List the fighters with unending stamina (not including the fools who fought before the 15 round fight limit...because they fought conservatively to preserve stamina and so can't compare). Your top 10 list.

    1. Manny Pacquiao
    2. Henry Armstrong
    3. Roberto Duran
    4. Julio Cesar Chavez
    5. Aaron Pryor
    6. Joe Frazier
    7. Rocky Marciano
    8. Floyd Mayweather Jnr
    9. Bernard Hopkins (Prime..naturally)
    10.Joe Calzaghe

Floyd's too conservative. He isn't an all-time punch output kind of guy. Take out Floyd, move everyone up a notch, and pop in someone like Glen Johnson or Ike Ibeabuchi.

Vitali seems to have underrated gas tanks.

Wayne McCullough was another guy who could keep taking heavy shots and maintain a ferocious workrate over the distance.

Matthew Saad Muhammad should be in there too.

Though in a way I agree, when has Floyd ever looked tired or even near it in a fight? yeah I know he only throws about 40 punches a round but he is always moving, on his feet rolling or slippin punches and that guy is breathing as if he is taking a nap, Im pretty sure he is has all time great stamina, he is a gym rat.
I hate the guy but I give him his props. He has all the talent in the world...just no balls.

    Disagree. Refer to boxfan's post.

I've NEVER seen Floyd gassed in a fight. never. And it takes a lot out of you to move so much with your feet and upper body while still landing crisp counters and occasional combinations. Look at the gatti and Corrales fights for example. Serious stamina..not looking to slow down for even a second...

If Floyd threw more, we'd find out. You can't base a list like this on "What ifs". He paces himself better than anyone I can think of, but he doesn't display tireless stamina as much as we saw when Ike and Tua combined for a punchstat record.

Floyd probably has average stamina like his bum father and his bum uncle. But he is so relaxed as to never burn an ounce of gas that doesn't need burning.

For me, stamina involves shipping punishment and throwing shots frequently over the course of a distance fight without showing any serious signs of flagging.

Floyd threw a hell of alot of punches on gatti in those six rounds...he also did the same thing in the Ndou fight.

Plus you underrated how much stamina it takes to move constantly: feet and upper body.

He didn't take a single noteworthy shot in return.

McClellan threw a tonne of leather against Benn in the first round of their fight.

The one punch Benn landed was the one that winded him, and kept him that way for the next few rounds.

Good list. The top 6 look just about right from what I can think of off the top of my head, anyway. I'd have Pryor above Chavez personally.

James Toney was SO relaxed in there he could go all night. Maybe, the most natural fighter of the last 20 years. Certainly my favourite guy to watch from that time period....born to box.

Agreed. Stamina in boxing seems to have a lot more to do with muscle relaxation than other sports that one might typically think of such as cycling or long distance running.

James Toney seemingly can fight forever but he probably couldn't run around 1 city block without getting winded.

Conversely a guy like Oscar De La Hoya (and many other fighters) can probably do all the usual road work demanded but their stamina in the boxing ring often seemed to be lacking.

Word, Toney can phone in rounds, he knows (or knew) how to do enough to keep a guy off and fire off a few with minimal effort

Felix Trinidad actually ran marathons when not in fight training. He might be a good addition to the list as in his prime he never stopped coming forward and throwing. He didn't start breathing hard until the 9th round.

He was breathing hard early on vs Vargas.

I know because Vargas went down twice early.

Yeah, exactly. I mean at the extreme end of the spectrum you see how out of breath people get with panic attacks....people pass out with exhaustion within 30 seconds of a sharp panic attack, I have to deal with it at work occasionally and it's scary to watch. The bodies mechanisms for stress constrict breathing and put the heart rate way up.

Like I said, I could watch Toney all day, that guy's just an incredible natural born fighter. Even when he loses he's never really beaten if that makes the slightest bit of sense, he gets to the 12th as relaxed & poised as the first bell. IMO in large part it's down to the volume of sparring guys like that do, to the point where the ring really is their office and punches coming at them are as mundane paperwork landing on the desk.

Uh huh. Was Toney beat up or hurt at the end of that in any way? Or had Jones just evaded him for 12 rounds while landing enough shots to win the boxing match? No real fight had even taken place, never mind a beating.

I was gonna say Wayne McCullough also.

Even though not a Top 10 guy,Emmanuel Burton (Augusts) had amazing stamina.

He had great skills and could ride out trouble like it was nothing.

Hatton had pfp stamina at his peak.

Zach Padilla should be #1 or at least #1 without suspicion of being a PED using piece of shit.

    1. Maybe, but juicer.
    2. fine
    3. No. Remember...all of his losses are due to being out of shape.
    4. no. Chavez gave away early rounds. The best stamina doesn't have to.
    5. yes
    6. too many ko's to know
    7. maybe
    8. come on
    9. come the fuck on. just because you pace doesn't mean you have great stamina.
    10. should be higher

    Z Padilla (#1), R Oliveira yes
Whitaker had more than many listed, too.
