He has no real offensive skill or craft, and he's also very hittable.

The Quintana that fought tonight was a slouch actually. He slowed right down after 2 rounds, and looked pretty old.

 

Berto is not a scrub, but he's a fairly basic fighter with fast hands. Not unlike Khan actually, only with a much better chin obviously ::

 

Quintana looked like a shell of the fighter that beat Williams.

 

That was a beaut of a right that finished Botha off with the subsequent flurry.

Sorry but long before Berto won the fight, Quintana looked shit.

He looked alright for the first 2 rounds, then slowed down and just looked old and feable.

I thought Berto would win by the way.

 

I'm not sure I'd be in a hurry to claim Berto has a "much better chin" than any given relevant fighter. I can't recall a single puncher he's faced to date. He's been grossly protected in that regard yet has still tasted the canvas.

Not the greatest of performances tonight, but a decent win on paper. He still owes Collazo a rematch and is a long way from proving he can close the ridiculously wide gap between the top three and everyone else at welterweight.

 

That's so ridiculously biased it's laughable.

So I guess nowhere in that scenario, Berto improves or is better than you thought. If he wins it MUST be because of the other guy.

Reminds me of Froch, the guy has never ducked a fighter in his life, is constantly picked to be "exposed" and when he toughs out a win, the other guy becomes shit, and the next guy will for sure "expose" him. That is until Froch wins again and that guy becomes shit, and so on and so forth.

 

Froch is a better figher then Berto.

Neither one of them has much technical skill, but Froch at least has a good chin, and legit power.

Berto has sloppy skills, and for a guy with speed his defensive reflexes suck. Add to that the chin, and its not good news once he faces an elite guy.

Depending on how Cotto does with Foreman, he should drop back down after and go after Berto. Miguel grinds down Berto for a stoppage if he has anything left.
