For example..say you are 6'3", 200lbs..and have some boxing experience....do you think you could have beaten Ricardo Lopez for example?

In a street fight, probably. In a boxing match, probably not.

I'd be 50/50 with a present day Ali.

I wouldn't be able to catch the bastard and I'd get gassed after two rounds and promptly quit on my stool against Lopez.

I think that would happen to the majority of people. Boxing isn't a street fight. Having a big size advantage wouldn't be that much of an edge unless you know how to use it in a boxing ring.

    agreed with the consensus.

It's just that I remember a couple posters here...can't recall who they are now..who said that they could have beaten ricardo Lopez or some former featherweight champions, in the prize ring, based upon their (the posters') size and boxing experience.

I was hoping that they'd show up to make this topic interesting..

    in boxing no way.

i have sparred with several pros in the 147-175 range though while weighing 130. i suppose i would have a punching chance against a weak chinned 106 LBSer.

some of those guys (like brian viloria) are verrrrrry small.

I think I would have chance against some 105 lbs women's champion. Nice to hear you guys confess that you wouldn't:stir:

Wasn't including Women's champions. That's a totally different matter entirely.

With a little training I'd have beat the fuck out of the "coal miners daughter" for example. KO 1

But with male champions...their skills are so much more advanced than ours...that size difference wouldn't matter.

bullshit. It is difficult to accept for a male ego but female world champions would kick your ass big time just like in any other sport.

Nah....not convinced. In boxing...the strength and durability disparity is too great. Great enough to overcome the skills disparity. Besides most of these women aren't very skillful "anyhow".

Christy Martin was a tiny tot..decent skills..but I'd just have to hit her once and fight over!

It sounds delusional, but if I had the size of a heavyweight and had some serious training, I think I could beat some of the current crop of heavys out there.

But thats more indicative of how bad the heavys are in this era.

There have been some pretty shitty world champions.
A 200 lb person who can fight a little is going to be able to beat some smaller world champions from the past.

U have to Consider the QUALITY (Or LACK Thereof) of the Poster that would even ATTEMPT to Go There...

Lucia Ryjker got knocked out cold in the first round against some unknown Thai journeyman the only time she crossed the gender divide. She was like 100-0 in boxing & Muay Thai combined.

When I was training boxing they used to sometimes mix the sparring up with the competitive female fighters. From my experience, women are pretty much as weak as the biggest pig chauvinist could dream.

SOME, but Not All...For Example, REED Doesn't Think he Could Whip Ann Wolfe's Ass, but REED Agrees w/Sly on the Matter of Christy Martin....w/a Couple Months PREP Time, Christy Martin would Get WAXED by the Average Male, in a Boxing Match....

With headgear and amateur rules, I wouldn't rule out a competitive match with present day Naseem Hamed.

doesn't make it any better but Esk's main stipulation was that he would beat Tito in a 3 round fight
