The real inexcusable fight was Floyd fighting Zab for the IBF belt after he had just lost. And Floyd's O should have been erased in that fight by dq.

Manny has never fought anybody coming off a loss. It's not like Oscar Larrios came up 2 weight classes after a loss to fight Manny or nothing.

    I hear that!

I remember one year when Manny won fighter of the year all his oponents that year came off losses when he faced them. It was ridiculous!

I don't know if he wrote an article about him but I remeber him classifying as a bum before he faced Gatti, tbh, I think he said the Gatti fight changes his mind and that he was a legit opponent for PBF ( wich was obviously wrong, Baldomir was nothing but a journeyman and may have very well been a pre-emptive strike to justify him facing Floyd )

And nobody would care if Margarito was the only name PBF ducked. But at the time he was a welterweight ( before his retirement ), Paul Williams, Miguel Cotto, Margarito and Shane Mosley were there and were pretty much considered the top dogs. Yet Floyd fought none of them, he fought an absolute bum in Baldomir, an born loser in Zab and Hatton who looked mediocre and barely won vs the very average Collazo in his only ww fight.

Oh yeah, he fought Sharmba Mitchell too, that's what is amazing about Floyd, had he fought Judah, Mitchell and Hatton when he was a JrWW, that would have been a very good run. Instead he fought garbage there too ( and yes Gatti was garbage, Corley was decent but way out of his leauge as proven in his loss vs Judah )

Some of PBF's choice of opponents were financially motivated.

Yup...he's the only fighter in history who has shown financial motivation in selecting opponents...

Yep, same three dudes defending Floyd's every move. So predictable.

That's up for debate, but I agree he is a great fighter. I have never said anything negative about Floyds skills. Unless you want to count me saying he has been boring in some fights.

Technically speaking Floyd could have been DQ'd this is true. But sometimes the spirit of the law must prevail over the letter of the law. And it did in this case...THANK GOD!

Zab Judah was always a good fight for Floyd to prove that he had what it took to be successful at that weight. Zab had KOed Cory Spinks (who Jermain Taylor, at Middleweight, couldn't even hurt)..and Spinks had beaten Mayorga, who beat Forrest, who beat Mosley, who beat De la Hoya.

huh? what i meant more specifically was that for a time, PBF would only agree to fight, it seemed, guys like Bruselles and Corley, who would take the fight for peanuts.

and i wasn't being critical of his doing this, although it does and should compromise his standings, both at 140 and at 147.
