What makes you think she had a choice? What's to say he didn't kill her when she did finally try to leave him?

It doesn't look like the Venezuelan authorities gave two shits what he did beforehand.

Well that's harsh I agree, but honestly, she should have just pressed charges and got a restraining order on him when she could.

I think the main point he was trying to make, which is totally true - if the victim goes along with the stairs story, there's nothing the police can do.

Because she kept on retracting her statement and blamed her injuries on accident. Unless you think the police/authority forced her to change her version ( wich would be a ridiculous assumption imo )

I think people in situations like that tend to live in fear a lot of their lives. Honestly, nobody here really knows the circumstances..........we're just venting, assuming, hypothesizing...........whatever.

Maybe Valero picked her as a mate because she came from an abusive family to begin with and grew up with this lifestyle. Maybe the culture down there tells her to just STFU and stand by your man. Maybe she was just as much of a psycho as he is.

We don't really know all the answers, but one thing is for sure.
