Has anyone else gotten emails from the Vegas casinos offering two free tickets to the fight with two nights stay?

I died laughing the other night when I got the email.

I think I got it because I've stayed at hotels.

My guess, the hotels bought tickets from the promoters and now can't unload them. Probably figured they'd get package deals through ticket brokers but demand was nil.

Did this email start with the words..."Sir...I have an urgent proposition for you. My brother the High King of Bungu-Bungu Land has been kidnapped and I......etc etc etc..."???

  6. Joe King

That's the whole reason the casinos buy the tickets.

Yeah I got the same email. Hell, they can't even give away tickets to that piece of shit fight.

This fight is pointless. if it's all a personal grudge, they should fight in Jones' backyard or something.

I'd email them back asking could get a discount if I agreed to take the tickets. [IMG]

If I was in Vegas, I'd take the tickets. Would like to see these 2 guys in person. Even if they're both past it.
This rematch shoulda happened in 2002 when it was slated. But both chicken mofos were scared of eachother.

yeah but if the casino has to GIVE away the tickets and solicit via mass email that tells me it hasn't lit Vegas on fire.

On the plus side, you'll never have to see Jones or Hopkins fighting in vegas again.

If it was really a personal grudge, it might actually be worth watching...but both these guys have a mutual respect and recognise it as one of the few half-decent payday opportunities left, its too calculated to be a passionate affair

Agreed. If there is any "passion" whatsoever it's all on Nard's side as well.

Roy isn't going to be fighting with any sort of anger or malicious intent. Feint feint feint.

    Collect paycheck.

This fight was destined to flop from the moment it was "officially" announced, but staging it in Vegas on Easter weekend was basically the final nail in the coffin (or I guess the final nail in the cross?). Williams-Wright was given the same treatment last year, yet another fight where it mattered little when or where it was staged, death at the box office was destined to follow

    And during the Final Four.

  17. Joe King

Yeah this fight isn't setting the box office on fire but this is far from uncommon for Vegas fights, especially over the past few years. They did the same thing for Hopkins/Calzaghe.

Yup...no one wants to see another Roy Jones fight, especially as he was knocked out in ONE ROUND in his previous fight...let alone see him battle against a 45 year old.

    When is this fight?

What i found the most amusing about Golden Boy's initial press release was their going out of the way to state that the main event will not begin until the last Final Four game ended.

another fight that didn't set the world on fire. See a common opponent here?

It could be worse. At least they are coming into the fight with decent win streaks.

    I hope I've misunderstood this.

    Jones on a win streak?

    No Hopkins-Jones rebroadcast

Golden Boy Promotions has announced that Saturday’s Bernard Hopkins vs. Roy Jones Jr. pay-per-view telecast will only be available on pay-per-view and will not be shown on a delayed broadcast by HBO the following week, as is commonly the case. The company also announced that the $49.95 pay-per-view telecast will be aggressively monitored on the internet and any piracy and/or infringements will be legally dealt with in a swift and immediate manner.

Damn Oscar sounds desperate. HBO probably refused to re-broadcast.

    50 dollars.

Even the people "aggressively monitoring" the internet for piracy will probably be quite bored tracking down the 5 or 6 people looking for it.

Most people don't want to watch this shit if it's for free.

The 50 dollar price tag is quite hilarious. :notallthere::lol:
