RD 1

Both cautious, jabbing. Gomez a little more aggressive but nothing landed. Both slipping jabs. Low by Gomez. Gomez opens up a bit to steal the round.

10-9 Gomez

 

RD 2

Gomez again more aggressive, trading jabs and the odd flurry. Castillo not doing much, maybe he's saving something? Gomez with the higher workrate. Couple of left rips by Gomez, Castillo with his own. Jab jab jab, more jabs. Giving it to Gomez again.

20-18 Gomez

 

RD 3

Gomez looking a tad sharper overall, but we'll see. Nice right by Gomez. Castillo a bit slow to pull the trigger. Stalking, jabbing. Nice RH by Gomez. Castillo sluggish. Gomez landing a few combinations now, but not hurting Castillo really. JLC can't get off and isn't pressing.

RD 4

Mirror image of previous rounds. JLC looks shot, trying to press but as effective as a sea-cucumber. Gomez picking him off.

40-36 Gomez

 

RD 5

Gomez pressing more now, giving JLC opportunities, which he is not taking. His reflexes are too slow. Gomez goes back to Plan A - sit back, jab, pick him off with single shots. OMG JLC LANDED A JAB!!!!!! Gomez still landing, JLC really needs to get aggressive.

50-45 Gomez.....sweeping it.

 

My other scorecard is also 4-0 Castillo - I sense another SD.

OOPS - JLC corner said NO MAS - poor guy, he's upset.

 

Sad to see a faded warrior get pimped by a nobody like Gomez.

 

Soto vs Diaz next.

RD 1

Close fight, exchanging counters, jabs. Diaz slightly more aggressive. Head clash - Soto not thrilled. NICE by Soto, clipped Diaz and got a KD as he wobbled back and glove touched the ground. Diaz recovers well but lost it.

10-8 Soto.

 

RD 2

Diaz looking to be aggressive but gets caught coming in. Soto just looks a little sharper in there. Soto landing the rh and left uppercut nicely. Diaz still aggressive but Soto with nice counters.

20-17 Soto.

 

RD 3

Diaz still coming forward and getting countered. Soto getting aggressive now and landing, Diaz trying to counter, and actually does! Close round but giving it to Soto.

30-26 Soto.

 

RD 4

Soto leading more now, confident in his handspeed. Now letting Diaz come in and countering. Soto looks sharp with the nice striaght right. Diaz too slow to capitalize, and Soto has good D. Diaz lands a couple, nice. Diaz with a jab. Nice hard combo by Soto to seal the deal!

40-35 Soto.

 

Missed that round, had a phone call. Assume Soto took that too, 50-34 Soto.

 

RD 6

Diaz still coming forward, throwing and lands a couple and a jab. Soto hitting gloves this round. They go to war to end the round - Soto may have stolen it but I'll give a sympathy round to Diaz for being more aggressive and doing OK.

59-54 Soto.

 

RD 7

Back to the plan - Diaz aggressive and getting clipped on the way in. Soto doing well with crisp counters and lead shots. Diaz still coming but ineffective. Soto lands when he leads too. Diaz lands a decent left, and another, but not enough to take the round.

69-63 Soto

 

RD 8

Rinse, repeat. Same stuff here, Diaz comng forward and Soto countering crisply. Nice left by Diaz. Jabs by Soto. Closer round bu to Soto.

79-72 Soto.
