It's a struggle when you are on the mat and there small stars are in orbit with your head. I dont care how well he looked for 3.99 rounds, 2.5 men, 2.4 children or anything else......he was in dire straits during the fight against a guy who was not a banger like Marciano.

 

Clay was in trouble for a total of ten seconds of fight time and in complete control for thirteen minutes and thirty seconds. Even taking the between round period where he was hurt, he was struggling for a maximum of two minutes and making a fool of Cooper for the remaining, what, eighteen minutes. That's some struggle...

Besides, you are making it sound like Cooper was an out and out bum with no punch. The guy was a multiple European and Commonwealth champion (at a time when there was still something of a Commonwealth worth speaking of) who built his entire career almost solely on his ability to KO guys with one left hook.

Cooper cut terribly, had an average chin, average skills and average everything, save for having a murderous left hook. He was, in fact, the very definition of a banger.

Pick single fight from a fighter's career, better yet pick a single moment of a single fight from a fighter's career, and you get any result you want from a MM. Surely, if Henry cooper dropped Ali, Sonny Liston would do it too. if James Tillis won four rounds out of ten against Tyson, then surely Michael Spinks would win a decision.

Ali would beat Marciano, in all likelihood, very very easily

 

I said Ali would beat Marciano, but it would not be easy. Ali rarely had an easy night against tough pressure fighters. It might end quickly, on cuts, but Ali will not fight for a while after it. The simple fact is that once Rocky hit you, you stayed hit.
