Thank you sir. That was kind of my point. He fought the baddest dudes of his era and never lost a decision or a close fight. Both loses, as previously stated, were sudden KO's.

Seems to me, if anything, he turned it up when needed rather than folding. Hey, but what do records and actual fights mean when speculating?

Personally, with my mythology-colored glasses put away, I would pick Lennox Lewis in a matchup versus any HW in history.

He doesn't win 100 out of 100 with any, but wins the majority.

Ali would have difficulty with what we call the "modern heavyweight". Guys like Lewis, Vitali, prime Tyson would all give him difficulties. It would be hard to pick against Ali in any fight, but after a while, the size and talent of modern guys has got to count for anything. Andrew Golota probably represents, physically, the best of the modern heavyweight....6'4" 235lbs, above-average chin, excellent movement and fluidity, trip-hammer jab, strength to burn. We saw what happened to Riddick Bowe when he took to the ropes vs Golota. Ali liked to take breaks......allowing todays guys to tee off is just asking for beef.

As I say its hard to pick against Ali, but sooner or later, he has to come unstuck.

Agreed except for the Golota part. You really should have left that out:doh:

Is this the same Golota that Tyson and Lennox Lewis made cry? The same one that QUIT against Grant?

Lennox Lewis is hands down the best mix of modern era size and boxing skill. Seriously, does anyone else think Golota is in the same ballpark?

    :atu::atu::atu:

READ WHAT THE FUCK I SAID.

    READ.

    READ.

    READ.

THE WORD FOR TODAY IS READ.

Was Lewis better than Golota? Of course. But Golota has, physically, the best of NEW {height, weight, strength} whilst retaining some of the OLD...hand speed, fluidity, movement, balance.

Manny Steward himself said that guys over 6'4" suffered a decrease in coordination...and I think he was still Lewis trainer when he said it. He also ridiculed Lewis size 14 feet.

Golota represents the high-water mark of a blend of OLD and NEW. Lewis hit harder...was heavier...but did not have the same looseness as Golota did.

Try to READ what is WRITTEN. I took a very particular aspect of Golota and praised it. Nothing more.

    There was no such fight.

Go to google and type in "Rock Newman...Racist Black People" and that might broaden your mind for you.

Yep. I read it a few times. I have few marketable skills with the exception of my ability to read, comprehend and reply.

Again, is there anyone that thinks Golota was more fluid or coordinated than Lennox Lewis?

I understand exactly what you're saying. I just think it's moronic.

Definitely. Me. And apparently, Manny Steward.:hump:

Golota was loose and limber. Lewis was definitely a half-yard clumsier.

I should have been more clear.

Does anyone with an ounce of sense think Golota was more fluid or coordinated than Lennox Lewis?

Fair enough....perhaps, if I put it like this.....Lewis was a very composed fighter.

Golota was not as composed but I watched the tapes of the Bowe fights and Golota, when he pays attention, is able to stand in front of Bowe when Bowe is on the ropes and use subtle ducks and sways to make Bowe miss....and all the time Golota stays close, landing good clean shots.

Golotas fluidity and nimbleness played a large part in his ability to outjab Bowe, despite having a shorter reach. He did the same with Michael Grant. You cannot do that unless you step in and out faster than the other guy can reach.

Carl Thompson was 40 when he beat Haye in the toughest fight of Haye's career to date, beating him in 5 rounds. Haye tried to take him out early in the fight but Thompson held firm and came back to win the fight. At 38 can Ruiz do the same? Remember this line BBC commentator Jim Neilly said as Haye was starting to decline against Thompson: "Is he going to get a lesson from an old fella whom everybody has just about written off?" He could have been speaking about Ruiz. We'll find out on Saturday whether or not Haye has learnt his lesson from that defeat to Thompson.

Thompson may have been 40 but he was a former world champion with wins over Eubank, who had proven toughness as shown in his fight with Rothmann etc, where as Haye had only had 10 fights. I wouldn't read too much into it.

    Plus Ruiz is shit.

If you haven't noticed a difference between the pre-Thompson Haye and the Haye now, you aren't looking properly mate. Haye threw about a million punches a round that night and was DEAD on his feet after three rounds. he barely throws ten big punches a round nowadays.

    The difference is MARKED.

Yep, he's already beaten a better fighter than Thompson, in Mormeck, since that loss

Haye wont touch Audley with a barge pole.

A big southpaw with a decent chin who can punch when the mood takes him.

HAye bitches on about how bad Wlad looked vs 6'6" 85" reach Tony Thompson but Haye isn't even going to go there.

Haye's whole thing has been to try and get into a 50-50 shootout with either Klitschko, he knows if he has 10 fights at heavyweight, he is good for a loss in around half of them.

Audley now has the Euro title, which means he goes into the WBC top 10, which means he is more Vitali territory than anything else.

I think he gives Vitali a very good fight, because he has the height and range and the Southpaw stance. It's his mind that lets him down, not the skills or the body.

That's the annoying thing with Audley, the guy actually does have talent and all the tools but he just doesn't have the mentality

He took a good few rights from Sprott, and a some solid bodyshots.

I think it is ironic that the same assholes who hyped this guy are now booing him at his fights.

Guy ends the show on one massive left hook and is booed out of it.

He was getting the Haye treatment in 2000 and now is a total bum apparently.

Yeh I don't understand why he got booed.
Had to give him credit for that win, he was behind on the cards and needed a KO to win and got it. He did well.
