i saw the first fight and it was pretty decent. stevens pretty much faded down the stretch and got KOed. lou dibella got in the ring afterwards and promised the crowd that there would be a rematch.

not sure what happened in the rematch though. i know that stevens won but dont know whether it was via stoppage or decision.

I was at both fights. Primera has a tactic that many journeymen use. They roll their shoulder almost to the point of where they're exposing their back. In the first fight, Stevens kept on throwing his big punches, but they landed on Primera's shoulders, back, or hip. Stevens piled up the early rounds easily, but was getting winded. At about the fifth round, Primera began to open up more, and was able to land some punches. As the fight wore on, Primera was in control in the 8th round and landed a counterpunch that dropped Stevens. Not hard or anything like that. Just a nice short punch. Stevens beat the count and was on the defensive, but multiple right hands forced the ref to stop the fight. From my vantage point, it looked like Stevens was dazed on his feet. In the replay, it looked like he was OK. Still, I thought it was an acceptable stoppage.

In the second fight, Primera had a similar gameplan, but Stevens just fought smart, didn't swing for the fences, remained aware of the counter right, and conserved his energy. It was a fairly easy decision for him.

I'm not a fight collector. I'm guessing, Reed, that you're looking at him as an opponent for a show. Primera is a pretty savvy dude. Very beatable, but your guy won't look like a king winning that fight. Still, he'll learn alot from a fighter like Primera.

REED, both of these fights and many fights of both guys are available on tape. Arben's description is very similar to my recollection of the two fights. Did you want to see them or just know about them?

He was pretty badly buzzed. Didn't look bad initially but the knockdown occurred right in front of me. He was in bad shape (in every possible way). Showed up much more focused for the rematch.
