My Apology to MMA Written by Mayhem Monday, 19 April 2010 06:28 I would like to formally apologize to CBS, Strikeforce, and all fans of mixed martial arts for my role in the events following the Strikeforce: Nashville event. In retrospect, my timing could not have been worse to ask for my rematch with Jake Sheilds, and I take full responsibility for entering the cage and setting off a chain of events that cast a dark shadow on the sport. I've been a fighter and a fan of MMA for over 12 years, and would never do anything to intentionally tarnish the sport I've given my life to. In the excitement of the moment I let my emotions run high and made a bad choice that resulted in a debacle, for that, I sincerely apologize. Jason Mayhem Miller
I've never been a Miller fan, but he is not at fault. Fighters enter the cage to challenge other fighters all the time. We've seen it with Rampage and Rashad, Chuck and Wanderlei, GSP and Hughes, etc. The Diaz brothers are scumbags and the blame should be placed on them. TFK
I agree, it's a pretty normal thing to do, in boxing and MMA. It was Melendez who started it, stupid little shit.
Melendez pushing is one thing, but the Diaz fags made it a mugging. Classless scumbags who I hope never win a fight again. TFK
Diaz was probably pissed about THIS. Which is why he went after Miller.:: <object width="640" height="505"><param name="movie" value="http://web1.nyc.youtube.com/v/tSAQK6y_EXw&hl=en_US&fs=1&rel=0"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://web1.nyc.youtube.com/v/tSAQK6y_EXw&hl=en_US&fs=1&rel=0" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="505"></embed></object>
The Diaz Bros need to be blackballed from the sport, plain and simple. They do this shit way too often.
pretty classy move on Miller's part. Don't think CBS and Strikeforce doesn't realize no one from the other side has apologized for shit yet. Caesar Gracie couldn't even issue an apology, made it out like his boys are just family sticking up for each other.
Personally I think sending Miller into the cage was a Strikeforce ploy to hype a rematch between Miller and Shields. It backfired horribly. It probably would have gone more like Rampage-Evans or Floyd-Shane if not for the thug mentality of Melendez and the rest of the clan. I love a good 'calling out' in post fight interviews. It's the best time in my opinion.
That brawl basically saved the show IMO. Miller should be rewarded for waking us up from that sleep-inducing sh*tty Jake Shields hump-fest.
This whole Henderson signing sure backfired on Strikeforce bigtime. The word is Shields will sign with the UFC in two months, which is when his contract officially expires. So now they have Fedor out until god knows when with his contract dispute (M-1 wants to be 50-50 partners with SF) and now you have a highly paid Hendson losing in his debut to a guy he was supposed to steam roll. I've supported SF since the beginning, I have been to almost every show at the HP and I hate to say this, but the things they are doing are very EliteXC, basically trying to get big overnight. They need to slow down.
Agreed. Some very bad decision-making going on. But the wonderful thing about MMA is that you can always expect the unexpected.:kidcool:
Shields will get beat by GSP and fall into oblivion agaisnt the like of Fitch and Koschek. Bad move on his part. Seriously.
I think Shields will do ok in the UFC. I don't see him beating GSP, but I could certainly see him beating some of the top guys. He's subbed Fitch in a grappling match before.
