Bradley vs Maidana Agreement Reached For June 19, HBO

BoxingScene.com has been advised by several strong sources that an agreement was reached for Timothy Bradley (25-0, 11KOS) to defend his WBO junior welterweight title against Marcos Maidana (28-1, 27KOs), the WBA's interim-champion, on June 19 with HBO televising. The venue is being finalized and should be revealed in the next couple of days.

Bradley was originally scheduled to make his HBO debut against Luis Carlos Abregu in a welterweight contest, and Maidana appeared to be on course for a showdown with WBC champion Devon Alexander in August. Golden Boy Promotions and Bradley's promoter Gary Shaw were unavailable for comment.

Awesome, hope the fight comes off. Very good, interesting fight.

Bradley probably wins on points, but Maidana should make a fight of it and at least hurt/deck Bradley once or twice.

bradley in my opinion is one of the best fighters in the sport. he shall get a stamp of an approval by many if he impresses against maidana.

I'm not a Bradley fan, but you can't question his level of competition the past few years. I'd said he's "Shane Mosley-Lite." Which isn't a bad thing, he's showing he'll fight anyone which is exactly what boxing should be about.

Gotta like Bradley's attitude. I'd insist that he get tested for PEDs, though. His physique screams it.

I certainly have a lot of respect for Bradley as a fighter, but I wouldn't go that far.

He's not powerful enough to be an elite fighter. At some point he'll just be outgunned, and his opponent is going to be able to walk through his shots, but not vice versa.

But no doubt, since he schooled Witter, he's building an impressive record.

It's a shame he's not more powerful actually, he'd be a lot more exciting.

Bradley is indeed a very good fighter and well worthy of his current position in the sport, he will lose soon though

That's because he fights the best guys and different styles.

Too bad Barrera and Malignaggi aren't around to pad his record.

As a Khan fan you should be happy while embarrassed. Bradley was willing to fight Khan in England and Khan and company wanted no part of it. We know Golden Boy gave Maidana step aside money to NOT fight Khan.

None of it looks good for Khan.

    Also...

I'll bet anything...if Khan and Ortiz win next month...that's the fight they'll want. Roach knows Ortiz well and after ortiz's mental breakdown against Maidana ortiz is the lesser of the evils betweem Maidana, Alexander and Bradley.

Don't be surprised to see those three guys mix it up then Khan avoids all of them...allowing them to beat each other without having to join the mix.

I never even mentioned Khan. I like Bradley, he's a good fighter and is #1 in the division. Let's not change the subject, ta.

I'm talking about Bradley vs the division while serving notice what will happen over the course of 2010 with Amir Khoward.

Well after their respective fights we'll see what happens, it will be a big seller that's for sure. One thing I do know is that Mr Bradley certainly has alot of respect for Khans talents.

Maidana and Bradley are fighting each other...it's a disgrace. One of them should be fighting Amir Khan and the other should be fighting Paulie Malignaggi.

Khoward paid his mandatory to fight Bradley.

Bradley will win a UD. Maidana is a good puncher and very dangerous for chinny or mentally weak fighters, but Bradley will school him. Maidana is quickly becoming very overrated.

  23. whiskey

Agreed. Maidana is obviously a good puncher but Bradley is very durable and the better boxer. I don't think power will be a major factor in this one.

  24. *Z*

Exactly. Bradley seems durable enough and he's definitely the superior boxer.

  25. Barristan

Maidana will win. His pressure and his power along with his underrated boxing ability will eventually get to Bradley IMO. Bradley likes to take an early lead, coast then finish strong. Maidana will disrupt that notion by winning some early rounds, and not allowing Bradley to coast....that's what I think anyways.

did anyone catch maidana vs. kotelnik? i didn't see it myself, but i'm assuming that it was a very close fight. kotelnik's a tough dude, but was never impressed by him in any means.

  27. Barristan

It was a really good fight. Maidana took a lot of shots but landed a hell of a lot on Kotelinik too. Kotelinik has a hell of a chin and is a professional who could beat any 140 pounder who stands in front of him like Maidana did. Personally I scored the fight for Maidana btw.

You really think so ? I've only watched a few fights and while he is good. I never thought he was p4p. I must keep a closer eye on Bradley.
