Tszyu hints at boxing return

    “I have not officially retired."
     By Craig Watt
Former undisputed Jr-welterweight champion Kostya Tszyu was a special guest on the Long Lunch today in Australia on Fox Sports News. During a twenty minute interview he hinted that he may be enticed into a ring return – if the right opportunity came along. He stated, “I have not officially retired – even after the loss to Ricky Hatton I have never stated that I am retired from the sport completely. I have not ruled out a return to the boxing ring but the opportunity would have to be right. It would have to be something big. It would take me about six months to get myself back into shape to compete again so it would have to be something different. A fight against big named boxers would be the only thing that would excite me to push my body into the pain. Let’s look at this weekend’s boxing fight between Floyd Mayweather and Shane Mosely – that would be a good challenge for me to fight the winner. Also Manny Pacquiao is the best fighter in the world and he is in my division. You never know what can happen in boxing but it is these types of fights that could entice me back to the boxing ring.†Tszyu has not fought since his 11th round retirement to Ricky Hatton in Manchester in 2006 and has spent recent years developing boxing gyms for young fighters in his native Russia.

Tzsyu is what, about forty one years old now? This is all nonsense.

He's been saying the same thing for 5 years now. Watching him get carved up by any of those guys would be pure bloodsport. Boxrec has him as inactive.

In about 5 years his kid might be up for it though - undefeated golden gloves amateur right now.

Ahhh. Now I look at him again the resemblence is quite striking. Besides, I don't watch many ammy fights outside of the UK. He must be decent then.

Tszyu is going to come back at 40 years old and rumble with either PBF, SSM or Pac?

Yeah, but the early worm gets eaten by the bird so maybe it is a good idea to sleep in.

Hillarious I know! Kostya versus Floyd? Haha It would be a farce and a big blow to the sport of boxing. Having a rusty 40 year old fight the supposed best pound for pound fighter in the world. :eek:ld:

    p.s
    Luckily Shane is only 39

I would love to see Pacman Vs Tszyu.

Given Pacman's recent record, he could do with a soft touch. It would be such fun watching him slap the greasy little rat around the ring in brutal, one sided fashion.

Us Tszyu haters can only dream though, obviously even if he did come back, he wouldn't get a shot at one of the big boys.

And if he really has no intention of coming back, shut the fuck up. He needs a beating just for blabbing his ugly little face, and trying to sell his shitty Soviet Energy Drink.

What is it about Tszyu you despise? I'm not a fan, but he seemed so remarkably inoffensive & agreeable, I can't imagining anyone genuinely hating him.

I do think the Tszyu of his pomp & Pacquiao now at 140lbs. would've been a sterling, sterling battle.

    Honestly I'm not sure.

I'm sure you've experienced just a somewhat irrational, but natural hate. You can't like everyone.

For example, sometimes dogs just randomly dislike each other, no real reason.

But logically, there are several reasons. First and foremost, I don't like his fighting style. Too stoic, too robotic, fought with no passion. I just find him so boring to watch. I like punchers. Tszyu was somewhat of a puncher, but he just doesn't do it for me, I don't enjoy watching him fight at all.

I like some fighters that are cold and calculated, like Monzon, one of my favourite fighters of all time. But he was a craftsman, great to watch, and showed passion too.

There's several other reasons for me being such a Tszyu hater.

First off, he is almost as overrated as Tito. Who did he beat? His best win is Judah, and people talk about him like he's a great fighter.

Also, he lacks heart and courage. He got the shit kicked out of him by Cool Vince and Hatton, and showed NO desire whatsoever to rematch either of them. Like Hamed with Barrera. Hardly the mark of a great fighter. I find his personality annoying too, in interviews etc, just something about him. Plus his horrible little rat tail and greasy face just add insult to injury.

In a nutshell Ramonza - I don't like his fighting style, I don't find him exciting to watch in the slightest, I think he was VERY overrated at the time, and he also lacked the balls and fire to rematch the two guys that beat him.

mexican wedding shirt has captured my feelings Tszyu to the tee except the part about his fighting style. I like the Eastern/Euro boxer/puncher style that he had, I think it was effective and fun to watch.

I guess generally I'm not that much of a fan of that style. I don't hate Kessler, but also has that type of Euro style, and I don't find him fun to watch either.

It's not dramatically different to a guy like Monzon, who I love, but a bit stiffer and more robotic.

Ironically I don't mind watching Vitali fight. He has a looser, more relaxed variation of the Euro style, not the classic stiff version.

Innit though, I mean really
