I liked Roy Nelson showing the world how obesity means f*ck all when you know how to fight!
:bears: This guy's got good hands. He's making a mockery of all the conditioned athletes in the UFC thus far. I think they need to put him in there with Cain.

Roy hasn't fought anyone yet, let's not get carried away. Struve is a nobody. His hands are ok as long as the guy he's fighting isn't a striker. Look what happened when he fought a good striker, Arlovski knocked him out.

Exactly. The best 3 opponents that Nelson beat were Arlovski, Rothwell, and Monson. They all beat him.

Struve is VERY hittable. I mean, Buentello beat the crap out of him standing.

Roy is definately a good fighter and can give many of the top heavys some problems, but a good striker will pick him apart.

Great Post. But Hanzy might actually have something with Cain. Cain is a stud GNP'er. But Roy Nelson is about as dangerous as a HW can get on the ground. He has submission wins over some HW's with respectable ground skills like Mir for instance(I know it was a grappling tourney and not MMA). I would pick Cain to win, but I would bet it wouldn't be pretty, and Cain would have his hands full.

They should make Frank Mir vs Roy Nelson.

He beat him once before in Grappler's Quest. Obviously, that isn't the same rules as MMA, but my point its not hard to fathom and beings Mir isn't the most mentally strong fighter in the division, I guarantee Big Country would be in his head.

I would like to see that fight. Mir probably wouldn't take a fight that if he lost would put him WAY in the back of the HW pack though. It's definitely a fight Roy could win I think.

Sh*t, I just opened a new thread asking about Roy vs the top 4. Oh well, we can discuss it in there instead.

might as well keep it right here, good question.

Like I said earlier, The GNP'ers are going to have a very hard time with Roy's BJJ. This real black belt level BJJ. I think Lesnar will just be too big, but if Mir can catch him Roy can definitely. The inexperience between Cain, Carwin, and Lesnar will be a huge factor for Roy. Dos Santos is different though. He doesn't come from a wrestling background, his BJJ would be an interesting matchup with Roy's. Dos Santos has nice standup and I think this sets him apart from Roy. I like Roy's standup, it suits him well, but Dos Santos should be able to technically outstrike him with speed.
