Back in 2006, but Forrest made 250K for his last fight, also against Ortiz.

It still doesn't change the fact that he was paid 16K to headline a pay per view event and Keith Jardine got 14K to do the same.

Why do fans even care how much anyone makes? I never understood why people care. if they don't want to fight, they don't have to.

You are about a day late and 40 dollars short with that comment.

Why take the easy way out and say that fighter pay doesn't matter to fans? Can you argue against the fighters making more money?

It's a way to slam the UFC.

What's funny is the same people that whine about boxers not fighting because they demand too big a split are the same ones slamming the UFC for their pay scale.

Why the do fans get so pissy when people criticize the UFC? It's the same damn principle. People only get offended when they have opposing views.

Which just proves my point that UFC salaries are growing at a rapid yet reasonable rate.

You need to bring more than just one fighter getting an increase because Forrest turned into a semi-draw/headliner. Maybe the total payouts instead.

You do realize that no one will ever be happy in this debate.

The truth of the matter is that the UFC's payroll is a much smaller percentage of their overall revenue intake than boxing or any of the major sports in the US (NFL, MLB, NBA). From memory I think the UFC is at around 10% while the major sport leagues are in the high 50's.

That can't be argued. But the UFC is also the youngest of any of those. Unfortunately time will change things and we will all regret it as the best guys will end up refusing to face each other unless there's a goldmine involved.

Yes, and they need to stay reasonable or else we will have a sport filled with Mayweathers like we are destined to have in boxing. Nobody wants to fight anyone. What a joy that will be to watch!

Mayweather recently has been fighting the GBP roster. No different than Chuck Lidell being champion and not fighting the best fighters in his weight classes because they were at another promotion. So spare the best fight the best MMA bullshit.

Chuck was Ufc champion because Rampage, Silva, Shogun, Ninja and Sakurama were in Pride correct?

Doesn't matter. Chuck went to Pride to fight making your post incorrect.

BTW. Who is this Sakurama guy?

Yeah wow. It's pretty retarded for someone like you to tell me I don't know shit. Especially considering I know someone with connections all over the sport. Use your damn head. I don't post much in here but take a look back when Shogun fought Griffen. I told people Forrest had a shot, Shogun had lots of issues. You telling someone like me I don't know shit is hilarious.

The payscale for MMA will unfortunately go up eventually. The NFL was in business for decades and paid shit until free agency started in the late 80s or whenever. Now some guys complain they treat them like slaves(NFL is very strict) and everyone just tells them to shut their overpaid asses up.

Never heard a football player say that. I remember many basketball players saying it like Patrick Ewing and Larry Johnson. It was during contract negotiations if I remember right.

Yet Patrick Ewing who started playing basketball in the fucking 80's never made less than a million dollars a year and over a 100 million during his career.

The heavy metal, Tapout shirt wearing MMA culture doesn't exactly attract intelligent people. I mean, come on. We're talking about a sport that's big because of a reality TV show.

The difference being in the UFC the fighters don't pick who they want to fight. They are told who they are fighting.

Nobody is saying we want them to make next to nothing, we are saying keep it reasonable or MMA is going to turn into boxing with no risk being taken and everyone out to make the easy dollar. I'm sure you'll say "It's a business" and I agree with that, but putting out a shitty product is never good business.
