Hagler is a bad comparison. Rocky was alot more heavy handed then Hagler IMO. Hagler scored stoppages not because he was extremely heavy handed, but because he was extremely sharp and accuate, and put together combinations to take guys out. Hagler WAS heavy handed to an extent dont get me wrong, but Marciano was more so. Rocky had none of Hagler's technical skills or accuarcy, but he was extremely heavy handed.

Shit, my post did make sense, fightbeat fucked it up, because I used "< >" tags and it thought it was html

I actually said "Surely (insert 265 pound heavyweight) hits harder than Mike".

IE an opponent with a similar weight advantage that Golota has over Marciano.

ANother thing which must come into it is mentality

Rocky had the mentality of a puncher......being a natural puncher is no use unless you are actually looking for the KO.

LOK I'll eat your asshole alive

I strongly agree with Mike here

to say Golata was "fluid" or "boxed like a middleweight" is one of the funniest things i've read in a while

to say he was "robotic" is an insult to Robots

    LOL, I get it now

I just think Golota hit pretty hard and weighed 235... Marciano hit very hard but weighed 185... to me, its gotta be a wash

Golota has at least 50 lbs on Marciano, and punched pretty good for his size. I take Golota, he could throw some pretty fierce shots, but didn't normally load up on them all that much.

Like i said before...Carnera had 60lbs on Louis. Butterbean would have had 80 lbs on Tyson.

    Ya get me? :kidcool:

When you're talking lighter weights, or pretty much any weight below heavyweight, a significant weight advantage is a significant weight advantage, and it's hard to imagine Pacman punching as hard as even an average punching super middle like Frock.

But when it comes to the heavyweight division, say 200 pounds plus, I don't think the weight means quite as much in regards to power. Big man is big man. Obviously overall size plays a big factor, and that's one of the reasons the Klitschkos are as successful as they are.

But in regards to power, well, I think Tyson is the best HW puncher ever, overall, and prime Tyson was what, 218 pounds and 5'11?

I think Marciano was a VERY hard punching cruiserweight, and at world level, Golota an average punching heavyweight.

It's possible Golota hits harder, but I honestly think the little man has the more damaging punches, if only slightly, due to the natural weight of Golota's.

But Golota could actually fight, Carnera barely could and Butterbean isnt even a real fighter
