I think any guy with amateur experience (even if he wasn't good, just decent) would beat the crap out of any female pro boxer.

I'm not talking about being a national level amateur or anything like that, I guess I mean decent.

But an average guy with no boxing experience would get handled with ease by a female pro.

Firewater KO1 Edwin "Venezuela Of Truth" Valero.

6 months, in the looney bin, where he will get enough of anti-depressants to move him out of the Lightweight division and NORTH in an awful hurry.

Oh well, that's one less potential beating for Amir Tomato Khan....

Come on mex. Grab a 6'2, 220lb young solid dude from your gym, give him 2 weeks boxing training and he'll force-feed his dick down Anne's throat and make her love it while pinning her arms behind her back.

So... does anyone know if that is the legal end of this? I couldn't really tell from what was posted. He goes before a judge and claims to be a drunk, then gets 6 months in rehab? Is that in addition to his time in the loony bin? Or is this a concurrently served sort of rehab/headshrink? I suppose he could sit in group sessions for both alcoholics and wife beaters, he will have a lot of free time.

I don't envy anyone who gets stuck in a Venezuelan crazy house, but 6 months seems rather light. Drunk or not, I think in the US he would serve some time for this, maybe even five years at the high end.

How can you be an alcoholic and a championship boxer, anyway? Doesn't the hangover and sleeping until 2PM hinder training a little bit? Then you're drinking again at 7PM, so that doesn't leave much time to train. Maybe he is just a very disciplined sort of off-season drunk.

I told you all the little Hobbit looked soft against Demarco. He's got a fuckin' beer belly.............plus he was talking about climbing up into an even higher weight class.

I hope he moves up to fight Maidana and ends up with a brain bleed........................oh right. :shit:

He's well on his way to becoming boxings next urban legend. Never beat anybody worth a damn but will somehow find a way of winning more mythical matchups then Sugar Ray Robinson.

Valero is a huge talent and boxing will have lost out if he continues to blow his opportunity.

It's clear that he's no disciplinarian, but I've always had the feeling that he's fighting to the level of his opposition. He knows he's a class above the guys he's been beating so he doesn't push himself in training, work on his skills, etc.

The dude can punch like anything and has a solid enough base that if he was dedicated he could be a bona-fide superstar. He has, or perhaps had, real crossover appeal.

If Valero had done more over the past 2 years, a fight with Pacquiao would have been every fans dream.

No he can't. When he's stepped up in class, his power has looked nothing special at world level, a bit like Freitas.

His performance against DeMarco was very good, but he didn't look like a monster puncher.

He can fight though, and it'll be a shame if his career goes down the shitter because he's an uncontrolled, wifebeating, motherbeating, sisterbeating arsehole.

I actually said a while ago, he'll be the next Ayala. He'll never fight anyone, and shall be nothing more than a Mythical Matchup superstar.

Honestly though, I don't think he is a proper alcoholic. Proper alkies are fucked up, often as bad as junkies. A championship level fighter could not be a proper alcoholic at the same time, it's impossible.

He might like a drink or two, but he obviously used that as a sympathy vote with the judge.

"Sorry sir, but it was the booze, not me" seems a lot better than "Yeah I gave my wife a few vicious beatings because I'm a total cunt".

De Marco only fought to survive and not get knocked out, its hard to Ko a guy who is primarily focused on moving his legs and readying his chin for your next right hand...I wouldnt judge Valero's power at LW on that basis

Nah, Valero's just being more patient. If he really went for it he could've taken DeMarco out inside three, but as Salaco says, DeMarco fought to survive. And he's no dummy, as he steps up in class he's gonna be more careful.

I agree the alcoholism is a bullshit excuse. For what happened he had to get some punishment, but any excuse will get you a light sentence if you have some stature. Alcoholism is the easy option :fightme:. He should have used PED's as his excuse.

    Valero in more trouble

    By Gabriel F. Cordero
Unbeaten two-division world champion Edwin Valero was involved in a traffic accident and a police chase on Friday in Mérida, Venezuela. There were no injuries but Valero, allegedly under the influence of alcohol, fled the scene of the accident. He was taken home by police. He later said that he fled because he felt harassed by the media and the general public. “I reacted as anyone reacts to this situation,” he stated. The champ promised to take care of the expenses of the other driver. Valero had been scheduled to leave later that day to Cuba with his wife, two children, trainer Mario Morales and adviser Segundo Lujano, where he would begin a rehabilitation program after recognizing his problems with alcohol and drugs. He had just been released Thursday after 14 days of rehab following another incident. Authorities are now reconsidering whether or not they should send Valero to Cuba for further rehab.

Silly little cunt. I think we can basically forget about Valero as a top fighter, he'll be the next Ayala, a mythical matchup favourite.

It's certainly starting to sound that way. I guess the only good thing about is whatever crimes he's commited have been in South America. Money goes along way in getting rid of problems. It probably doesn't hurt that he's a Chavez supporter too. Although i don't know how far that really carries.

I don't think he has the potential to be an ATG, but he's talented and always involved in exciting fights.

    It's really a shame.

Same here. I think he's severely overrated by some people on this forum (thinking he'd have a chance against Pacman, I mean really, he'd get bludgeoned with ease) - but he can fight, and his last fight he was fun to watch, good performance.

He would make for some exciting fights.

It is a shame, but he's obviously a total cunt. I mean beating up his wife, sister, AND mother?
