Must have been done before but I don't remember it. Whitaker naturally by far the greater fighter, but do you see Camacho's style, extremely good handspeed and combinations added the fact that he wouldn't have to be scared of his opponent's punch giving him trouble? Personally I think Camacho has the style and advantages to keep it close against Whitaker. He wouldn't win, but it could end about 8-4, 7-5 or so
I cant see Camacho winning many rounds at all. Aside from speed, he has nothing at all over Pea. He makes it competitive early, but by the mid rounds Pea has his movement figured out, and Pea keeps that brilliant jab in his face all night long and completely outboxes him.
I agree, actually. Whatever people say about Camacho's later career, there should be no detracting from the fact he was an excellent 130 & 135lber, & his speed troubles Whitaker, IMO. I know this is extremely contentious, but head-to-head, I rank Whitaker as the best LW of all-time. I have to think he'd find a way to deal with the somewhat under-rated Camacho at some point, though I do think he'd need all twelve rounds to take a close decision.
Yeah Camacho seem to be the more successful playboy/ladies man.... However he was also a hell of a lot more queer orientated than Whitaker....
