Is a piece of shit. Weighed in for the Funeka fight not just one or two pounds over, but NINE FUCKING POUNDS!!!

I feel bad for Funeka. The guy has had some tough luck. Campbell comes in heavy and he loses a close decision, then he's outright robbed against Guzman the first time. Now in his third attempt to win a title, he has to beat a fucking welterweight to win a lightweight belt . What a crock of shit!

I liked Guzman as a fighter, thought he had bag loads of talent, clearly a bad attitude though.

Guzman doesn't have a title. He and Funeka were fighting for the vacant title. He can't win the title now, but he sure as hell can cheat his way to a win against a guy who kicked his ass last time. Funeka is however still fighting for the title, against a damn welterweight.

To be honest, Funeka shouldn't even take the fight. He will because he's not rich and needs the $$$. Guzman shouldn't be broadcasted by HBO or Showtime again, at least not before he comes at the agreed weight for a few bouts

I agree that Funeka shouldn't take the fight, but if he decided to call it off, he's losing his chance to fight for the title. I'm sure he would eventually get to fight for the title, but considering what has happened in his last couple fights I don't blame him for going through with it.

A 2-3 years ago I wanted to see Guzman fight the best and get on hbo/showtime. But those days are over he has no dedication and has allow big fights to bypass him because he is a lazy fuck.

He got his ass handed to him by Funeka and was lucky to get a draw...I guess he figured he can't beat Funeka at 135 so let see if coming in as a welter will do the trick..

I don't think he would lose his chance to fight for a title, he would be matched witht he next highest rated challenger not named Guzman for the vacant title

Totally agree. Guzman is a cunt, not only that, but obscenely overrated.

Like Valero, there was a time when many here thought he would beat Pacquiao

Funeka was absolutely jobbed in the first fight.

9 fucking pounds?? So basically he didn't even attempt to make the weight.

God I hope Funeka bashes him again, but Guzman obviously has more of a chance now, and a big advantage over his opponent, for having the luxury of not draining/weakening himself at all.

Whether he wins or loses, Guzman should be shut out of boxing after this, and not shown on TV again.

Yeah, I'm sure that is what would happen. It just sucks that all that preparation is down the drain. I think he just doesn't want to wait, and I really can't blame him is all I'm saying.

at 130 I definitely think that Guzman had the talent and style to trouble Pacquiao. Which is why Arum told him he would never give him the fight.

yet David Diaz was a more worthy oponent.

Agreed. Biggest cunt around, yet somehow manages to take away televised dates and paydays from better and PROFESSIONAL fighters.

Example A of dumb fan, who totally overrates Guzman. Who has Guzman ever beaten? He barely beat Barrios and Soto and was manhandled by Funeka. Pacquiao would have torn him a new asshole, so he can shit right and make weight. :shit::shit:

Take it to Mythical Matchups where the 122 lb & 130 lb Versions of Guzman was "Ducked" By Everybody...He Can Become the NEW Ike Ibeabuchi...N REALITY, the Guy NEVER EVER Showed Enough Dedication to Win Enough SMALLER Fights to Warrant a BIG Fight...

REED Thinks Jose Luis Lopez "Had the Talent & Style to Trouble" DeLa, but the FACT is, Lopez NEVER Registered that SIGNATURE Win & NEVER Showed Consistent Enough DISCIPLINE to Warrant it...

    SAME Principle...

I know, it's insane. Every now and then a fighter like Guzman comes along, and for whatever reason, gets overrated to buggery.

Like you said, he hasn't beaten anyone, and it's not like he looked like Roy Jones when he was beating the fairly average fighters he has fought. Where the overrating came from I simply don't know.

As sloppy as Valero has looked (apart from his last fight, good performance) - I can actually more understand Valero being overrated, he can punch and he is highly aggressive, obviously a pretty dangerous opponent.

Pacman would have handled Guzman with ease at 130 or 135.

I think there should be a rule that if a fighter is overweight, they take that amount of blood off him so that he makes the limit.

pretty disgraceful and borderline criminal behavior by guzman. he knew weeks if not months ago that he couldnt or wouldnt come close to making weight. pull out of the fight then. calculated behavior by a fighter who knew he would get his ass whipped again

Didn´t the WBO refuse to give Guzman another title shot after he called off a scheduled title fight, because he was overweight? The IBF should have done the same and given the title opportunity to a more worthy challenger.

Exactly. The sport of boxing is very loosely governed in many cases, and at times that can be a positive for the sport as elite fighters are fighting so infrequently... who wants to see major bouts regularly canceled for some type of rule infraction?

But in the cases where something is so blatantly intentional, and is really flaunting the rules in a "fuck you" fashion, I think the state athletic commissions should bring the hammer down. This reminds me of the Jose Luis Castillo fight(s) where he either cheated on the scales, or just came in way overweight on purpose simply because he knew he could get away with it. What hungry up-and-coming fighter (or even competitive champ) is going to pull out of a fight they just spent 8 weeks killing themselves for? In some cases you are talking about a potential career making fight for the challenger. I think Ali Funeka would probably take this fight even if he knew Guzman was on PEDs!

I think Guzman should be punished severely for this. Perhaps a ban in Nevada for some time. Something harsh enough to either make him take this seriously in the future, or just get out of the game.

He beat the shit out of Barrios for 12 round and all Barrios had to offer, after failing to make weight himself, was effort and balls. It went to a split decision but that made zero sense. I watched that fight live and Guzman beat Barrios like a rented red-headed stepchild mule.
