Nearly 8 years now since he last fought and he's gone into relative obscurity (other than the car crash/prison sentence obviously) since then. No doubt the guy knew how to put on a show and was in some good fights. Looking back, were you a fan?

I was one of his biggest detractors. If you look at the way he sidestepped Juam manuel Marquez repeatedly and STILL was able to keep his WBO belt, you'd know it was one of the biggest disgraces in boxing. JMM was not a big name yet and was his mandatory for fucking ages. The Hameds wrote letters and constantly petitioned the WBO to let him skip his mandatory and fight someone else and all the while when the TV cameras were turned on he'd say he wanted to fight anyone anywhere.

Nope I wasn't a big fan of his either. I was happy as hell when MAB smashed his ass and slammed him face first into the turnbuckle. However, he was a front runner. Why wouldn't anyone want to get back into the ring and try and get some redemption. I'll Holla 5000

Hated him and still do but he was one of the hardest hitting featherweights ever, right up there with Danny Lopez and Alexis Arguello and Sandy Saddler... scary power but his skills were not good and his comp was at times terrible

My opinion of him is that he was a great talent who never developed into a great fighter. If he had been taught to box conventionally from the start he could have been great.

Hamed was an arrogant, big headed, big talking, self confident, skillful and down right master in knowing how to sell a fight! :cheer::cheer:
He is a british legend and many boxing fans favourite, who had the whole package and you loved to see him in the ring!

I think Hamed would have strong competition in that department from Manny Pacquiao, Sandy Saddler, Rueben Olivares and Alexis Arguello, all of whom fought and stopped better opponents than Hamed did.

Hamed went the distance with McCullough..which is no shame. The fact that he also went 12 with Cesar Soto, Vincenzo Belcastro and Manuel Calvo does not speak volumes of his power, or at least his ability to land power shots. In fact, the Soto fight was pure farce, and in terms of fouling Hamed at least did a passable impression of Saddler.

He needed 11 rounds to stop Paul Ingle and Manuel Medina, both of whom he hit at will, and was arguably close to being stopped himself vs Ingle, a one-time Flyweight who had maybe 2 notable names on his resume at the time of his unfortunate demise.

Throw in his spiteful attitude, his total lack of respect for his trainer and for convention, and the downright vulgar build up he engaged in prior to MAB, and his subsequent imprisonment {with the associated lack of remorse}....and it's safe to say we are no worse off with out him.

That's a good KO ratio. Hamed hit hard, and with two hands. He was a genuine puncher.

Vitali Klitschko also has a high KO ratio. Does he hit harder than Shavers, Foreman, Tyson and Lewis?

Hamed knocked people out with single shots unlike Vitali, and that is not usual for a featherweight

Okay. So not only does Hamed hit harder than Sandy Saddler, he now hits harder than Vitali Klitschko.

    Damn. I need to rest.

He knocked out people like Said Lawal, Bungu, Kevin Kelley {who had been softened up by previous knockdowns and was NOT "out"...} with "one shot"....
.....had he faced slightly fresher versions Kelley and Vasquez then who knows.......Vasquez always had problems with shifty types so I will let that one go.

Look at the guys he never fought......Junior Jones, Kennedy McKinney, Erik Morales, Juan Manuel Marquez, Freddie Norwood, Floyd Mayweather {Mayweather was at 130 at the time}.....Hamed said he would do this that and the other to those fighters, yet the only one of that gang he eventually faced was MAB. And he lost.

Irish is bringing the other important part to this equation... the part that the Prince lovers always seem to overlook.

No...No....No...I ain't even brought up Race and Religion yet.:nono:

Oh, you mean, the guys he didn't fight...well that's easy.

Norwood beat Marquez and then Norwood lost to Gainer. Gainer lost to Kelley, like years ago, by 1 punch KO and then Hamed beat Kelley, so that takes care of them. Junior Jones lost to McKinney and McKinney lost to Barrera who lost to Marquez who lost to the aforementioned Norwood who lost to Gainer..so that takes care of them. Now, McKinney lost to that Filipino guy Espinosa and Espinosa lost to Soto and Soto already done lost to Hamed up in the COBO in Detroit. So what's your fucking problem dude? As for Mayweather well Mayweather was at 130 and he wouldn't come down to 117 for the Prince so that's that. Did I leave anyone out?

No. So that's 74 KO wins by proxy for the Prince, and he was robbed in Vegas because he didn't get the green lambskin gloves he wanted. Green is the colour of Islam and lambs is what they slit the throat of. Then he wasn't allowed to jump over the ropes and that asshole Buffer fucked up the "There is only ONE God and Mohammed is his Prophet" bit....so it was easy to see that it was all set up for Hamed to lose.

Just because I can't be bothered to do these fights in MM, I think he beats Jones and McKinney in his prime, has a punchers chance against Morales (but would be the underdog), Norwood could beat him by stink, would be a massive underdog against Marquez but still has that punchers chance, while Floyd beats him by 187.

:bears: I couldn't stand that little arrogant cunt. MAB made me incredibly happy the day he humilliated him in front of his adoring fans. I regret when he unofficially retired since then. I wanted to watch him getting his ass KO by Manny Pacquiao.

Possibly one of the top 5 most overrated boxers of alltime. Was somehow placed on most people's P4P list on "assumed greatness" and was even often compared to Muhammed Ali. Personally I never saw the great hand speed he was often credited with having, and his ability to slip punches seemed to be directly linked to the quality of his opponents.

If you want to know how great he was then ask yourself this: What opponent did he ever dominate? What great fighter did he face, much less defeat? Dude was a farce of epic proportions and if ever a company created a phony great fighter that fooled the public, then HBO did with Hamed.

    No I wasn't a fan.

    He was exciting but fuck'im!

I really went off him the moment before the barrera fight when he grabbed the Mic and started preaching some Islamic stuff.

Was very happy when Barrera beat him and Lampley said "The 12 rounds you've just seen suggest that Allah knows how to spell Barrera....B-A-R-R-E-R-A"
