It's not Nationality. If it were Nationality, this'd be one fight of Wlad's that were televised since Chambers is American. Not to mention the number of Wlad fights that have already been broadcast. The reality is, there's a pie of money that gets allocated, based on ROI estimates. And Wlad's boring as hell. But expensive as hell. So instead, we'll get to see fighters like Arreola, Maidana, Berto, Caballero, Pavlik, Bute, Williams, Khan, Cotto and Dawson. Does that list of fighters look like it was chosen based on Nationality?
That is true also. Wlad and his team are hugely popular in Europe and make shitloads of cash themselves so they don't need to sell the fight cheap to anybody. US TV has counted that with this amount of money and this nationality it ain't worth it
agree as to why Wlad costs so much - because he's famous in Europe. but if you're trying to suggest that the decision is based on anything other than return on investment, i think you're incorrect. if Wlad were from Mars, and it made sense financially, you can bet that his fight would be on TV. now, as to why it's not a profitable proposition - it may have to do with Wlad's Nationality (i.e the paying public, not HBO). but given the attention foreign fighters have gotten in the U.S. (including Wlad at one time), i don't see how it's a sound conclusion.
