit? No. Is he world class at 160? Of course he is. Is he as effective at a higher weight based on the available evidence? No he obvioulsy isn't.

What is strange is that you act like the implication that Hatton was less effective at 147 is impossible and/or ridiculous, when quite clearly there is evidence all over boxing to show that, sometimes, and often for no obvious reason, a fighter might not be as good when he adds a few pounds.

Saying Hatton is "Less Effective @ 147" is VASTLY DIFFERENT From Saying Hatton "Isn't a Threat @ 147", Mr. Feebles...& Whether U Went w/your Heart or NOT, U DON'T Pick a Guy that ISN'T Even a Threat to Win...

The bottom line is that the Hatton win should be one of the wins filing out Floyd's welterweight resume. A good win to compliment the great wins. The fighters are there and the fights were there to be made. Good and great fighters spread through the division and looking for a shot.

That it isn't, that none of those fights got made and that the Hatton win is instead arguably the crowing glory of his 'reign' at 147, says all that needs to be said, Mister REED.

You deny completely, though, the very possibility that Hatton was less effective (and thus less of a threat) at 147. You have done this since the fight two and odd years ago.

Do you still deny that Hatton was a top-ten type of guy at 147 as opposed to a world class fighter at 140? Do you not agree that Pavlik (to pick just one recent fighter) is a clear example of how this is possible?

Again, "Less of a Threat" & "NOT a Threat" R 2 ENTIRELY DIFFERENT Things, Mr. Feebles...On THIS Very Thread, U've Said Floyd Mayweather HASN'T Faced a "Legitimate Threat" @ 147...Sorry, but REED REFUSES to Accept that a Guy Can B a RECOGNIZED Champ & a Top 5 Lb for Lb'der @ 1 Weight, yet "NOT a Threat" @ All, a Mere 7 Lbs Heavier...

Sure, Pavlik is LESS of a Fighter @ 168, but to Say he's "NOT a Threat" @ All???...REED Can't Say That...

I think you guys are FORGETTING, Mayweather never had to weighin at 140. Sure that would impact the fight with Hatton.

And also forgetting that Pacquaio, remember him? You know the FIGHTER of the year, decade? TORCHED Hatton at his best weight in TWO rounds? Completely doing a lot better than Floyd did at a weight Hatton wasn't as effective?

    blahblahblah....

You talk so much shit Baldwin.

Hut Hut's point was excellent. I can summarize what you've just said as "I'm not going to give Floyd any credit for beating my beloved Ricky".

Hatton and Floyd were the same size that night. Floyd is not a big Welterweight. Hatton's walk around weight is heavier than Floyd's. Hatton's a career Jnr Welterweight..Floyd was a Super featherweight not too long ago.

So just leave it as "it was a good win for Floyd". Because..a person like you, WHo PICKED HATTON TO WIN is not in a position to criticize the victory for Floyd after the fact.

    Behave yourself Baldy...

Did you even read what I posted mate. Floyd weighed 148 at welter. Thats what the standard fighting weight for junior welterweights, and in fact what Floyd usually weighed at that weight at 140 too. Your argument definitely applies to the Collazo fight and I agree with it 100%. But Floyd was exactly the same size as every junior welter Hatton was used to fighting, the fight might as well have been contracted at 140 for the difference it made. It was to all intents and purposes another Junior welter fight for Hatton.

And if Floyd had been a big welter I would have agreed with Feebes argument for all the reasons he gave. But Floyd was the same size at welter as he was at light welter, as was Hatton that night, and both were the same size as the MAJORITY of junior welters too. That the fight was CONTRACTED for the same weight as the Collazo fight is utterly meaningless since it happened 12lb south of that in the ring. It was a junior welterweight fight in the ring for Hatton and should be viewed historically as such.

Of course I read your post mate.

Hatton usually weighed a lot more than 148 when he fought at 140. A lot more. In his book he says that he used to put AT LEAST a stone in weight on between weigh in and fight night :notallthere:. This is where the 'Fatton' thing came from. There is no doubt that this was a massive advantage for a fighter who relied on bulling forward, leaning on his opponent etc etc.

When he fought Mayweather they weighed the same at fight time. Hatton had NO noticeable advantage in weight at all. This, coupled with the fact that he was up against a far, far better fighter than he was, resulted in his defeat.

There is no way that Hatton would have just weighed 148 if the fight had been contracted at 140. That flies in the face of everything he says in his own autobiography. I'm suprised to read that he only weighed 148 for the Mayweather fight, to be honest, and it's news to me.

Hindsight has shown that Hatton was not a threat to Mayweather at 147. Sure, he was perceived as one at the time, but hindsight showed that to be false.

Why on earth would he weigh less at welter than he did at junior welter? From everything I've read he usually came in at about 148-150 at 140, like he did at welter. He certainly weighed 148 aganst Castillo, and exactly the same against Floyd. It was the high weight against Collazo which was the aberration, and he felt it was one of the reasons he was so sluggish. But the bottom line is, even if he decided to weigh less for some reason against Floyd, in terms of weight he was facing a standard junior welterweight opponent.

Floyd and Hatton at 140 has pretty much the same result. Perhaps Floyd KO's him in 11 instead of 9.

Shit, Hatton Most Certainly WAS NOT a Threat to Pac @ 140...Should we Put On the HINDSIGHT Goggles in that Instance too???...

I could've sworn that's what people were saying BEFORE the fight and we're getting screamed on as if they didn't know what they were talking about. Ehh, whatever.

Anyway, getting back to the topic, Pacquiao did accept the testing. At first, anyway.

Loveland I distinctly remember YOU laughing at the notion that Floyd could possibly beat De La Hoya..when that fight was signed. you said something to the effect of:

"Come on..Floyd's not going to beat Oscar" and then you added a "".

Well guess what....Floyd beat Oscar. So you have to give him credit for fighting and beating someone that YOU thought he had no chance of beating. Doesn't sound like the actions of a fighter who ducks the big challenges to me.
