in 2002. Let's say Lewis had forgotten to put that rematch clause in the contract and was frozen out. Rahman fights Izon as was planned, and then takes on Tyson. Does Tyson win the heavyweight title for the 3rd time? Or does he fuck up? Remember that from 2002 onwards he won 1 out of 4 and lost to the likes of Williams and McBride.

    How does it go?

Good question actually. At that stage of the game you never knew with Tyson. He seemed to lack heart. I say that Tyson would win a close decision.

Tyson had actually very strong performances in the early 2000, beating Golota, Savarese and Francis in less than five rounds combined. Nielsen was able to hang in there with him but I would assume Rahman would at least try which would be in favor of Tyson. It could be a bruising bout but I see Tyson landing more and winning a decision or perhaps a KO

Late 2001? Really could go either way. Tyson early Rahman after 5 or so. Does Tyson have the will power to go 12? Urgh, no idea on this one, toss a coin.

Being a nitpicker here, would most likely have taken place in 2002, as the Rahman-Izon match was pretty much set in stone before Lennox made use of the rematch clause. Maybe wouldn't have made much difference, but 2002 would have probably been the most likely year for this fight to take place.

I would also toss a coin, but not at this fight, that's for sure. Tyson stopped caring long ago, & I have long since been outspoken on what a poor fighter Rahman truly is.

Thinking about it, I might go for Rahman on a very late stoppage, but it's a tough call. I'm surprised anyone would pick Tyson on points at this stage of his career. Not unless the fight is set for six rounds.

exactly. Tyson hasnt shown the desire to stick with it in a fight and win one over the long haul in AGES, even if we say its 2001 and Im saying that

If Rahman can get past the first 4 - 5 rounds, it's his fight to win.
