great fight, I like both and it's gonna be a bitch to see one of them lose, but it was time that Overeem stepped up the competition in MMA
I was gonna post this, but I don't think for a minute this fight is gonna happen. Overeem will probably suffer another mystery injury that forces him to cancel the fight, then he'll fight some 10-27 bum two weeks later on a card in Europe or Japan. Overeem is a joke. If that fight does come off, I hope Rogers decapitates him. TFK
I don't believe it either, he already has a fight booked on April 24th. How is he going to fight Brett Rogers two weeks after fighting?
exactly, one of the fights won't happen and my money is the Strikeforce fight. Also, you are wrong about Rogers being overrated. He may be a bit on this forum but 75% of MMA fans don't even know who he is, or at them most know him as the guy Fedor put to sleep on CBS. Rogers is the same size as Brock Lesnar but with the exact opposite style. Rogers is a stand up banger, Brock is a ground and pounder. Rogers is a rough matchup for anyone in the world at HW right now.
His power is also overrated and his technique is average. He was also shown to be susceptible to KOs. He's no can, but not a top 10 HW. He's really only beaten Andrei Arlovski, who clearly is passed it. The rest of the guys were total cans. And he didn't really put the bunch of them away except the chinny ones like James Thompson.
Because he was KO'd by Fedor, that make him susceptible to being knocked out? That's a bit of a stretch. TFK
No, it just showed that you don't necessarily need to be a stand up whiz to KO him, and that his chin is moderate at best. Please, let's not act like Fedor has a long history of KOing guys with punches. Besides the glass jawed wonder AA, Fedor hasn't really KO'd a lot of guys.
what's rogers' background? was he a high school/college wrestler? or did he just start out doing MMA like the new breed of today's fighters are doing?
Rogers will likely be further exposed as he continues fighting non-shot, mid level heavyweights. Rogers list of cans prior to AA was Overeem caliber.
From what I know, he grew up a street fighter in the projects of Chicago. He started his actual MMA training in Minnesota. His back ground is mostly standup, but he is with a really good team. His coach's name escapes me but he used to be part of Chute Box.
so basically, he's a younger and much better version of kimbo and was lucky enough to start training at a young enough age.
Getting KO'd by the undisputed best fighter to ever compete in MMA hardly means you have a 'moderate' chin. Fedor may not have a lot of KO's, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have power in his strikes. TFK
Don't even respond to this immature troll, he just pollutes this forum. The retard isn't even informed enough to know that even though most of Fedors stoppages were submission stoppages, lots of the submission stoppages were a result of strikes.
The shot that Fedor KO'd Rogers with would KO 99% of the HW's on the fucking planet. That was a sick KO, he put everything he had on that shot.
