Buddy, I'm disappointed in you. You, like everybody else, have such low standards toward your peers on this board. It seems that you classify us as really a bunch of bums and losers who are completely incapable of achieving anything in our lives which is why we spend the majority of our days on this board as we wither away.
I'm a former powerlifter. I've been lifting since I was 8 years old, hence my growth stunt, making me only 5'3" tall. I'm short and squatty but I'm massively thick.
Ok enough of that. Seriously, how much weight would be believeable to you? How much do you think the average fightbeater should be able to lift, maximum?

I believe you Hanzy.. you are thick as hell

if you are my old friend.. then I KNOW you can cuz we used to lift together.. but you were more like 5'10

I'm more or less making a point that buddy reserves no right to not believe Hanzy anymore than the rest of us are to believe any numbers he says either. Understand?

    I heard you brother TD..

but if we look at Buddy's claims and Hanzy's... Hanzy's are much easier not to believe. .

    although I believe both

Well, neither of us are so outraged and feel inferior enough at his numbers to make the type of post Buddy did either.

While I am not getting lured into an argument with you, I've never claimed anything other than what I am able to do. I've posted honestly about my running, my weight-training, and bodyweight exercises.

You're just a pathetic loser looking for someone to argue with.

It's not my fault you're weak and injury-prone. :dunno:

Hanzy, I'm a big proponent of seeing is believing, but you had a chance to prove yourself and you passed it up. You could have met up with me and sly. That way I would know whether or not you're really 5ft3 and 300lbs, able to bench 600. :dunno:

Don't get me wrong, Hanzy. I like you and always have a laugh with you, but I don't think you're being honest. If you want to show it, I can meet you at a gym in Toronto sometime and we can hit the weights.:bears:

What if I just sent somebody else in my place pretending to be me and he put up the weights I'm bragging about?

There's no outrage or inferiority involved...just disbelief. Why would I be outraged? If Hanzy can really do it, then that's awesome...but like I said, I'm disbelieving. You've followed me from sub-forum to sub-forum, trying to get a bite: Smacktalk, TAAA, and now here.

Like I said, stick to whining about your injuries. If anybody feels inferior, it's the whiner always trying to bite my shit or start up with me. That would be you unfortunately.:dunno:

My bench also sucks. I bench twice a week 3x6 reps and I can only lift my own weight, which is about 190 lbs. My other results are pretty good, but for some reason I get nowhere with bench

There's a lot of variables that come into play. I find that having a good strong back is REALLY important when benching because your back muscles have to help stabilize the weight, and your scapulae (shoulder blades) help thrust the weight back up. I remember a few guys back in the day who had monster bench press ability, but they injured their backs.

That would be something good to get vids of...individual forum members' lifts.

That back thing might be the one for me because I have never really known how to train back correctly. Are pull-ups (done so that the bar comes behind your head) any useful? I can do 3x8 of those

Myself, I was doing widegrip pullups to the front or back. I aggravated tendonitis in my left brachioradialis (forearm muscle), so I switched to a palms-facing-face-grip. I do chinups with a 25lb plate chained to my waist, and it allows me to do 6 reps.

I weigh just over 200lbs, so it takes a bit of work. My back has never been thicker, and I'm really able to stabilize the weight when I bench.

I don't know what my max bench is right now because I'm building strength. I have benched 280 for 2 in the past and 300 for 1. By this summer, I expect to do better than that.

Pullups behind the neck are good, but maybe you should add weight when you do them. It's much harder. Rows are one of the very best exercises for strengthening back if you do them correctly.

I think you'd be better doing regular chin ups. Behind the neck pull ups, especially wide grip have a reputation for aggravating some peoples shoulders and more fundamentally they're just a less natural movement, so you wont be able to lift as much weight or strengthen your back as much with them.

As an unrelated benefit, chin ups'll also make your biceps grow because of the supinated grip, which is a happy side effect.

So regular chin ups also help to exercise back? I must try them, I think I could do it with bit extra weight do. I have done them with wide grip.

I hate all those rowing things because I don't think I will ever be able to do them correctly. I do some back exercises with machines though

Yeah chin ups work the back....they're the main assistance lift powerlifters use to strengthen their back for benching.

Re: rowing - the easiest way is dumbell rowing with one arm. Just stick you knee and non-lifting arm on a bench and row the dumbell with the other. Pretty much idiot proof! They mainly have a reputation as more of a deadlift assistance exercise because allot of powerlifters use them for high reps to improve their grip strength. But theres no reason they couldn't achieve the same goal as chin ups if done for 5-10 reps, they work all the same muscles.
