It was a shitty start regardless of why.

    1. Where else is his ass gonna be when Kongo is chasing him and bulling him backwards? Obviously against the cage. That was necessity, not Buentello's strategy.

    2. He got one underhook and the other arm was basically given up. He looked like he was just trying to power out of the takedown and didn't try to get low...unless you count when he got thrown on his ass.

I thought the Sakara fight was just getting interesting.

    LOL at Vera.

    Brutal elbow. Vera is garbage.

I want to see Jones face the winner of the Griffin\Little Nog fight.

It looked like Vera got a nice Bugs Bunny lump on the cheekbone after that. Or maybe it was pushed in?

That was my first night of cage fighting in a while. Life on the discovery channel was significantly better television.

garbage card, alll interesting matchup on paper but all turned out to be shit ( with maybe the exception of JDS - Gonzaga wich at least had a good ending but was pretty dull ).

I loved the Jones/Vera fight as well as the JDS/Gonzaga fight. Jones has some of the best elbows from the guard I have ever seen. That elbow he caught Vera with was just sick. I really want to see JDS/Vasquez. I thought it was a decent card for being on basic cable.

Agreed. I was hoping it would be good.

I don't think it was a garbage card. Irvin got caught in the eye with what he thought was a finger. Buentello looked like crap, but Kongo was just coming back from a loss. The Howard KO was brutal, and Jones handled business against a guy who can make good fighters look boring. And Dos Santos MASHED Gonzaga with a brutal left hook.

    Mixed bag, sure. Garbage, no.

Vera quit once he took a decent shot, that's not entertaining to me

Yeah, he tried to stink the place out... got hit once, and took advantage of the pro-quitting culture in MMA.

    I prefer "sir"

None of what I posted isn't true. That's an accurate review of the fight.

It's the remark at the end that is stupid.

You're denying that quitting is acceptable in MMA?

  23. Bob N Weave

    Bob N Weave Guest

    So it's a "pro-quitting culture"? Please elaborate.

  24. steve_dave

    steve_dave Hard As Fuck

You can quit a fight in MMA and it's no big deal. The statement is pretty self-explanatory.

The fact is, Vera got hit once.... and quit the fight, and it's totally cool. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but as I said, Vera took advantage of the culture in MMA when he got his bell rung.

  25. Bob N Weave

    Bob N Weave Guest

Well then it's part of the culture in any sport then.

  26. steve_dave

    steve_dave Hard As Fuck

That simply isn't true. But that's a debate for another thread, lets try to stay on topic.

Why would athletes only quit and MMA, but not other sports. You are just ignorant. Don't try to run away from the argument.

I don't feel like a boxing vs. MMA debate, man. I know you guys love them, but they're boring.

You know as well as I do that a boxer can't get hit once early in a lackluster fight, turn and drop into the fetal position, grab his head and quit. He would be ridiculed by most fans, and more importantly his peers in boxing.

I'm not saying either is right or wrong... in fact MMAs system is a lot less barbaric. It just is what it is.

  29. Bob N Weave

    Bob N Weave Guest

That's just an ignorant comment. They are 2 different sports. The reason in MMA one gets dropped and one goes into a "fetal position" as you call it, is because there will be an incoming barrage of strikes at them while on the ground. It's kind of stupid for you to even question this. MMA doesn't have the luxury of a standing 8 count. Just because someone covers up after being dropped doesn't mean they are quitting. Duh.

  30. steve_dave

    steve_dave Hard As Fuck

I agree. They are two different sports. Quitting just happens to be significantly more accepted in one. No one but you is going to argue that point Bob. Tonight, it's a case where the entertainment value was way down because of it. On a night where a boxer dies because of a refusal to quit, MMAs system will look good. There's no right or wrong.

Oh and save the tone for someone else.
