The reason Haiti is (and has been, for many a decade now) the shittiest country in the Western hemisphere, is because Haitians run the country.
Had the French (for example) been in charge, the country (and its population) would enjoy much better level of life they do now.

But hey, if you prefer Haitians to be in charge and living in shit and poverty, that's your opnion, and every horse is entitled to one.
As for me, I would prefer that French were in charge (as they're in Guiana) ( and Haitians would actually enjoy a nice, decent life as well)

 

DaBully has several other welterweights in his stable as well (Carlos Quintana, Kermit Cintron, Antwone Smith). Luis Collazo is also out there, a logical choice considering their first fight as well as the fact that they're planning to stage the fight in NYC. Any of those fights are doable.

I've always been a Paulie fan, but this is a bullshit fight. HBO and Lou will milk the Haiti angle for all its worth and beyond, selling this fight as some emotional roller coaster, to atone for the fact that Berto gets yet another free ride.

well it looks like Malignaggi is fighting Amir Khan so I hope Berto rematches Collazo. That first fight was razor thin.

 

I agree, I can't totally blame him for pulling out because of the quake, but, they were strong rumors that he was offered $$$ to pull out of the fight ( as they wanted to make Mosley-Pbf ). Wouldn't surprise me at all, as he was adament just after the earthquake that the fight with Mosley wasn't off.

Berto reminds me of David Reid. Very fast, very talented, but probably not going to fare too well at the very top. However, Reid showed that he could get out ahead of Tito, and Berto can probably get out ahead of anyone, too. I just expect him to come back to earth (or the canvas) before the fight is over.

 

Seems as if Berto is fighting Quintana next. Thats a good test for him I admit. If Quintana can regain the form he had when he upset Williams, and Julio... then he can defintely upset Berto.

Reid getting out ahead of Tito is a myth. Maybe it happened on the cards but by my recollection it never happened in the ring.

 

Reid was winning that fight early. If the fight went to cards after 6 rounds Reid would have won. Tito, of course, chopped him down after that...

 

Not the way I remember it. I do remember everyone and there moma reciting that same story, I just remember that wasn't the way I saw it. From what I remember Tito was outboxing Reid early and really started outboxing him later. Of course Reid may have won a rd here or there along with him dropping Tito. I've been meaning to rewatch this fight for years and make a thread about it disputing that myth but I never got around to it.

From my recollection, Reid won about 4 of the first 6 rounds.

Reid's eye was closed before the fight even started. It will be forever to Plastertito's credit that he ascended to a shot at the middlweight title by beating guys like Vargas and Reid.:shit::shit::shit:

 

At that time Vargas and Reid were expected to be the future and many thought one or both would unseat Tito's position as a long reigning champion. Unfortunately for them Tito was too much for Reid, a guy living off his athletic talents and Vargas, who although pretty skilled and full of heart and courage wasn't quite ready for a guy of Tito's caliber and in all likely hood never would have been.

Besides Vargas was the one who called out Tito in spanish and Tito was never one to duck away from challenges.

 

Man I love and miss Tito. Dude was truly an all-time great who brought a warrior like mentality everytime he entered the ring. I'll Holla 5000
