Getting me further hyped. I have to say as an aside.....Floyd Snr looks MUCH BETTER without that corn rows, predator-dreadlocks shit on his head.
Floyd mentioned twice that Shane had a nosejob. See what I've been saying.... I'm telling ya...his nose is different than it was a couple years ago. Nose job+Tatoo = Mid life crisis.
he probably heard it from the same place you heard it. Makes no sense to have a nose job if you are still fighting. Unless it was needed. For medical reasons. i dont see a difference however
This just illustrates how far up Floyd's ass you are. Reciting his bullshit. Good little foot soldier you are. I'm waiting for the ignorant "Shane's got a jheri curl" line. The episode was better than last week's only due to Naazim Richardson. I thought what he said about Floyd was dead on...essentially called him a phony. "Pop was an outstanding fighter, uncles were outstanding fighters. How many fights in the neighborhood was this guy really gonna have? Everybody in the neighborhood already knows your Pops and your uncles already got a reputation in the neighborhood. How many fist fights were you really gonna get into? so how much gorilla stuff did you really get into? I can get on the tv and talk like I'm really from the block when you know...what's real is real." Also, the bit about being the first to beat Floyd...said something like everybody wants to be the first guy in line to eat, nobody wants to be the 21st guy at the buffet. lmao Lastly, when everyone watched film on floyd, "you can't be tired watching a Floyd Mayweather fight. They need to show him hitting the pads or something between rounds." I also liked how he phrased Floyd's reaction to Shane "hitting him in the mouth." Outside of that, it's pretty much a waste. The best "new" info we've seen on Floyd was the "in-depth" look at his security team. beefheads lifting weights then "going to work"...four muscleheads grabbing metal folding chairs then sitting infront of a store front gym. Same thing with Jack and Shane's relationship...we've seen and heard this shit for years now. Enough. It was also noted how Roger isn't talking that much shit about Richardson as a trainer...perhaps it's there but not shown as of yet. I think there's more respect between the two camps than what's being shown... Simply a case of phony hype which FloydIdiots swallow hook, line and sinker.
I agree, the best thing in this ep was Richardson. 2nd best thing was the use of the XX song toward the end....nice to hear some quality british music on an American production....they've used Doves in the past too.
I liked Richardson's coward comment about Floyd's style of fighting. Also liked Floyd in bed with one of his kids, telling her to keep showing up despite obstacles. What he didn't tell her is that some obstacles can be self made.
you really don't like mayweather, do you? :: your disdain for mayweather is quite personal and disturbing.
Covered that in my post. Liked it. Don't be fooled, they WANT that side of Floyd to come out (assuming it exists). It plays into Mosley's hands. I guarantee you...next week we'll see Floyd on rants about how tough he had it growing up blah blah blah. Subtle shit like that fucks with guys like Floyd's mind. I get the sense Richardson respects Floyd's talent but doesn't think he's willing to stretch himself in a fight...if you notice the two fights they keyed on were the Castillo fights (I &II) and the Burton fight. Which incidentally were the last fights Floyd actually had to fight...not dance and bullshit his way to victory. When was the last time Floyd was in a tough fight or showed any semblance of toughness? That's what I'd expect Richardson and company to key on... Question his toughness and manhood and make him want to prove something... Also...let's be real...bodyguards? He's a fighter...surrounded by other fighters. That's a bitch move. Tiger Woods doesn't roll like that and after Elin takes half his money he'll have 20 times the money and fame Floyd's got. "Some think he's a talented coward." :bears:
Correction: I said the nose job thing LOOOOOOONG ago! at least a month ago. I didn't get it from Floyd. I also agree that Floyd is basically giving a persona and is not the person he's trying to portray. Dude I'm not a defender of Floyd as a person...as a fighter I think he's the best and one of teh best ever...but as a person I couldn't care less. You act as though anyone who's a fan of Floyd (the fighter) would defend every word or action he does outside the ring. Nonsense.
The dragon can come out and Floyd would beat Shane at his own game, make no mistake. Even an agressive Floyd is far more elusive than a non-agressive Shane...such is the vast GULF between their abilities to avoid punishment. Doesn't matter which Floyd we see, Shane's ass is gonna get tattooed (no pun intended)
These Floyd training sessions are something else. To go 40m straight on the pads at that pace and at that unbelievable quality just boggles my mind. It's beyond what I'd even have imagined humanly possible.
Physically I can imagine it's doable, the thing that boggles my mind is being able to keep that kind of concentration up for 40m. It's really incredible.
