Free weights (Barbell) I can only bench 2 plates and a dime (245lbs)..but on the machine I can bench 300lbs.

I usually work on the machine because i don't often have a "spotter" and tend to increase to weight to about 250lbs and perform about 15 reps.

Bicep curls: 15 reps of 45lbs dumbells
Hammers: 15 reps of 40lbs dumbells

Flys: using the pec deck I can do 15 reps of 260lbs

How does this compare with some of your gentlemen?

Currently I incline and flat bench 230 for 10 reps. I'm inclining and flat benching 90lbers for 6, but I just came back from a bicep tendon injury in my right arm, so I can't go full out just yet.

Curling 120lbs for 8 on an E-Z Curl bar.

Squatting 265 for 10 very deep (tops of thighs parallel with the ground), but I just started squatting a few workouts ago after a layoff because my lower back was bothering me.

Dumbbell tricep extensions behind the neck: 90lbs. I do this with two arms, not one, but I sit straight up on a bench when I do it.

Chinups. 30lbs on my waist for 6-8 reps. I do this 3-4 times per week. I had to stop doing widegrip because my left forearm muscle (brachioradialis) was giving me problems.

Powerpressing (over my head): 205 for 6 reps.

    Handstand pushups. Sets of 12.

I have to be careful because I've been getting injuries in both arms lately. I wear a jogging jacket to keep my muscles warm while I work out.

All free weights. I'm not a big fan of machines.

I'm getting old. Not quite 38 yet, but I'm starting to have regular injuries. The reason I do the chins with weights is because I used to do a lot of ropeclimbing, and I want to show off for my son this summer. [IMG]

You're definitely much stronger than me.

I don't tend to do squats as I have bad knees and ntot sure whether that could affect my knees.

I also do "shrugs" with 65lb dumbells, 30 reps, 3 sets

I've only just started doing decline bench. I incline about 200lbs at the moment.

I jerked 275 over my head last year, and I jerked 245 over my head for 6 but I couldn't lock out the last rep. I think I'll do some vids soon, but I don't want them getting out. Maybe I'll put them on my facebook.

Never tried jerking (yeah haha), can you lift allot more that way than push pressing?

Either way, putting 275 over head is damn strong, your shoulders must be like bowling balls.:bears:

The anterior and lateral deltoids are well-developed, but my posteriors only started really developing after I began doing lots of chinups.

Jerking weight over your head is easier than pushpressing in my opinion, but you need to be really explosive with the movement.

I used to just do pushups for years as well..Until i discovered the effects that bench press does.

My physique has changed dramatically since using weights. I'll share a pic soon I guess...

The Bench is nice.. I loved benching, but now I just do pushups and last I checked, my bench was still pretty strong

Yeah, but you were a sprinter, I believe. I would love to be able to run fast but it's never been in the cards. I can run for a long time, but fast...NOPE!

BTW, I did chest today. 225 for 10 on the incline and the flat bench. The gym where I went, GoodLife Fitness, doesn't have 2.5lb plates. Can you believe that? I felt a bit of pain in my right bicep tendon when I was doing incline presses, so I took it easy today...until I got to doing dumbbell bench press and dumbbell incline presses.

GoodLife only has dumbbells going up to 100lbs. I grabbed a couple and did 6 reps on incline and flat bench dumbbell bench presses.

That was new for me. And I did all this without a spotter. Getting the weight into position from the floor was the hardest part...that and doing the initial grind to get the dumbbells up to the top on the first rep. I actually felt really lightheaded from the effort at first.

And I think that is a first for me: using 100lbers for inclines and flat bench dumbbell bench presses. And that was after barbell stuff. [IMG]

Very impressive. I doubt bench 100lbs dumbells on flat let alone incline. If I did I'd need a spotter for sure.

Goodlife fitness is a good gym (no pun intended), I attend there also (well the one where I live is good).

Like I said though I tend to use the machines which allow you to add the plates...I do this because I rarely have a spotter. On the machines you can obviously bench far more weight than you could with a ba..and certainly far more than you could with dumbells.

Yeah, I used to use a Smith machine years ago, but it felt like cheating. My stabilizer muscles got no workout, and when I went back to normal barbells and dumbbells, I'd actually be able to do less weight than previously. I'm gonna work up to hopefully a 350lb bench press or incline press this summer.

350lb bench! That's like three plates and a dime or so right. You're a monster.

I can't go that high with free weights. I'd look too bulky.

On the pec-deck I can do 270lb flys, 15 reps.

It would be 3 plates, a dime, a fiver, and a 2.5 on either side. We'll see what I get up to. The long-range goal is always just to get stronger.

I think I'm gonna back off on the heavy stuff and do some maintenance work. I was benching 250 for 3 today and it felt like I had nothing left. I don't usually feel that way, so I'm gonna cycle my poundages back and concentrate on different areas.

Overall strength is the goal here...not trying too hard and injuring something.

Me too. Now I am 6'2 and 190 lbs with bigger torso than legs. I have long arms and legs so I still give a kind of lanky impression even though I am approaching 25 in BMI. I'd still like to gain about 10 lbs of weight remaining as trimmed as I am now.
