    Mate, all of those deficiencies have been obvious for about eight years. None of it is new. Haye has had a shit chin and shitty stamin since back in the days of losing to Oldaner Solic in the 2001 world ammy finals.

    But he keeps winning.

    Well, he KO-ed Mormeck. Then he KO-ed Enzo. He KO-ed Barrett. He dropped Ruiz four times and his corner threw the towel in. Thats four stoppages in his last five fights.

    This isn't a Sky scum comment, It is a FACT. What Haye has is a very quick and hurtful straight right hand which either drops or KO's other blokes.

    Did he KO them or not?

    The only person he hasn't KO-ed in his last five fights is a 300lb behemoth. In four HW fights, he has three stoppages and THIRTEEN KD's.

    You wanna claim Haye has a shit chin and shit stamina. Fine. That's fair game. But making excuses for fighters he has chinned is plumbing some depths...

    No, it isn't....Barrett....could not even approach the ring without falling over.

    He was destroyed by Wlad in 2000.

    8 years later, what was he supposed to have left?

    Come on.

    Dont say people are "plumbing the depths" when they point out how shopworn some of his opponents have been.

    Chagaev: Unbeaten. Dropped, cut and stopped in 10. Chambers: 1 defeat. Dominated and put to sleep.

    Compare and Contrast.

    Whats your point? That Haye hasn't proven as much in 4 fights at heavyweight as the guy whos been champ on and off for a decade?:dunno: That he isn't as good as Wlad? Does anyone disagree? :dunno: That said, Bottom line Ruiz would have been a good addition to Wlad's resume, the standard of his opponents hasn't been a million miles north & tbh I dont think Vitali's has at all.

    Did Haye KO these guys or not? You said he didn't. I'm not getting involved in a seperate side argument used to deflect from this fact.

    Said better than I was about to. So Haye, a four fight novice at the weight, hasn't beaten a series of guys like Wlad has? So fucking what?

    He stopped them, for sure. I never said he didn't. I think the Gurov fight is the last time he put someone to sleep. 2006 I think. As for Wlad, the last time he did that was 2 weeks ago.

    So fucking what?

    How can he "save the division" when his resume is lagging behind the guys that it needs saving from?

    What's the MO here?

    Look great/half-great vs total bums and then tell everyone you are bringing sexy back?

    I'm sorry, but this wave of Sky inspired shite isn't washing over me, whatever about the rest of you.

    He couldn't sell the Ruiz fight.....and now he is the man to save us all. Please.

    We're getting off topic.

    This thread is about the velocity of Haye's punches in a timestep based update, not total travel time.

    speed = 1;
    friction = 0.24;
    timeDiff = theTime - oldTime;
    timeStep = force * (timeDiff / 16.7);
    coef = speed-friction*timeStep*timeStep;
    hayesPunch.x += (hayesPunch.x - hayesPunch.prevX) * coef;

    Using this formula for Haye's punches and other heavyweights, you'll see that Haye's handspeed is only slightly above average.

    Judging by the descriptions I've read about the fight, it appears Haye did alot better than I thought he would, it was his first good win at heavyweight, can't take it away from him, he's earned 3% of the hype he recieves globally tonight.

    It may have sounded like I was putting him down just then, but 3% of the hype he gets is a fair bit you know, a fair bit.

    Here is what noted bullshitter, Kevin Mitchell, of the Guardian had to say about Chagaev vs Valuev, and Wladimirs own resume:

    He refers to Chagaev as a "career heavyweight of 12 years"......which can only mean he is alluding to both Chagaevs professional and amateur careers, as Chagaev is only a professional for 9-10 years.

    By Mitchells own reckoning therefore, Haye is also a career heavyweight, having fought as an amateur at Heavyweight.

    These are the weasel words of the press....but, incredibly, have their origin not in some tabloid rag......but in none other than the Guardian Newspaper.

    He says that Chagaev "nicked it"....and that Haye "walked it"..........more BS. Chagaev won a majority decision, Haye won a majority decision. Not a whole load to choose there. In fact, it was Haye who needed a strong 12th to pull out his "win". Chagaev actually had it as wide as 117-111.

    I gotta admit Haye was quite impressive with the rabbit punches. I think in the second knockdown he threw 3-4 very accurate rabbit punches in a row.

    Mitchell's views are as absurd as many of the views that have been on display in this thread...i guess what's worst is that he gets paid for them and that many casual fans will take it all for granted.

    He's riled me a few times....i think the most offensive was his round-by-round scoring of Calzaghe-Jones....he gave Calzaghe three 10-8 rounds!

    The guy clearly has a case of crotch-rot for David Haye. I dont mind that. We all have our favourites. What I wont tolerate is dis-information and falsehoods, especially when they are disseminated from a position of privilege within the press. And, make no mistake about it, the Guardian Newspaper is just that. A position of privilege.

    Saying shite like "Haye Walked It" in Germany is utter, utter nonsense. It was a close fight.

    If anything, the promotional concessions made by Haye probably played a greater role in his win than anything he did inside the ring.

    He's selective with his fabrications for sure....but i actually tend to agree with him on Haye-Valuev....i didn't think it was a close fight at all....'walked it'....no....'ran it'....that'd be more like it, but he was the only one landing punches. But that's a seperate debate for a seperate thread, one that probably got exhausted a long time ago.

    I'm not gonna get in any petty squabbles about exactly how fast Haye's hands are....they're fast. He did a job on Ruiz last night, that was clear.

    Anyone seen any quotes from Ruiz?....his take would be interesting

    He has decent handspeed for a heavyweight. But he is not "the 2nd coming of Ali"..or anything close, for that matter.

    Ruiz fought well but at 38 he just does not have what it takes any
    more.

    It is worth noting that even when he was winning, he rarely had an easy, straighforward fight.

    Getting old has just compounded his problems.

    Tony Tubbs had good handspeed too.

    So did Tommy Morrison. Pretty quick combination punching.