I live in Vegas and see Floyd around town all the time. He does need that security because he lives a very public life. He hangs out in nightclubs 3-4 times a week and needs crowd control because most locals love him and mob him wherever he goes. Basically because he is the best tipper in Las vegas.
I thought in episode 1 when floyd is in the parking lot and starts.. "I'm a GORILLA... I'm the MOSt Flashy..." it really made him look like a wanna be smooth talker.. he is no Ali, that's for sure I'm a fan of both guys and I have always said Floyd would probably win a dec.. but i'm really hoping Shane stretches him
Muzse, you're my boy...unconditionally, but you're misrepresenting me homie. I'm siimply a fan of Floyd as a fighter. I think that as... a fighter...he's simply one of teh best that I've ever seen. Ali, Jones, Robinson, Mayweather. That's how I see it. But as for his personality etc...I don't care for it like most other people, although I don't think he's quite the ass he is pretending to be to be honest. I think the real Floyd is the one that you see congratulating teh opponents after the fight. ASll of this nonsense is to hype the fight and ensure him more "green".
Come on Sly...you know I'm having a bit of fun with you. While he's not the best fighter I've ever seen (Roy Jones is) and don't think he's up there with the greats I appreciate his talent. Floyd hasn't done anything we haven't seen before, he simply does it well. it's easy to look great against guys tailor made for you and let's be real that's what the last 8 or 9 years of his career has been about. :kidcool:
I agree with you on Jones. Mayweather to me is a combination of Ray Leonard and Pernell Whitaker. I don't think the last 8 or 9 years of Floyd's career has been as bad as people make it out to be anymore more than Pre-Ruiz/post-Toney Jones' opposition was a bad as people made it out to be. in fact Mayweather's opposition since Castillo has included Hatton, judah and De La Hoya...which cannot be criticized by even the harshest critics. And other guys like Ndou, Soza, Baldomir, Corley and Gatti were acceptable fights for various reasons. Gatti was in the limelight following his fights with Ward, Dorin and Leija..PLUS he held a title at 140lbs (tszyu and Hatton were at showtime at the time). Baldomir was the legitimate Weltweight champion, line of succession al teh way back to De La Hoya and Mosley. Soza, Ndou and Corley were solid challengers...and there were much worse fighters that he could have fought. Even Marquez, blown up lightweight or not, was on a roll of high profile victories (Diaz, Casamayor) and was a good warm up fight for a comebacking Mayweather.
Mayweather wants to get a RISE out of the public so they are more interested in his fighting, whether to see him win or lose. I understand that now more than ever. Mayweather doesn't control my thoughts of appreciation or hate, I DO. Richardson comments are interesting. They need the dragon to come out. They WANT the dragon to come out. Only to step on it's tail and punch him in the stomach!!! Mayweather will try to keep him tucked away and will try to cruise to win. What he calls a "stickup".
I wouldn't put him in either category with Whitaker or Leonard simply because both of those guys fought everyone. Fought the best in their divisions without excuse. How can you relate mayweather to leonard when leonard retired (the second time) and came back against Hagler...two divisions up from his retirement. Floyd went the other way...came back against a guy two weight divisions below him after a layoff and in his prior fight to retirement fought a guy coming up in weight to fight him. It's nowhere near the same. And as much as I hated Leonard, he was a bad mofo in the ring. he wanted to hurt you...wanted to fight whereas Floyd's never been that guy. and while bringing up Roy's resume, Roy didn't have the wide array of guys in his division Floyd did. Roy cleaned out light heavy save for one guy. Floyd's never done that...ever. Also, Roy did shit in the ring never seen before and got a ton of guys killed trying to emulate him...hell...has gotten HIM left for dead after he slipped. I said this after the Marquez fight...I see slippage in Floyd. Marquez simply didn't have the size and/length to reach the openings. It'll be interesting to see if Shane's got enough in the tank to exploit what I saw.
Glad you qualified "the second time" 'cause you KNOW the sly was going to bring up Kevin "hands of stone" Howard! :: And Anyway Muzse...bringing up hagler is a little unfair. Mayweather's De La Hoya fight (bigger man for alot of money) was his version of teh Hagler fight. Floyd doesn't want to hurt a fighter? He wanted to hurt: Judah Burton Hatton Corley Bruseles Mitchell Gatti Corrales Chavez What's wrong with you homie? Anyway...let's see if he wants to hurt Shane. Let's see...
I totally agree. Floyd Sr said the same thing. Mayweather is 33, fairly rusty himself and has been slowing for some time now. Hardly throws combinations and is much more flatfooted.
Wrong... Mayweather's version of the Hagler fight would have been fighting Jermain Taylor who was two divisions up from welterweight and the champion at middleweight.
